The Ghoul's Forest / Re: YOUR ideas for Ghoul and Human classes
« on: October 21, 2009, 08:23:31 PM »
Funny you made this topic, Cutman. I was thinking about this yesterday night and thought of coming here today and making a topic about it.  :D

Lemme keep these here for quick reference and editing later.

What is it's name?
What is it's story?
What does it look like? (feel free to post sprites/images)
How does it play? (physics, abilities)
What are it's weapons?
Why does it belong on GVH?

Here's a human class...

Name/Story/Look: Haven't thought of it yet. (I'll edit this when I have it.)

How does it play?: He/She should run at a pace a bit slower than Marine's speed, be able to camouflage him/herself while standing still (Doom's Invisibility shadow effect), and his/her steps should be unheard when walking (when running, it will be heard). This human class should also be able to duck low enough to fit in holes, and thus hunt Creepers. While crawling, he/she is surprisingly quick, but just enough to outrun the Creeper and it's definitely NOT an alternative to running. His/Her health is set at 90, the lowest HP of the human team. This class is basically the Humans's answer to the Ghouls's Creeper, and are therefore rivals.

Notes: Jumps 0.5 higher than the marine (with all that weaponry!? D:), is weak to Jitterskull's Crunch Attack, and is technically unaffected by the Creeper Curse Balls's paralyzing effect, aside from the damage which he/she still receives.

The Weapons?: 2 of them. As a primary weapon, he/she has flametrower used for flushing out hiding enemies. It can reach mid-range or farther away by presing fire or altfire respectively, but using altfire will consume gas more quickly (Altfire could alternatively launch a fireball, like that flamethrower in AEoD). The other weapon is a Sniper Rifle for far away targets, which includes another altfire as well. It's a Flash Bang (limited to 3) that you can throw to blind your enemies should they get close enough to you while you're sniping. Be careful though, because if you or your buddies get caught looking at the flash bang's explosion inside of the blindness radius, you will also be blinded momentarily. Frostbite is inmune to this (as it has no physical eyes), and Jitterskull is blinded for a reduced amount of time by it, making it virtually useless. You can use it to run away from nasty Sjas and the fast running Choke.

Note: The flames from the flamethrower are resisted by Jitterskull, so be wary. Also, the Flash Bangs cause very little damage to an opponent that gets hit by it's small radius explosion, and they explode upon one bounce so turn your back right away.

Why does it belong in GvH?: The Humans need a proper stealth class. A role switch of a human creeping up on Ghouls should be interesting and fun to try out.

A Ghoul class: I have one in the GF4 topic, where I made my first post  :)

Eisgeist? That's German for "Ice Ghost". Simple, but German isn't a very common language anyway. It's probably something else.  :p

The Ghoul's Forest / Re: Cyborg-ing
« on: October 11, 2009, 10:32:36 PM »
I discovered something myself recently. For those people who don't use mouse free look, they can strafe-fly to escape tight situations. It saves plasma, goes faster than running and gives you a breather to plan your next move.

Also, when dropping from tall heights, the Cyborg does a "CLANK!" sound which can be heard by opponents. If for some reason you plan on camping with the Cyborg, but are afraid you'll be heard, use the jet pack when dropping or for moving around. It will make for a soft landing, preventing enemies that haven't seen you from knowing you're nearby. Of course, the jet pack's sound can be heard, but it's much less loud than slamming into the ground or having your location revealed because of the footsteps. This can be also used to lure enemies who see your jet pack smoke into Ghostbuster traps.

This guide is looking good! It's true that knowledge is pwnage!  :D

As for camping, like everything else, it has it's pros and cons. If someone is whining about people camping it's probably because they're either too lazy to develop a strategy to lure them out, are constantly owned by it, or simply don't have the guts to try it themselves or counter-measure it. That's why it's good to have a balanced team. A team full of Creepers can camp in teleporters, but that will just get the humans looking at the floor all the time...

Myself, I camp sometimes, I head in the middle of a fight sometimes, and sometimes I run like hell blasting crap. Whatever suits the situation.

It's MegaKnuckles777, after an account I used to have on Gamefaqs, but that was closed for various reasons.  :-|

How about you make it so it gets his mist ball back when it kills a human? I imagine the mist bomb will be that mist cloud spreading effect that happens when you kill it in the icy addon map for GF3, right? Just do it so it only lasts for a moment (otherwise people would set up us the bomb on inescapable places). Should make for some interesting moments.

EDIT: And an achievement named "Mist Bomber!" or something for killing 2 or more humans with a Mist Bomb.

Aside from that, I was playing AEoD and used the grey looking shot of the Experimental Cannon. It looks decent enough to be an attack too, though I'd rather stick with the Mist Bomb since it brings something new to the Ghoul team.

(not sprites or the GVH artwork that's been used OVER AND OVER).

*facepalm* And only now I noticed this. Well, I couldn't have seen it earlier anyway since I made that before joining the forums. It was fun, though. *sigh*

Anything Goes / Re: Where did you get your name?

In my first year of college, which was 05-06. I met a group of people called the Gamer's Guild, and when I went to join them, I saw a space for a nickname in their sign up paper. It wasn't obligatory, but one day when we played Melee, I came up with "Knux" since I needed something for them to quickly refer to me as, and because I saw a comic cover of Sonic in the mega collection CD for the GC that had "Knux" (Knuckles abbreviated) in the days before that and I thought it sounded cool.

Since them, I'm used to people calling me nicknames. It was a bit uncomfortable at first (because I never had people calling me nicknames), but I ended up having fun with it.  :)

Hmm, which of them? *handpicks*

...

I was 8 years old. I was taking a shower at my grandma's house, then put my towel on when I was done and headed to the guest room. I slipped and fell in the living room, the towel went flying to who knows where, and my grandma AND her guests were watching.

Sirs, I've provided you with jokes for a whole (insert time period here).

and so many of them are the same stuff whit minor changes D:

Perhaps you're on to something about this. Maybe they're just regurgitating the same gameplay on us with a change here and there and feeding on our lint encrusted pocket change. But I like to look at Pokemon as a growing series. The battle style and formula of gameplay has always worked for the series, and games such as Mystery Dungeon and Ranger (Ugh... nauseous...) failed to capture the entertainment and fun of the original games, and thus their sales went lower than the main series. This could've been Nintendo's try at proving their theory of: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

They're always trying new stuff. It's what they do. But not everything new will always be a good thing. Think about this like you would think of older games being better than some crappy new ones currently in the market (Examples: Wii Shop Channel, re-makes of older games, etc). What Nintendo has seen in their sales chart reflects what gamers like the most, and which games are the cash cows of the industry.

Gaming are serious business.

Here's mine. I had E-mailed it to Cutman before joining the forums, but I don't know if he noticed it, so here it is again:

Yes, this is epic late, but I want it to be noticed anyway.  ;)

EDIT: Yes, poor quality, but nice theme IMO. With some greater tools available, it would've been epic, but my resources are kind of... limited. You may use this as a guide to do one if you'd like, because I know for sure that a banner made in MS Paint isn't decent enough.

Then you should remove the poll because the time to ask for people's opinion's isn't right yet. Wait until you've actually finished the ghoul, then we can avoid this waste of time and cut to the good stuff.

I'll update my video description with a disclaimer that says this thing isn't the final product, so that people stop saying stuff over at Youtube.
