In a nutshell:

Hardcore - You play the game in a competitive manner in order to maintain a good overall win - lose record. I also believe that things like glitch hunting and TAS plays in a single player game are considered hardcore, because these usually require lots of work.

Casual - It depends on the game. You can play a game that is single player or has little to no interaction with other players, and there still are ways to play that can be defined as hardcore, as stated above. However, casual is when you play games for the sheer fun of it without keeping any records.

They're both alright. Whether you're demonstrating your skill or having shits and giggles, as long as you find it fun, it's all good. Bashing players who are "n00bs" or because "they take the game seriously" is not. The way I see it, it's like a dumbed down version of racism among players, and it doesn't help the fact that no one likes getting depressed when they're trying to find an escape from boring daily life, either.

...

Ah well, but that's not what this topic is about. It's just something that bothers me, is all.

Help & Editing / Re: How do "I" do THAT in Doom Builder?

How do I make it so that fences (middle textures) I place can be jumped over and stood on? I never really understood it.

Found out myself just now.  :p  Do they need separate tags though?

EDIT: And also, how do I give linedefs a property for climbing (ladders)?

Found it in Flanny's tutorial. >_>

Well, if you absolutely need to re-make Leaf Shield completely, the first thing to do is make it not a weaker/stronger version of another barrier. It needs to retain uniqueness. With that in mind, let's sum the facts up, despite everyone knowing them:

Skull Barrier- Invincibility
Plant Barrier- Recovery
Star Crash- Kamikaze Offensive/Get Offa Me Barrier  :p
Junk Shield- Defense Up

I really like the reflective properties of the Leaf Shield, so how about implementing it in another way? Players bumped into by a Leaf Shield get bounced back (bump distance can be adjusted to a suitable level) and every time a player is bumped, Leaf Shield loses ammo. Getting bounced will not hurt, but getting hit by a flying Leaf Shield will do the usual. You might think it's useless, but what if you get sped up when you have it on? Because you can't pit the buster against it's Agility! It would be wise considering you can't really attack.

As for getting hit when you have Leaf Shield on, I say it should still prevent Magnet and Dive Missiles from hitting, and everything else causes a little less damage, but just a little less so it differs from Junk Shield.

I really like the current Leaf Shield, but since Cutty really wants to change, that's the way I'd have it. Or something like that... >_>

In Game Name: Knux (But I changed it to Knuxman, might keep it.)
Favorite game mode: Rage Roboenza, Classes. I like the others too, but those two are the best for me.
Favorite weapon: Hyper Bomb, Crystal Eye.
prefered skin; Tomahawk Man
Favorite stage: Mr. X, Knight Man. (And Shrine Battle in the CSCM pack.)
Greatest Rival: Uhh... no one?
Reputation: Don't know, but I usually get along with everyone.
anything else?: I wish some people stopped raging over camping, music, stages (I sympathize Gyro Man though) and raging in general. The way I see it, we go online to forget our daily life frustrations and you want to create more for yourselves and others? No, no, no... just, no.  :|

I'm going to place my two (or four!?) cents right before this ends:

Leaf Shield - I think it's fine as it is. The only thing making it hard to counter would be bad weapon availability in a level, and everyone knows how hard it is to use just a weak Mega Buster to hit those people when there are others behind you or something!

Skull Barrier - Just fine the way it is. It saves you in a pinch, but it's over in a decent amount of time.

Plant Barrier - Don't see a problem with it, honestly. I tried.  :|

Star Crash - If you think it drains too fast, maybe increase the damage just a tiny bit? Increasing the radius would make it annoying for those hit in small maps, and decreasing the damage would be kinda risky for those using it, though it can work. Still, I can do with the current version of this weapon.

As for Junk Shield, that's very similar to what I had in mind. Are you going to make it so it spreads like Power Stone when you press fire again while having the Junk Shield equipped?  ;)

In the end, using both a shield and a weapon at the same time doesn't really smell balanced to me... I mean, just imagine using Skull Barrier to get up close for a Hard Knuckle or Top Spin...

I picked Black up around the end of March, and all I have left to do now is try some of the new features, get a few White exclusives and start up the competitive stuff. So much to do.  :D

Found a weird bug while playing this. There were 3 people (including me) playing, and one of us got roboenza. One of the non-infected fell too far, leaving the other 2, then the normal NOHOPE music played and the last non-infected player did not get the Rage bonus. We tested this twice and happened both times. Not sure if it can happen with more people, but it's not right.

I was a member of Cutstuff before the GvH Expansion, Cold Demise, was announced. Naturally, I eventually heard about this game as well, and even though I never played the alpha which was supposedly terribad, I did play the demo day and night until the full game was out.

At age 7 or 8, I think. My dad rented me Megaman 7 and the fever began. Later, when the Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube came out, I got the chance to beat all the others.

I also traded one of my GB games for MM1 (GB) after beating 7 for the SNES, and only much later found out it had sequels, but never got my hands on any.  :(

Well, you can, but... you know... IT CREEPS PEOPLE OUT... >_>

Speaking of 8-bit Megaman, I remember playing a stage where there was this eyeball mid-boss and took forever to finish. I then later return to the stage and find out it has a weakness weapon which kills it almost instantly. Got a bit ticked at it.  :p

Anything Goes / Re: The guess that map forum!

If this were like Quiz Advent, where the camera zooms in ridiculously onto bosses's pixels and you try to guess which one it is, it would be hella interesting. Just a suggestion: You could try a zoomed in pic, then a zoomed out one when guessed...  :p
