Since Ran's thread blew up, I'm going to post this here.

We should have an event for showcasing mods that aren't named Saxton Hale and map packs that aren't named IX-Pack or CSCM, in game modes that aren't Deathmatch. This would work like Sunday Shenanigans, with the following repeating cycle, subject to change:

Week 1:
Scan for map packs and mods that are cool
    Pick one
Week 2:
    Host chosen wads on BEST-EVER
    ???
    PROFIT
Week 3:
Scan for map packs and mods that are cool
    Pick a bunch of them
Start poll at the end of the week
Week 4:
    Host poll-picked wads on BEST-EVER
    ???
    PROFIT

What do you think, are you interested in being staff, what time and day should it be on, etc.

This is absolutely hilarious. The idea is that you can bet on AIvsAI MUGEN matches with random characters with funny money called SaltyBucks. The real entertainment value, however, is in the chat and in the odd fights that result when you fold Sturgeon's Law back in on itself. For example, I just watched a match of Tonberry vs. EVA-00 where the match was decided by one whiffed Longinus toss that sent everyone betting to the salt mines.

MM8BDM Discussion / BE VIGILANT: Wallhack discovered
« on: October 20, 2013, 12:57:25 PM »

I have a feeling that much like Unix (who was banned from Zandronum for harassing staff) wallhackers will be trying to keep to MM8BDM out of a perception that MM8BDM players are too dumb to know what to do in situations like this. Can't have that, can we?

Cutstuff Discussion and Feedback / What do you think about Korby?
« on: October 20, 2013, 11:49:44 AM »
After WheelieCarbonate's recent ban, I decided to talk to him about it. He said that he was intentionally trying to get himself banned because of the perceived failings of the CutStuff community, and because of the belief that Korby had a personal vendetta against him.

And so, here we are. What do you think about Korby? Specifically, do you think he's doing a good job of moderating the forums? Please note that I'm not trying to stir up drama here, just trying to figure out if there's a genuine problem here or if Swuss was just butthurt.

So X-COM is discounted on Steam this week. Might as well make a thread about it.

X-COM is a game series about the harrowing experience of fending off an alien invasion. While you have the weight of the world's resources at your back for the moment, the aliens have the advantage of overwhelming firepower and singular devotion to your destruction, are capable of subverting your ground troops and even the Funding Council against you through psychic might, and will happily (in the first game at least; Enemy Unknown is better-designed in this respect) pit your squad of Ricky Redshirts against living tanks twice their size. Expect heavy casualties.

Not enough Link Units!

General Gaming Discussion / Divekick
« on: September 02, 2013, 06:23:00 PM »

Not much else to say about this really. There's a dive, and a kick, and that's it.

Reasons to buy Divekick:
The distilled essence of the fighting game genre
No need to memorize how each character works in detail, just pick up and go
Stephen Hawking could play this game (physical disability is no object)
Good training tool for other fighters

Reasons not to buy Divekick:
$10 for the kind of game you'd find for free on Miniclip
Renders at 720p no matter what
No Mac/Linux support, for those that care
PewDiePie made a video about this
FGC in-jokes border on the cancerous (if you don't know what Stream is named after and why he has a salt shaker, you'll probably be annoyed very quickly)
The players online who aren't PewDiePie noobs are more likely than not to be sceners working on their game who will kick your shit in

Thoughts?

Did I say Diablo III? I meant Torchlight, since it's the closest to a sequel to Diablo II you're getting.

Think LoL with environmental destruction and DC characters. Closed beta is available, and I just got my key; anyone interested?

Well, Zandronum in general. Watch (and panic) live here. Yes, this could be a good thing, but remember what happened with the homies for a second.

I was thinking about Myroc's "how to post" tutorial (for which he is credit to team), and I realized that post-MM8BDM this forum has the same demographics as SRB2 - that same cross-section of "free game", "popular franchise", and "runs on crappy computers" that attracts annoying immature 8- to 12-year-olds who possess minimal composition and reading comprehension skills, have absolutely no clue about how anything works, and try to make themselves look important by announcing grand mod ideas only to give up when they realize that making stuff requires skill and effort or to have their creations be torn a new asshole by the more seasoned members of the community.

Now, SRB2MB's admins recently got fed up with this, and implemented a new rule: Immaturity will not be tolerated. Since CutStuff's situation is similar, maybe we could do something similar.
