Skins & Bots etc / Re: zero-2

Welcome to the forums!

As far as I know, the skins of Axl, X, and Zero are not available separately.

But, you can play as those characters (with their weapons!) in the Mega Man X Single Player mod. It's a great mod that allows you to play as these classes in 3D, progress-based (as opposed to Deathmatch) interpretations of classic Mega Man stages.

Had some extremely tense matches with XXXChaotiXXX. Great games, you guys, and well done... but next time it will go differently!

It's incredible how many super-hype matches we've seen so far in this event - I think perhaps this has been the densest tournament I've seen in terms of close matches and tense moments! It's great seeing so many teams itching to play their rivals and get to those rematches too. As I said before, hopefully with school break for the holidays coming up, we'll see matches happening faster so 911 play sooner so that things move along more quickly! But for now, just keep training hard, as everyone will have their time to shine!

That all being said, for those wondering about the state of The GG's vs. Team Blossom (the only match currently exceeding the 2 week benchmark since determination), that much has been scheduled for later this week to a good (I think) degree of certainty.

As for the four matches determined and waiting to happen in the lower bracket, I'll be asking around for more updates today, but communication is occurring!

911 was dialed many times in our match against THE STRUGGLE IS OVER.

Round 1: MM8DW2 - 911's pick
911 2-1 THE STRUGGLE IS OVER

Round 2: MM1OIL - THE STRUGGLE IS OVER's pick
THE STRUGGLE IS OVER 2-0 911

Round 3: MMBKIN - Mutual pick
911 2-0 THE STRUGGLE IS OVER

Great games, you guys! I was on edge the entire time. Best of luck down in your bracket, perhaps we shall meet in this tournament again.

Unfortunately, Knights Templar vs. MarkSman Hunters have still been unable to complete their match. Considering I allowed an extra day on top of the extra week added onto the original time limit, I'm afraid as a responsible organizer it's about time I take action so the rest of the bracket can commence.

Based upon the effort I observed put in by both teams to get the match done, including making time, communicating, etc., I have decided to advance MarkSman Hunters to the next round, when means that Knights Templar have dropped to the lower bracket. Blackerman was very helpful in organizing his team, and there was hardly a time when he was not on top of his team mates' availability. I hope Knights Templar have better luck scheduling and doing their match with SUPER DUPER HIGH SCHOOL ULTIMATE DESPAIR.

That being said, with winter break approaching quickly for a lot of contestants, hopefully that means matches will continue to get done! We've already seen a lot of hype matches and 2-1 sets so far, so I'm excited to see what's in store! Keep up the good work everyone! Just as an extra extra reminder, here are the matches currently needing to happen (just going down the bracket).

Team BasedSnackage vs. MarkSman Hunters
Team Blossom vs. The GG'S
Team 911 vs. THE STRUGGLE IS OVER
SUPER DUPER HIGH SCHOOL ULTIMATE DESPAIR vs. Knights Templar
The Wuonejos vs. Sapphire Fist
Dammmm Bulshit vs. Dan, Dan and L.S

Let's keep up the hype everybody!

Round 1: MM3MAG - 911's pick
911 2-0 Sapphire Fist

Round 2: MMBCOL - Sapphire Fist's pick
911 2-0 Sapphire Fist

Great games, gentlemen! Good luck in the lower bracket!

Alright, it's past 2 weeks now, so time for an update.

I am giving both remaining first round matches - Knights Templar vs. MaskSman Hunters and Sapphire Fist vs. Dan, Dan and L.S - until Sunday at 12:00 AM EST (UTC-05:00) to complete or (or begin with intent of finishing in the same session) their matches. If this deadline is not meant, I will bump one team from each matchup into the lower bracket, based upon activity.

Knights Templar vs. MarkSman Hunters: I'm giving you this time because because both teams have been trying to schedule a time.
Sapphire Fist vs. Dan, Dan and L.S: I'm giving you this time because subsequent matches are being held up by Llama's absence until December anyway. For those wondering, the forfeit that Dan posted was just a matter of me not communicating well over the past day, for which I apologize.

This does not mean the 2 week rule has been uniformly extended. As I mentioned in the rules I am free to change this limit so long as I notify via this thread.

I apologize to Team BasedSnackage on behalf of Knights Templar and MarkSman Hunters - you'll get to play soon!

Thank you all for your patience. We all knew going into it that this tournament would be a little slower. But it's certainly worth it - look at all of the hype matches we've had already!

Actually Dan, I didn't say no to you. If you'll recall, the conversation took place in a server where The GG's were present, who were wondering about a temporary replacement for one match, when one of their members had been unable to play. I said no to that, and then when you asked about a replacement member, it seemed to me you were asking about the same thing; that is, replacing a member for one match.

We can talk about replacing a member permanently, but privately please.

That being said, I will update the Sapphire Fist roster.

In addition, in a similar vein, I have confirmation that James (Perfectlylegit) will be replaced by SKZ on Knights Templar. SKZ should be posting information here soon.

Since I'm here, allow me to give a brief update on the state of things.

Team WTF vs. Team Blossom: At the moment I understand this match is scheduled for later this evening.
Los 2 B vs. UNATCO: As I understand this match has been scheduled for the upcoming weekend. If someone from one of these teams could confirm with me (not publicly) the time and date, that'd be great.
SDHSUD vs. Mecha Breaker: While I know the match has been deferred to Friday, I'm not aware of any specific plans. Please keep me in the loops on this and try to work out more exact details for Friday.
MarkSman Hunters vs. Knights Templar: I have a time which I believe this match has been scheduled for for the weekend.
Dan, Dan and L.S vs. Sapphire Fist: Given Dan's post I assume Team Dan, Dan and L.S is seeking a replacement for a some member, but for the sake of organization and rigor I am operating under the assumption that the teams are finalized until I hear otherwise. Sapphire Fist now has its last member so I want to some discussion of exact dates and times for the match (in the Skype chat of course.)

Please remember:
-You are responsible for communicating with your opponents and your team.
-You are responsible for communicating with me.
-You are responsible for committing to the tournament on your own behalf AND ON BEHALF OF YOUR TEAM.

Also, huge shout-out to Michael for helping me coordinate these matches!

Let's keep up the good work everyone!

As I know one or two matches are set to occur tonight and I will be absent for a few hours, please know that I have given Muzaru and Michael (via PM) the RCON password for the 3v3 TLMS server. I trust both of them, so when I'm not around to administrate the server please speak with them.

Non-participants are welcome to host servers so long as they meet the requirements stated in the rules, and are stable. In addition, you must be able to provide server logs should I request them.

However, I would highly prefer and recommend to all teams to use the BE server(s) I have set up as a first resort, for the sole reason that I have easy access to those server logs in case they are necessary.

18 teams...
35 matches...
54 players...

BUT ONLY ONE WINNING TEAM

It's time to begin the biggest tournament Cutstuff has ever seen!

Before we begin, there are some additional rules. I will add these to the first post momentarily.

2. d) To decide which team picks the first map, EITHER both teams agree that one or the other picks first, OR a third party (that is, not on either team, unless agreed upon by both teams) will toss a coin. Heads means that the team on the TOP of the Challonge match up will pick first. Tails means the team on the BOTTOM of the Challonge match up will pick first.

10. Activity clause. If a match goes undone for 2 weeks after the match up has been decided, OR if a team is unresponsive for 5 days since they last communicated, I reserve the right disqualify the team that has been less active. Being active means communicating with me AND your opponents to set times for matches, and making those scheduled times. Depending on the circumstances I may allow more time, but keep this in mind. I also reserve the right to change these time limits at any time, provided that I notify you all via this thread. In addition, I reserve the right to disqualify a team at any time if they are the less active team of a match up that is stalling the rest of the competition to a significant degree.

11. As always, report all scores here on this thread, preferably with screenshot confirmation and confirmation from both teams.

With such an enormous tournament, it is absolutely essential that all teams and players communicate with opponents AND WITH ME, so that matches get done and so that I know who has been active.

As usual, often this will go judged on a case-by-case basis, but the above rule stands.

Reminder: report all scores here on this thread, preferably with screenshot confirmation and confirmation from both teams.

EDIT: MAJOR EDIT. Also, please be aware that the Lives Pool wad does work. The engine's own life counter does not display properly with pooled lives, so Lego has added in a new counter that is accurate. Remember that each team gets 5 respawns, after which every death will be permanent.

In that vein, everyone please thank Lego for making this wad. He's awesome.

That's it! No more teams will be accepted into the tournament.

With sign ups closed, expect a follow-up post giving more details and kicking off the event soon. In the meantime, the following people have things to do. This list is based off of people who have not posted in this thread at all, and whose details have not been provided. Also, this list would be longer, but there are some people who, by now, should be pretty easy to contact for most people, so to avoid being unnecessarily demanding I've omitted some.

BookofDobson: Please see that Robot Master L.S posts his sign-up details here, or do so for him. In addition, I know that Danny does not have a Cutstuff account, so please post his sign-up details for him. I will not disqualify your team if these are not done, but you will have significantly less ground to stand on in the event of scheduling issues for any matches down the road.

Knights Templar: Please post Kraven's sign-up details, or have him post them himself. I will not disqualify your team if these are not done, but you will have significantly less ground to stand on in the event of scheduling issues for any matches down the road.

Team Blossom: Still waiting on posts for Yuri Sakazaki and Cold Noodles. I will not disqualify your team if these are not done, but you will have significantly less ground to stand on in the event of scheduling issues for any matches down the road.

The GG's: Still waiting on sign-up details for Jman. I will not disqualify your team if this is not done, but you will have significantly less ground to stand on in the event of scheduling issues for any matches down the road.

Seeing as sign ups have slowed down, and there are some teams left that I know wish to join but just haven't signed up yet, I'm going to bring the sign up deadline up to Wednesday, November 12th, 12:00 AM EST (UTC-05:00).

If you have a team and are just deciding on a name, sign up anyway. Same goes if you know the team but one or two people aren't able to post at the same time as you can, please sign up anyway.

If we get all the teams I know we're waiting on, I reserve the right to begin earlier. Everyone's growing anxious to get this enormous event under way!

Please give Lego a big thanks for making this for the tournament!
Clarification on the life pool system. Ignore the Zandronum, engine life counter; it doesn't display correct information with pooled lives. Instead, Lego has a added a new counter that is accurate. Just remember, each team gets 5 respawns, after which every death will be permanent.

Last time on CUTSTUFF TOURNAMENTS...
Our last tournament saw contestants develop their individual skills, both technical and strategic, and we saw a lot of intense matches and impressive moments.

This time, though, your ability to work as a team will be put to the test. This tournament differs a good deal from the last team tournament we saw, as I think now we have the interest and drive for something bigger... This is...

The Real Super Power of Teamwork - 3v3 TLMS Tournament!!

That's right, I've decided to take a shot at 3v3 tournament. The mode of play will be TLMS, the most popular team-based game mode.

The gameplay will be vanilla stock TLMS, with one key difference. During each game, a team of three will share a pool of 5 lives. This means that teamwork will be of the utmost importance. If you can't work as a team, the enemy will pick you off at their leisure!

I really believe that we have the interest and quality of dedicated members to make this 3v3 tourney work, but I do have back up plans should we struggle to come up with enough teams. But I doubt that! I think everyone, casual or competitive, frequent player or less frequent, should have a lot of fun participating in this tourney. And I encourage everyone to come up with good team names, there will be a test.

General Rules
(click to show/hide)

And, I forgot to mention, this tournament will be double elimination!

Download the shared lives wad here! livespool-v1a.wad

TLMS is a very popular and well-liked game mode, that even casual players enjoy and can really get into. If you've stayed away from tournaments in the past, this a great opportunity to grab a couple friends and get in on some action! The shared stock and team-based nature of the tournament mean that any one can go far! But conversely, if you're a competitive player looking for a new challenge, this tournament will put your abilities to the test as you try to combine your skills with others to reach the top.

How To Sign Up

Because of the nature of the tournament, all contestants must sign up with two teammates (and every teammate must submit a form). If you want to participate but are missing one or two partners, feel free to post your info here and seek out teammate(s), but only full teams of three will be admitted into the tournament.

Here is the sign up form:

-------------------------------------------------

As always, please post with any questions or concerns or comments! And please don't be afraid to sign up if you're in the Smash Bros tournament, there's no reason you can't do both!

EDIT: Clarification: 5 lives means 5 respawns.
