So, when you pick effects in the hub map, I'm guessing the chosen effects are stored in vars that can keep their' values through multiple maps right?
Is this the way it works? If so, then this will come in handy for an important future feature in a mod I've been wanting to help with in development.

Anyway, looks like many people here have suggested there be a METOOL INVASION effect.
I was thinking the same too! It would probably be a good replacement for the dead rising effect,
as the zombies don't really seem to do much and isn't there enough MM7 effects as it is?
I know that replacing an effect might not be a good idea, but still think about it.

Maps / Re: MMINV Map Project - We need YOU!
« on: September 12, 2012, 09:05:01 AM »
Even though this project did have it's flaws and problems, it really did have alot of potential!
I too would really love to see this project brought back from the dead.

I think I can see quite a few things that this project doesn't need:
It doesn't need custom weapons,
It doesn't need max wave counts higher than 15 waves or so,
It doesn't need the more "made up" enemy types,
And it doesn't need a total of 30 maps. (16-20 maps would most likely be alot better!)

Quality over quantity is key.

Remembering the S.G.C. Demo

Wow... It's hard to believe... It has been not only almost 2 years sense MM8BDM-V1A first came out...
But almost 3 years sense the MM8BDM alpha first came out!
I don't know about you guys, but to me this is somewhat a big thing...
So I feel the need to set at least SOMETHING for the 2nd anniversary of the MM8BDM full release!

I have the perfect plan, on October 8th this year, lets all play the MM8BDM SGC Demo in sever(s)!
This will be just like a time capsule event, to give the veterans a blast of nostalgia,
and to show the newcomers what the game was like waayy back in the day.
On the day, I am going to be hosting my server with it, and I guess if anyone else also wants to host, they can.

For everyone who does not have the SGC demo, here is a link to download it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?384q2cd85492h00   Thanks to Super Bondman 64 for the better link!
http://zut.doesntexist.org/wadhost_files/MM8BDM-SGC8.zip
This may not be a very good link, cause it's from the old WadHost archive which apparently has very low bandwidth,
however it's the only link that I know of so far. If anyone knows of a better link/mirror, please let me know!

Now, this day is still a good time away, about 30 days from now at the time of this writing. For the heck of it,
I decided to plan this ahead of time cause they say it's better to do that then blow it off until the last minute right?

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the up coming event.

MM8BDM Discussion / Time for me to atemt to speak my mind.

I think there should also be some tutorials that none have mentioned yet, things like:

A good guide for all/most of the Skulltag settings that MM8BDM supports, that players are going to want to change,
instructions for setting up OpenGL, which is mainly turning off all the advanced lighting settings/stuff.
Heck, maybe even something like a template Skulltag settings INI file for MM8BDM!

One thing that CutManMike should do is include a new TXT file with MM8BDM that says how to do all this stuff.
Now that there's supposedly more players than ever now, there is now a really good reason to do this.

*AHEM*
I kinda wanted to know what everyone thinks of my ideas

Anyway, I think after quite some time I realize that I actually like the level of skill that I am at for a player, for the most part anyway.
I notice that alot of these elitist skulltag players tent to basicly develop a greed with their skill. (By alot I mean NOT ALL, BUT A GOOD MAJORITY OF THEM)
What I mainly mean by that is this, it gets to a point where when they become "so skilled", they forget everyone else that's different from them,
and so when you have a case when they can take advantage of, and murder the noobs, they do just that. Little do they know that they
are creating a bad sign for the newcomers, clearly they only care about themselves and they say "Ether you fit in, or you Get The F*** Out."
Quite frankly, I for one do not want to become the same as them.

Now I know it definitely is a different story when you have nothing but elitists around. In a case like that, then I guess it's ok for the pros to unleash all their powerz
on each other. However when you have a few noobs in the game, the pros should go at least a little bit easier on the noobs and/or give them a little bit of help.
If they do not and they always just abuse the noobs whenever they can, eventually the noobs are going to get sick of being abused, and they are going to leave.
Look at what happened with the I.R.W.C. clan way back in the S.G.C. demo, and if you don't believe me, ask BlueBrawl. Is that really what you want pros?
If so, then that makes you guys self-centered, careless @$$holes. I know you guys are EVENTUALLY going to get board as a board playing with the same mods and players
over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Oh well, I know I might get replys from the elitists/pros saying things like "That is not going to happen 100%."
or "Quit UR bitching" but I don't care about them as they do not care about us.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: OH GOD WHATS GOING... WHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: August 17, 2012, 12:35:38 AM »
I guess I am grateful for all these new players now playing MM8BDM.
What we need to do is give these new players some tutorials.
We have already said things like:

Getting DoomSeeker,
Making a Skins folder,
And adding colors to names.

However, I think there should also be some tutorials that none have mentioned yet, things like:

A good guide for all/most of the Skulltag settings that MM8BDM supports, that players are going to want to change,
instructions for setting up OpenGL, which is mainly turning off all the advanced lighting settings/stuff.
Heck, maybe even something like a template Skulltag settings INI file for MM8BDM!

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: PUT YOUR WADS ON WADSEEKER... SERIOUSLY.
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:53:14 AM »
Dusty and Ice-IX sure does speak for us all. The least server hosts could do is put the MAIN custom wad in the server download URL.
From now on, expect me to do this from on when I host my server(s). I know that something like a private testing server is a different story,
cause It makes more sense for the server host(s) to not put the download URL on the server. However if you are hosting a server
that is meant to be OPEN FOR EVERYONE, and it has a main extra wad, then you really should put that wad's download URL on the server
for everyone to actually see.

By the way, here's a hint: Try removing the "http://www." tag from the URL, the shorter the URL, the more easy it is for downloaders.

Don't worry BlueBrawl, I just wanted to say, there is at least one more guy in CutStuff than you think who knows how to correctly compress music files.
You're looking right at him. Even though I've never made an OGG file, I know quite well how to make an MP3 file.

I hope to show this very soon if I can manage to get my secret project off the ground...   ;)

By the way, sorry if I've now gotten off-topic too much...

It should totally be Megaman warping off into the sky, like he does in almost every game.

I also had the same idea for a replacement for the "player exit" red particle effect!
Please CutManMike, if this really can be done, show to us you like our little ideas!   :)

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: The Guide to Bot Apocalypse
« on: June 02, 2012, 06:27:23 AM »
Mess' version of the Bot Apoc WAD is what I've always considered to be the way too easy version.
Though his version can get quite tricky at times, for the most part is too easy.
There are not enough bots that enter the game, and all players start with a RIDICULOUS amount of Wtanks.
I cannot recall a single time playing his version where I used most of my Wtanks.

Now back to the good ol' days of MM8BDM-V1 when SaviorSword used to host manual Bot Apoc, those were the good times.
Those were the days when Bot Apoc was the game that it was supposed to be.
There were always ALOT of bots in the game (normally 16-20) hence the game name Bot APOCALYPSE,
Bot leaders could CHOOSE the bot(s) they want in their army, the bot leaders were NOT OVER POWERED with extra health,
The Big amount of bots pretty much WAS the bot leader's extra health, And players always got to TAKE TURNS to be the bot leader.
So far, I have never EVER been able to get chosen as the bot leader when there's a whole bunch of players in the server in mess' version B.T.W.

Though I will admit Manual Bot Apoc did have it's flaws,
Players would often get raped by bots on the start of a new round, though players did have ether Skull Barrier or Leaf Shield or Plant Barrier more often,
All Bots would use the same weapon and never ever change weapons unless maybe if a bot picks up a different weapon,
And all players had no assist items.

So basically Classic/Manual Bot Apoc is what I consider the version where there is ALOT more strategy, skill, and stealth involved.
But this is a good guide anyway.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM Launcher Banner archive
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:16:15 AM »
I have saved all of the banners going back to V1C.
I remember before V1C there were 3 other banners that went like:

"Tweet to the masses! Help spread the word about MM8BDM!"

"CutManMikes weakness is bandwidth beam!"

"MM8BDM Roboenza mode released!"

If someone actually saved all 3 of these it would bring back quite some memories... :)

Thanks for posting this TrollMan! However I think I have found that the code for the met daddy boss fight does not work.
I tried typing in secret_metdadunlock and that seems to work. You should check to see if i'm right on this!

Skins & Bots etc / Re: Dr. Robotnik's Creations (Pingas Soundpack Released)
« on: September 22, 2011, 04:52:38 AM »
Here are my ideas for the Pingas Soundtrack!

And finally for some extra...

Also, I think the 4th song should be called something like "Pingas town - You Are A Pingas!"
maybe not just "Pingas song".

I also wanted to say I know how to re-record the songs, so that they are the same sound quality, and a much lower file size.
Let me know if you want me to help you with this!

Hey guys, I think I have found that 2 of the skin's links are not right or something.
These skins are Bender, and Agent J.
Can someone tell me what is with their links or try to fix them?

Yes I did look at the dates this time. I.D.K, I thought that this wasn't too old of a topic, only under 2 months? Is that really too old here?
