First of all, this thread is meant to be a safe place for people to post, and despite whether you think that's a good idea or not, this purpose is being violated.
Second of all, Stonefunk, I can confirm for you that Tengu is not Kyo. Regarding that, I will take action there (ie, the server) separately if things get out of hand again.
Third of all... uh yeah, knock it off everyone.

Let's let this thread be peaceful again.

Hello, everyone!

First, I'd like you all to know that I have very high goals for v5. We have a great dev team making a great game for a great community, and I want version 5 to be the absolute best yet, in every aspect! That means we'll need help from all of you, and this thread is part of that.

You may remember this thread from the days of v4 development. Like that one, this thread is here for you to provide your feedback on existing maps in the core and tell us what you'd like to see changed! We in the dev team of course have our own ideas as to what maps need attention (and what degree of attention they need), but we'd like to hear what the community thinks as well. So this is the thread for you to bring your map-related concerns to our attention. (Meaning, such posts should go here as opposed to the v5 thread; that thread is for general questions or comments about the to-be content).

Some guidelines to follow:
-Both popular support and supported reasoning are important if you want the changes you suggest to be implemented. Posts like this or like this are good examples, but even each of those have their shortcomings (ie, I didn't use any screenshots). Also, your posts don't have to be super long to be productive. Specificity is most important.
-Both pointing out existing problems, and suggesting changes and fixes, are important.
-Feel free to comment about CTF maps as well as DM maps!
-I shouldn't have to say this, but complain about maps, not mappers, please!
-Know that I, Korby, and many others on the dev team already have a lot of ideas for fixes and changes; this thread is for popular feedback for us to consider in addition or instead!

Finally, though you are certainly free to comment about any maps, it's only fair of me to let you all know that we have already placed some maps in the queue for repairs or more, particularly maps from Mega Man 7, so do look forward to that. Maybe you'll even see a screenshot about that sometime soon...

I apologize for the stall that 2.1 has placed on this tourney, but hopefully this ends that!

Muzaru has put together a nifty wad that bypasses the issues of the health desync. You can grab it here: TheFakeFood.wad

No issues were found when a few of us tested this online. I've already added this wad to the Dojo and Arena, so please let me know immediately if you find any problems with it! There hopefully won't be any though.

Enormous thanks to Muzaru. Everyone thank Muzaru next time you see him. He's the best.

With that, we can start moving again. I want to see a lot more effort put into the losers' bracket matches; we have everything but Losers' Finals lined up as far as opponents go, so all we have to do is get those matches done!

Unfortunately, due to extended inactivity, I've had to remove Neo (Digimon Next) from the tournament, which means that Rozark advances to fight Magnet Dood.

The following are the current matches we're waiting on:

As for winners' finals, expect to see that showdown on Monday, at around 1 PM EDT.

In the meantime, some announcements.

Reminder that BE servers now run on Zandronum 2.1, so you'll need to update to play.

That being said, a health desync bug has been found in version 2.1. The short version of this is that sometimes it will look like health is healing double what it should be. That is, while your client may say you have 90 health, you may actually only have 50, for example. This doesn't actually affect gameplay directly because the server has your correct health, but of course not knowing how much health you actually have is a problem in Duel. Of course I will keep up to speed with any updates on this matter, and one way or another I will address its impact on us within a day.

Probably though we'll just have to wait and hope the desync gets addressed soon, one way or another.

Alright folks, it's now been 2 weeks since the bracket stage began, and progress has been good! As usual I'll be floating around checking in with everyone and trying to organize matches. As I do this, please remember that as I'm doing this, I'm just trying to make sure that things stay active and progressing. The most important thing I need from anyone I talk to is just clear communication of availability. Also, please try to take more initiative in contacting your opponents on your own. I'll still be addressing every single match as I can but the more effort put in by the players to make the match happen, the more convenient it will be for both combatants.

You'll have to upload the image to a site and use the image URL to make it your avatar. In User Control Panel, go to Profile then to Edit Avatar. There you'll put in the URL for the image, and you can specify the dimensions you want.

Imgur is a pretty simple place to put the image you want to use.

Alright, everyone! The time has come!

Amazingly, we completed 83 pool matches in less than two weeks! That's really impressive. Bravo everyone, and congratulations to Michael, Gizmo, Kapus, Awbby, Juicy, Mendez, EazyDI, and Fyone for finishing in first place in their pools!

Now it's time for the real deal: the double-elimination bracket!

As we begin the second stage of the tournament, there are now a few more items to be aware of:
-If you use a custom skin, please let me know via PM what custom skin you use. This is for the commentary team, so they can try and have everyone's skin when they commentate matches.
-Try to be looking out for commentary team members as you go about your matches. It may take a while for everyone to get into gear and start commentating a lot of matches, but they'll try their best! That being said, as a general rule you don't need to hold off your matches until someone can do commentary. The responsibility to find and commentate matches lies mostly with the people on that team (listed on the first post).
-Remember, bracket matches are best of 3, 10 frag duels.

Also huge shoutouts to Michael for always being an awesome friend and helping out whenever I needed him to with matches and getting people and really anything. I don't really thank you enough Michael, but you deserve it all!

No worries everyone, this was a joke (hence the Bikdark face). I can't give one person the ability to join late without allowing everyone that opportunity. Muzaru was an exceptional case for the reasons stated in that post.

By Maxine's request, I've replaced the INSPIRE Deathmatch server with INSPIRE TLMS, featuring INSPIRE-b. INSPIRE-b in turn features late entry INSPIR09 - Yoku Man by Jaxof7, and also fixes the death pit on INSPIR08.
