General Gaming Discussion / Re: What do "hardcore" and "casual" mean to you?

In a nutshell:
Hardcore - You play the game in a competitive manner in order to maintain a good overall win - lose record. I also believe that things like glitch hunting and TAS plays in a single player game are considered hardcore, because these usually require lots of work.
Casual - It depends on the game. You can play a game that is single player or has little to no interaction with other players, and there still are ways to play that can be defined as hardcore, as stated above. However, casual is when you play games for the sheer fun of it without keeping any records.
They're both alright. Whether you're demonstrating your skill or having shits and giggles, as long as you find it fun, it's all good. Bashing players who are "n00bs" or because "they take the game seriously" is not. The way I see it, it's like a dumbed down version of racism among players, and it doesn't help the fact that no one likes getting depressed when they're trying to find an escape from boring daily life, either.

Ah well, but that's not what this topic is about. It's just something that bothers me, is all.

Do they need separate tags though?
