i'm not even in this mafia but i'm just popping in to say a thing

i guess the general interest in mafia is just declining, although that's probably because the most recent mafias have ended poorly in some fashion
and that's why some people haven't really been motivated to do things here (either that or they legitimately forgot that it started)

i signed on for a mafia game 2 mafias ago (KD's The Legend of Mafia)
and then i realized a while after that I didn't want to play the mafia, so I just neglected to post in it
and then soon after, issues with balance were pointed out and the players quit

then there was kirbysonic's 'generic' mafia, and it was eventually made apparent that it was not a generic mafia
i don't even know where to begin with what happened there but apparently some of the roles/abilities there were bullshit and the players quit again

and here, it seems like there shouldn't be any problems, since the roles seem fairly ok (i actually haven't been paying attention to the roles so whatever)
but there's less people compared to the previous 2 mafias [15 to TLoM's 25 and GM2's 21] (and especially compared to Smash's Dinner Theatre mafia [40], which failed because of the host neglecting his own game to go play pokemon or some shit)
and then the people that are here, aren't actually doing much

so it's up to both the players and the host to make the game work, although i don't know what lies in this mafia's future (will it finish, or will it be forcibly ended yet again?)

It's a pretty fun game once you learn the basic mechanics and finally defeat the final boss (it's less the boss itself being difficult and more its cronies swarming you and destroying you)

You'll probably want to unlock extra things like the races, hats, and companions (which can give you some extra bonuses or abilities, or even downsides if you want more of a challenge), either to make next runs easier or just for novelty.

For example, there's two unlocks that are almost impossible to get (and the only ones I haven't unlocked legitimately  because fuck these unlocks):

The Overworld Helm cuts down damage by half, rounding down, so you could take 0 damage from things that do 1 damage, but you unlock it by beating the game without taking ANY hits. The last level (the Scourge Realm) will destroy any attempts at doing this unless you get a really good spawn and can deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

The Djinn race is magic-oriented, starting off with the basic wood axe, a really nice weapon, and the Fireball staff, but you unlock it by only defeating one enemy (the Scourge Wall), and that's more difficult since you can't level up since you can't gain experience from killing enemies. You also can't really take any hits.

There's also some more fun challenges like beating the game without crafting anything, beating the game without chopping down any trees, defeating various boss-type enemies, and so on.

Thunder's a Roll, and SmashBro was probably a Duo or something, I didn't really pay attention to smash all that much

I get Captain Falcon, and after a few minutes of pure dick kickem, I get rage
apparently Thunder was healing Smash during this time and I threw my punch down in a line, somehow managing to hit them both

and then even later, when someone else rolls Falcon, Thunder was healing Smash again when the Falcon blasts Thunder with his Falcon Punch, but it missed Smash this time

and even later than that, Smash wasn't even in the server (because it crashed and people kinda left), Falcon gets rolled again, and Thunder's healing some more people
only this time the Falcon completely whiffed all of his rages, not hitting Thunder once

moral of the story:
Never Heal Plus

oh yeah I don't know why but I want to see this gamemode from GoldenEye: Source appear somehow in 8BDM

Live and Let Die (a variant of LMS)
-One player plays as Baron Samedi, a seemingly unkillable force. (The Baron starts off with 100 HP & 100 Armor in GE:S)
-A player must find the Golden Gun and kill the Baron with the Golden Gun in order to win the game.
-The Baron must kill all the other players in order to win the game. (Once a player is killed by the Baron, they are removed from play.)
-The Baron can never pick up the Golden Gun, only the other players can.
-Players can kill each other with normal weapons with no downside, although doing so is a waste of time.
-If any player kills the Baron with any weapon that is not the Golden Gun, then the Baron reincarnates, stronger than ever. (In GE:S, the Baron gained weapons from the round's weaponset, which is usually a set of 8 weapons of increasing power. If the Baron is killed and he already has all the weapons, he gains additional health and armor.)

I think that was the gist of how it worked in GE:S, although I'm not how sure it could be adapted in 8BDM.
