How about they have the option where you can play the game in either 8-bit graphics, 16-bit graphics, or even 32-bit(?) graphics and the graphics do not affect game play at all.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Unofficial Weapon Tiers
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:44:11 PM »
So far from what I've heard so far is that the Duster Crusher and Ring Boomerang needs to be higher up on the list. Agreed almost unainumosly I might add too. I would change it, but I need some good reasons why and suggestions for the description for the weapon for the tier placement explaination.

These are my arguments for each of those weapons you 2 guys have mentioned.

Gemini Laser: This sits with weapons like Napalm Bomb and Flame Blast. Not good weapons for direct attacks, but decent to create a diversion for an escape attempt. Gemini Laser is not weak weapon, just tricky to use (even as a diversion weapon).

Blizzard Attack: Now Muz's point on Blizzard Attack is quite interesting, and some testing could be done to see if this point could move Blizzard Attack anywhere else in the tier list.

Freeze Cracker: Freeze Cracker is a weaker yet a lot faster version of Dust Crusher. With more shrapnel everywhere, this is a lot less punishable if the user misses. If we had a Freeze Cracker vs Dust Crusher fight, and assume that both players miss around the same number of times, then the Freeze Cracker will probably hit more and the damage will add up more than the Dust Crusher.

Bubble Lead: It is strong, and no one can deny that. Even with it's damage variation, the downer for this is the painfully slow projectile speed. Being strong is good and all, but what good of an use is it if you always miss because of its speed? I find it still around the C tier.

Mega Buster: Mega Buster is you average weapon. Power is not great, but it does enough to be useable. Being infinite use and it not being a punishable weapon to use, it breaks even with its low power. Then again, when compared to all the other weapons, this becomes dwarfed really fast, so I won't be surprised if I see this weapon to be demoted.

Also Tess, I think a tier list with even amount or a pyramid shape is not necessary. Imagine if all the weapons in this game used sv_fastweapons 2 speed as their default! There would be so many weapons in the A to S tiers, and a few in really low tiers. In short, weapons "earn" their tiers like students earning grades in school.

This list is about weapons used alone. I think this might change , because 2 lesser tier weapons could outperform higher tier weapons, but it would look awkward for just those individual weapon to be placed in a higher tier while not functioning well alone. Again Flash Stopper alone is just awful. Flash Stopper is the poorest option for an escape weapon, because you may still see through somewhat through the Flash Stopper somewhat. No killing potentail itself and.... /endrantflashstopper.

Explain why Centaur Flash should be higher. I dueled Cutman Mike in Magnet Man's stage and Eddie gave me Centaur Flash twice. Sure it helped me get away from some of his rampaging attacks, but once I used it up, he was still in close quarters with me. Even while I was scrambling to grab more ammo, getting him off my tail with this was not that effective at best. I had to chase him away with Ice Slasher to make him retreat. I do not see how much more useful it is as a defensive weapon.  Centaur Flash as an offensive weapon is just paying too much ammo for kill. I really would like to hear about your thoughts of Centaur Flash though (You might bring up an interesting point like what Muz did!  :) ).

As much as I'd like to bicker over tiers, I'd like to ask you to "review" Triple Blade for this list.

Gogogo.

FUNNY THING! I TOOK OUT TRIPLE BLADE CAUSE IT WAS NOT "OFFICIAL", BUT I REALLY WANTED TO ADD IT TOO INTO THE LIST!!!

MM8BDM Discussion / Unofficial Weapon Tiers (Updated!)
« on: March 14, 2011, 05:28:42 AM »
First of all this is what the title says, this list is completely unofficial. This list is based off of opinions of others and my thoughts and opinion. Weapons will be placed in a tier list (in no particular order within same rank), and the tier is based off of usage of the weapons in DUELS. Exploits do not count forward toward the tiers. Also note that both duelist have the same range of ping and lag.

Any thoughts are appreciated, so the tier list can be more and more “accurate”.

I am glad someone could beat me in the end. It would look very jerkish if I won a tourney for a game I made!
In my opinion, if you have won, then it will even solidify your place as the best player of the whole community. Jerk? Who would think of you as a jerk?

This was a while ago (during Vb1) in TLMS and we were in MM1DW1. I was the only survivor after my team was killed off. The other team was all moving in a pack, and I tailed them without them noticing. In the hallway from the Hard Knuckle towards the Crash Bomb/branch path to the open area I slaughtered 4 - 5 players (which was all of the team) with Knight Crush. That was my best kill(s) I've got in this game so far.

tip 1: never use up all the weapon energy you have forcing you to go collect more then you need. tip 2: if you have W tanks use them only when weapon energy is WAY low and when your in a giant fight. tip 3: find the most powerful weapon on the map youll be a pwning champ. final tip: dont waste ammo trying to hit a n00b that moves around alot just go kill a guy thats not a noob and who is sluggish and unaware. i hope that helped :)  please comment this is my first post

So a nOOb is someone who keeps moving during a match, and someone who is not a nOOb is sluggish and unaware?
This makes no sense at all.
Also, people are complaining about the Cutstuff community because of new people like you.
Keep your name calling to a minimum, and your posts relevant.  :ugeek:

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Savior's Challenges to YOU!!!
« on: March 13, 2011, 07:16:22 PM »
Quote from: "Rawk Hawk"
The Cutman Challenge is a bit harder when you have 5 against 1 person. Cutman has more targets to kill, thus making it easier for him to win.

Some of these other challenges, such as Skull Barrier one, just seem unpractical. With that many people running around, getting more ammo for Skull barrier seems ridicules. Not to mention you have to record the whole thing and if it happens someone leaves, you fail the challenge.

I'm not sure if ya understood the player dropout rule, so I'll clarify that. So let's say you want to attempt the Skull Barrier challenge, and you start off with 7 people when the fight starts. If one drops out, your still fine since there are still at least 6 people in combat. If another person drops, then we have a problem. Lastly, if people join the fight, then that is perfectly fine for the challenge.

By the way, the Skull Barrier chllenge is not supposed to be practical. If you attempt that challenge, then there's no way for you to win that game and I understand that. It is supposed to be hard with all those other people running around, but hey! If you can pull it off, then that's an amusing achievement you just pulled off.

Though I would like to give out some of my opinions on class balancing (other than Gravity Man). I don't think my opinion will be heard, honored, or even listened, so I'm not gonna bother. Unless it miraculously does happen, I'll speak my mind.

MM8BDM Discussion / Savior's Challenges to YOU!!!
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:37:48 PM »
In light of the Cutman Challenge, I've thought of some more fun challenges that people can do. Of course, when attempting to do so, you must of proof of your amazing feat. This is all just for fun! You may choose not to do any, and there's no competition in this too. Anyone can do this at anytime.

Note: I recommend video proofs more so than screen shot proofs. Though, there are some challenges where screen shots alone can be good enough.

Without further a due, these are my challenges!

Cutman Challenge
Description: As some people seen on my screen shot posts, he's pretty much unbeatable. Let's see which brave group of people can take him down!

Mode:TDM
Flags/Settings: no autoaim
                     crouching on
                     bot skill level 5
                     chasecam enabled
                     auto respawn on
                     frag limit 40
                     sv_fastweapons 2
Other Notes: Teams must be a 5 v 1, with Cutman (or any other bot, but it doesn't matter) on the one side while everyone else is on the other team. The human team can have more than 5 people, but in any point in time if a player drops out and causes the human team to contain less than 5 people, then the attempt is invalidated.
Maps:MM1CUT, MM2FLA, MM2DW1

Invincibility Challenge
Description: Become invincible for the whole game and not losing it.

Mode: DM
Flags/Settings: frag limit  30
Other Notes: The challenger must grab the Skull Barrier within the first 2 minutes and not damage or get damaged by anyone. Once the challenger gets the Skull Barrier, they must use it for the rest of the game and not let it run out in any given time. The DM must have at least 6 human combatants (including the challenger). Video proof is needed, so that the players are out to kill, not to just give the challenger the achievement. The player dropout rule still applies and it is the same as the Cutman Challenge rule.
Maps:MM2HEA, MM4SKU

Destroyer of Worlds Challenge
Description: Be the one who kills all and not die once!

Mode: DM
Flags/Settings: frag limit 30
Other Notes: The challenger must participate in a standard DM without dieing once and win the game. There must be at least 8 combatants (including the challenger). The player dropout rule still applies and it is the same as the Cutman Challenge rule. Video proof is recommended for this challenge.
Maps: MM1CUT, MM2FLA, MM3MAG, MM4BRI, MM5STO, MM6TOM

Buster Master Challenge
Description: Win a DM with the Mega Buster only!

Mode: DM
Flags/Settings: frag limit 30
Other Notes: The challenger must participate in a standard DM and win the game with only the Mega Buster. There must be at least 6 combatants (including the challenger). The player dropout rule still applies and it is the same as the Cutman Challenge rule. Video proof is recommended for this challenge.
Maps: Any MM1 Robot Master Stages

Total Termination Challenge
Description: Be the one to kill everyone in the opposing team for all 3 rounds!

Mode: TLMS
Flags/Settings: win limit 3
Other Notes: The challenger must participate in a standard TLMS and kill the opposing team 3 times (3 wins) and not lose one game. There must be at least 8 combatants (including the challenger) on even teams. The player dropout rule still applies and it is the same as the Cutman Challenge rule.
Maps: MM1GUT, MM2BUB, MM3TOP, MM4PHA, MM5GRA, MM6CEN

All Star
Description: Complete all the above challenges.

I would really wish to give medals, banner, or some other kind of reward to people that can pull anyone of these off. Anyone donating good looking awards are welcome!

GOOD LUCK FOLKS AND HAVE FUN!!!

I do not see this "tourney" goin' anywhere far.

Heck, the new class wad is comin' out soon, so I'd say this topic shouldn't have been here in the first place.
Okay, that maybe a bit harsh on my last statement but I'll add one last comment.

As fun as this sounds, this is more or less a luck based tourney and not a tourney to be taken seriously at all . Skill based tourneys are more favorable.
