Question. How exactly did you test these on a two minute trial? As in, did you fire until they died, then multiply by the appropriate factor? Or did you use cheats or something to keep the dummy alive for two minutes under a constant barrage of attacks?

Mostly looks really good. The only things I would consider changing would be to lower Flame Blast and raise Fire Storm and Shadow Blade.

I'm not quite sure what your reasoning is for putting Flame Blast on Tier 3, but to me it seems that the RoF is just slow enough to prevent use as a tool to corner your opponent (a savvy opponent, mind you), and the speed of the projectile is too slow (to me at least) to be used in any worthwhile combos. Of course, I am not nearly as good of a player as many others here, and thus their opinions will probably be more refined. I just think it does too poor of a job at what it does.

I would say Fire Storm deserves to be on Tier 3. It's outclassed by Star Crash as far as hugging goes, but when Star Crash isn't present, Fire Storm is by go-to close-range weapon. I'd say the damage output is good enough to warrant a higher placement.

Shadow Blade I see as an easier to use, yet less devastating Rolling Cutter. If you've get this weapon, some well-disciplined orbiting of the opponent and good prediction can get you extremely easy frags. Also, I've found that it is one the best weapons to have a weapon bind for, as you can be approaching an opponent with a different weapon (like Bubble Lead, as an example), then switch suddenly to this quick boomerang projectile. It launches out very fast, and if you fire in the direction you are rushing, it is even better. If you are able to make the return trajectory contact the opponent, the usefulness skyrockets again.

Otherwise, I like all of the weapon placements. And I also do not think Freeze Cracker should be any higher. As far as frags go, it doesn't get many at all.

Haven't looked at the maps yet, BUT I strongly advise against using sendspace, as it tends to contain particularly 'tricky' false download links, and I find it will often lag as it spams the mandatory pop-up, which often causes people to download the file twice, which is just annoying.. Also, wadhost is so much more convenient.

Anyways, congratulations on a release.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. That makes me happy with the first, as I didn't really want to hafta regulate everything. As for the 8 bit-ness, that makes sense. So, to keep with this, my sprites can only essentially have 2 colors plus black to be considered 8 bit? I'm not making skins but rather weapon sprites, so I feel like that may be slightly difficult with the weapons I'm making. However, I am to understand that it is not required that these sprites be 8-bit?

Hello everyone! I am beginning to try my hand at modding, but I have few questions that I feel I need answered before I start. Sorry if these seem like really simple things but I just want to be sure I am doing things right!

1)Is there a specific size that skin sprites/weapon sprites need to be before they are loaded/saved into a .wad/lump? Meaning, is there a specific size these sprites need to be in there picture files, or will skulltag scale them to the correct size/proportionally correct size automatically?

2)(WARNING: Here is my dumbest question...) What exactly makes a sprite 8 bit? I have of course looked this up online, but what I've read seems (to me at least) to contradict things I've read on these forums regarding sprites that supposedly aren't 8 bit when I think that they are. Hence, I ask this question for complete clarification.

I can't think of any other burning questions I have/question that I don't feel I can't answer on my own. If I do, I'll be sure to post 'em before this topic is brutally ignored has exhausted its current use.

Software ferrsure. OpenGL looks too bright, it messes up some textures, messes up the the chat resolution, and lags me. Also, what is this about OpenGL allowing you to look up and down? I can look freely in any direction (as in, free mouselook) with Software just fine.

Oh, and I have a Gateway NV59C laptop with the extremely high-quality Windows 7 32-bit.

Erm... maybe i wasn't clear. It's not that I am getting frags by destroying the mines. I get frags awarded to me when someone is killed by a Dive Mine that was not placed by me. Unless that is what you are talking about, then I'm just lost.

I have been getting kills from Dive Mines as other RMs. Meaning, I may be playing as Ringman, I suddenly get a kill, and the message appears that "Soandso was [whatever the word is] by King Dumb's Dive Mine". I think this may have something to do with Dive Mine spamming, as there were huge amunts of Dive Mines floating around when this happened (it has happened twice, when I was Drillman and later as Ringman).

It should be noted that I am actually awarded a frag for these messages, which leads me to assume that the person who actually laid the mines does not.
