So I'm going to be working on another hub map once I'm done fixing HUB-MM8BDM. Unlike that mod, this will actually be a DUEL32 replacement. (Well, technically the map will be a skin of DUEL16, but I digress.) However, to do that, I'll need suggestions for maps to include - and that's where you come in.

Current map list:

I ask the competitive-oriented members of this community to pick what they think are the best maps for Duel. They can be from the main game or custom maps, but keep in mind that I would like a good balance between the two.

MM8BDM Discussion / BEST-EVER - automated servers for Zandronum
« on: August 11, 2012, 03:57:21 PM »
Just uploaded MM8BDM to the server's wadlist. I think we should start running Zandronum servers to see if anything breaks.

Read the instructions at http://servers.best-ever.org/ and remember that you'll have to register a nickname on irc.zandronum.com to do anything. You'll also need doom2.wad, as megagame.wad isn't supported as an IWAD yet. You might be able to get by with a renamed megagame.wad, but I'm not sure if that will work.

Anything Goes / Name your favorite B:TAS moments
« on: July 22, 2012, 09:08:19 PM »
So The Dark Night Makes A Hell Of A Lot Of Money Rises opened this Friday, and The Hub did a Batman marathon for the occasion. WARNING INCOMING AWESOME

So I was thinking about what Cutstuff's favorite moments from the series were. For the sake of spoilers, I'm going to say upfront that anything from Return of the Joker doesn't count. Post YouTube videos when possible.

For me it's the usual suspects - Heart of Ice, Two-Face, The Last Laugh. This, however, stands out:
That scene marks the moment when Dini & Co. decided that they could pretty much get away with murder, radar-wise, as long as they kept bringing in ratings and made token gestures to keep the censors happy when they flagged a scene. Scratch that, that was from New Batman Adventures. The point still stands, though.

General Gaming Discussion / Skullgirls
« on: April 14, 2012, 11:13:53 PM »

Skullgirls (tropes here) is a fighting game created by fighting game enthusiast Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont, and involves various girls with supernatural powers (and a... thing) fighting to possess your average jackass wish-granter, the Skull Heart. Its fighting system is based on the Capcom games of the 1990s, with several additions added to help balance high-level play.

In other words, with Capcom refusing to greenlight any fighting games that don't have "Street Fighter" or "VS." in the name, this is the closest we're ever going to get to a Darkstalkers sequel.

If you have this game, please say so with your system and online ID for the convenience of your fellow forum-goers.

MM8BDM Discussion / Skulltag is open source.

This is a Very Big Thing. With the source, we can create our own fork and tweak things the way we want them. Of course, it would be more trouble than it's worth to distribute the forked binaries (since we would probably need our own master server)  so we can't get too crazy. It's still worth at least starting a fork, though, since we can always submit the patches for inclusion in the trunk.

New Physics engine (no more spiderhog?)
    Tails
    Metal Sonic (whoo hoo!)

This might actually not suck.

A statement from Apple stated the following…
Quote
We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.
A message on the Apple website invited people to send their condolences to this email address.

“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius,” says the message, “and the world has lost an amazing human being.”

General Gaming Discussion / Where the wenches be?

Been playing this for a while now, it's got quite a following despite not having all it's classes implemented. Plus it's free (with purchase of a Source game, but if you have Steam chances are you have one already) and has an attack parrot weapon, so how can you go wrong?

Apparently, the OtherOS lawsuits must be gaining traction, because I just noticed this in my e-mail:

http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com ... ENT-EN.pdf

Quote
If you have a Dispute with any Sony Entity or any of a Sony Entity’s officers, directors, employees and agents that cannot be resolved through negotiation within the time frame described in the “Notice of Dispute” clause below. Other than those matters listed in the Exclusions from Arbitration clause, you and the Sony Entity that you have a Dispute with agree to seek resolution of the Dispute only through arbitration of that Dispute in accordance with the terms of this Section 15, and not litigate any Dispute in court. Arbitration means that the Dispute will be resolved by a neutral arbitrator instead of in a court by a judge or jury.

This is because arbitration doesn't set legal precedent. Luckily, they covered everyone's ass with this:

RIGHT TO OPT OUT OF BINDING ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER WITHIN 30 DAYS. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE BOUND BY THE BINDING ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER IN THIS SECTION 15, YOU MUST NOTIFY SNEI IN WRITING WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE THAT YOU ACCEPT THIS AGREEMENT. General Gaming Discussion / Anyone else play this? (Chaotic TCG)

Been in stasis for a while now, but the system is a thing of beauty. Reason I ask is because I'm trying to scrape together the building blocks for a community-built replacement to the Chaotic game engine for when the legal proceedings against 4Kids reach their conclusion and the website gets scrapped.

DECORATE and ACS Modifications / Balrog's Handy HAX - Switcherizer
« on: June 23, 2011, 11:58:11 PM »
Switcherizer lets you switch things on and off via console variables. Don't like Time Stopper not being in Duel? Now you can turn Duel item removal on and off at will! Want to use LMS weapon rotations in DM? Now you can!

Current console variables supported:
(click to show/hide)

Switcherizer uses a custom SBARINFO and WCOLORS. This means that, say, Powered UP and Classes will need their own custom versions of Switcherizer. In addition, to host a Switcherizer server, you need to type "puke 41" into the console with Switcherizer loaded in Single Player. This only needs to be done once.

Version 0.2 for v2b
Version 0.2 for v2c
Version 0.3 for v2c - now on WadHost!

So: this is a bunch of whacks in way over their heads, conducting a survey that has been dissed as unethical, poorly designed, and just plain creepy, all for info that I could get from half an hour of TV Tropes?
