Mega Man Zero 3 is probably the best Mega Man game ever period.
Except maybe Mega Man 9.  Nah, Zero 3 is better.
This
Aw, nuts. Am I the only one here who preferred Zero 4 to Zero 3? Don't get me wrong, I like Zero 3 too. Zero 4 just seems far more creative overall with things like the Z-Knuckle, Elves, etc. I guess it really comes down to how you feel about the Knuckle.

Projects & Creative / Ah, I hoped you would like Item-2. Oh well.

If that's the case... Why did you replace the sounds, then? I'm confused as to why the existing sounds would need replacements, be it original sounds or other games. I'm not sure what's being considered.

As for E-tanks, I could replace them with a slow, non-instant refilling tank. The standard E-tank is a bit of a huge advantage for the copy ability classes if left alone. (Savior's ideas are perhaps even more advantageous.)

Not sure what do with Charge at this point, although I'm aware he needs something.

Projects & Creative / Newsflash: ICTF02 has Sakugarne
« on: May 08, 2012, 06:19:42 AM »
I'm for axing the crushers.

The gravity room I won't miss too much. I can see some people missing it because you'll make the map more symmetrical, although I have a feeling this would be better. (I have a hunch most people would pick the lava room 100% of the time for reasons you stated).

But Sakugarne!? Without your map, Saku won't be in any CTF map! That means the entire CTF map set loses the best weapon ever. (I suppose if you really do not have any more place to put it. But losing that would be a terrible disappointment. I mean, we'd have to start playing ICTF02 again.)

Anything Goes / God help you if you use Sonic music.
« on: May 08, 2012, 06:12:04 AM »
What's the issue? Creating a map based off a stock map would be easier. You don't need originality to succeed! There aren't entirely a lot of textures to choose from for CTF compared to regular maps to begin with.

I'd worry more about that music.

... I just figured out what Ivory meant by "four blizzard blocks".

Holy crap 6000 units is HUUUUGE!! I probably won't even need HALF of that!
Distance travelled is a more important element to consider than time. Mendez's average time taken to get from one flag to the other was 30-35 seconds. Traps in CTF05 increase the length of time getting the flag without changing the size. Which is why a size cap is important. (Maps can be too small, too. 06 is a classic example of CTF mapping failure. If it was submitted at this time I doubt it would be accepted.)

Another question: Where's the textures stuff for 9, 10, and Bass? I'm not really intending to use custom textures, as I'm going to vanilla stuff.
R&F textures have been ripped by NemZ. CopShowGuy has ripped Endless textures from 9 and 10. Splash Woman textures can be found in Ryuga Knight's map pack. TBG pack has used some of the endless textures and has a few texture recolors in his map pack; X-pack contains Needle Man recolors. You can probably find any stage from 9 and 10 at vgmaps.com if you want to go the long way. If you want a cool skybox, look at the "sunset" skybox used in official target maps.

If you want a good model to use from the existing CTF maps, use 10. 03 covers the basics well also. TBG03 and XCTF02 (Corvus Keep and Molten Mountain, I believe) are not stock but also play fairly well. I could highlight obvious flaws in 01, 02, and 06 if anyone isn't aware of them.

MM8BDM Discussion / I hope this doesn't go beyond the month month.

I nominate Zerox Daniel.

I'm going to go with Shade Guy on this one: focus on the quick beams in IDM05. The rest of the traps are manageable without too much thought. The quick beams are really too fast and dangerous to approach virtually ever. The ones on Time Stopper don't bisect an area; the other ones do.

I suppose the dark room's interval changing wouldn't hurt. I haven't looked at that area in a long time. (It's dark, you know.)

Anything Goes / Ivory will always be a xe to me.

I guess there is one thing Gawayno can learn from this, though: Don't trust people with "Sonic" in their namesWho you have in a particular group chat is important. When you added "drama guy" to the chat, the chat was killed with drama. Sometimes a single person can go against a group's dynamics and it's important to consider that before you  add anyone. (This community had a 3-person chat that was killed by the addition of a fourth. It can happen in any scenario!) Not only that: The response to this happening is always a basic collective-action problem. No one wants to remove him, so they all just... Migrate. Not worth the effort from my point, really. I'd just axe him and take credit. At least I'd be honest about what I was doing and not secretly hiding.

The last one is really the worst, though. Ivory had to lock his photobucket and that made me sad. Sometimes you just can't take chances. After all, trolls are predictable. "You can always expect a dishonest man to be dishonest", you know.  :geek:

(Speaking of him. Gawayno wants people to know how he feels, and all you lot care about is Ivory!? For shame!)

That's an interesting list, but I wouldn't forget about strafe speeds as well. (You don't have to go list those, but considering them is important). Top's strafe speed is very high, so it's faster to get around using left and right. Napalm, on the other hand, has a very low strafe speed (since he's on treads).

I can agree with Knux, perhaps the Item-2 can replace something else?
What would replace e-tanks, then? That's the more important issue.

MM8BDM Discussion / Short version: PU expansion is garbage.
« on: April 30, 2012, 01:35:44 PM »
Powered Up is not canon.

PU contains no more than two original robot master elements, putting it below even Genesis Unit. (Which, at one point in time was considered to be included in the R&F expansion.) The Powered Up expansion can't even be bothered to differentiate itself graphically from the original Mega Man art style, and the two new robot masters contain overall poorly-executed gimmicks.

The point is moot either way, as after Mega Man 8's expansion is released it's doubtful that enough serious coders will be around to continue any official expansion. This is why I wouldn't actually mind the inclusion of graphics from MM9 and 10 in the next release; given that the majority of MM9 skins are already done, it would be a gigantic waste just to let the them rot for the sake of the purism. (Example: RNC expansion, which has 8 maps and weapons and won't be released.) At least they'll get to be used by someone.

(I suppose another expansion could happen if Shade Guy REALLY has the balls to churn out 8 maps for whatever new blood coder feels like making weapons. But if R&F never happened over a year ago, it's unreasonable to expect it to happen now.)

MM8BDM Discussion / Not like this was my idea or anything, of course.

Fourthing Shade's suggestion. I'm a fan of qbox myself.

Yeah, Yamato is still around. I don't plan on releasing a new version until the next set of classes are done. (Updating the current classes is relatively minor. Only a few double bars, Drill Man, etc.)

I think the "Attack Unit" icon is a good idea. I'd like things to be intuitive as possible all-around.

Bumped, but I was wondering: Why must something nearly useless as Item 2 must replace E-Tanks on maps? I understand replacing the Proto and Bass Upgrades with the Power and Jet adaptors because here are classes of them, but E-Tank? Come one now, it breaks stuff on the maps, not to mention only the hero classes can use it.
Item-2 can be quite useful for its speed. You travel faster than normal while using it, so it can help you escape. (We tried using it in an early Possession mode. It's quite fearsome. Sniper Joe can't use it now, though.)

What? No one dropped the FI Rule to my knowledge. (Someone was banned recently because of it.)

You might be over-thinking it. Can you remember anyone's first post? Really, when you think about it, everyone is the same way. Posts are just a form of regular communication, and the first is no different from the rest. (Or the last, even.) I wouldn't really consider it a bad thing, either. I also joined the forum just so to share some thought on ideas, but I branched out into basic discussions. I wouldn't consider that bad by any means: you're just becoming more integrated into the community. Assimilated, if you will. Automatic mimicry is human; all people imitate the behavior and mannerisms of people around them to some degree. It's only a social function. That's nothing to be ashamed of. I don't speak lightly, either. There have been people on this forum who have been incredibly attention-seeking at one point or another. For some people, having created any sort of wad, or even a non-existent "expansion" gives them room to brag and self-promote their own work at any chance they get. Some people engage in mundane activities such as server-hosting, bending for absolutely anyone and then act as if they're some kind of marvelous benefactor.

Are you an attention-seeker? Not in a long shot. It's kind of humorous coming from  you, because I'll admit: I HAVE seen you as the "silent, emotionless, stoic player" for some time, who only spoke words to a certain person who's no longer here. Of course, you're still only a person. Or two people, actually. Some might, but I don't. After some of the recent stunts from this community it comes off as pretty tame. If anything, you really did it for the opposite: To distance others from yourself. And it worked, probably.

Don't let the community decide what to do for you, though. THAT would make you an attention-seeker. And as of now, you're still far from it. If you're content with yourself, do what you want and be a part of the community you like, not the ones who tell you what to do.
