Mega Man Discussion / Re: Fanmade robot masters
« on: July 12, 2012, 10:06:43 PM »
More anthropomorphic faggotry from me.

Alpha Man
Weapon: Wolf Claw
A robot designed with a wolf motif to work with Buck Man, using his claws for extra grip, he is a very versatile robot master.
'Howl do you do?'
Good Point: Hard working
Bad Point: Fast-paced
Likes: Treble
Dislikes: Hunters

Basically went with the same design format as Buck Man for this one, nothing special.
Though Alpha Man is one of the only sprites that only utilizes 4 colours/ one single NES sprite layer.

I'm really liking the look of Pole and Virtual Man! They have some pretty nice potential in my opinion.
They could use some development as they look a bit too simplistic as of yet, but for the time being it's nice that the foundations look good, a hard thing to achieve when designing robot masters.

And now some new stuff from me since a millennium ago (All put into spoilers because there's so much)
First up, Jungle Man Warning: Large images:
(click to show/hide)
I was tasked by deviantART user FakemonFactory to design a jungle-themed robot master, I drafted some ideas together and this is what was the final product, and yes, I know the sprite palette looks like ass, I've been meaning to fix it for quite some time now.

Next up, a robot master in my fangame roster, Zephyr Woman Warning: More large images:
(click to show/hide)
Both the design and pose are tentative and subject to change in so many ways, for obvious reason too.
Next is a trio of random robot masters that I will not probably use ever.
Locate Man is first, whom of which was the result of an attempt to design a moreso robotic, cyclops robot master:
(click to show/hide)
Next is Smog Man, based off a Chiminea:
(click to show/hide)
I rather like this guy, but he's just a 'Find-a-real-life-object-and-slap-arms-legs-and-a-face-on-it' type of robot master which kills all semblance of originality.
Lastly is Gravure Man, who was a terrible idea at the time and still is:
(click to show/hide)
Like Smog Man, I just slapped eyes, arms and legs on a gravure roll and called it a day. I'm so original.

To Finish everything up, a redesign of Flask Man, now with 37% less Chill Man faggotry:
(click to show/hide)
Everything looks okay bar the proportions of the utility belt flasks.

Knowing the 8FC Development Team, they'd most likely use the original Cut Man and Wood Man sprites, despite of how terrible they would look in comparison to the rest of the graphics, except Aqua Man bahahahahaha (olawd opinions).

Though I did create an 8-Bit iteration of the 32-Bit variation of Wood Man and Cut Man, the Cut Man sheet will be put together at a later date.

Nothing specifically new from me this time.
Just another 'redesign'
(click to show/hide)
Whilst the design still retains the original look, I've added a few new things, like her scarf, her overlly exaggerated hair, ice skates on the bottoms of her boots and her knee-pad-things.

New stuff from me.

Buck Man
Weapon: Buck Shot
Buck Man works in forests, collecting apples and breaking down dead trees with his supreme body and leg strengh
Good Point: Strong
Bad Point: Brash
Likes: Karate
Dislikes: Limits

He's reasonably tall, as tall as Concrete Man; which in my mind is kind of acceptable. If I were to come up with attacks for him, I'd say he would attack by punching, kicking, sliding and by using a spread-shot buster.
And two newly drawn traced Collide Man designs;
Design one
(click to show/hide)
Design two
(click to show/hide)
Both designs utilise a 'Galaxy Man' cross 'Astro Man' feel, the second design features a monitor to show power levels and voltage and eyes that are similar to the typography used on very old calculators.

Quote
This Egyptian-themed Robot Master is colored red and gray. His weapon is a useless weapon that's made of lightning and his stage is full of areas with infinitely-spawning enemies and Rush Jet segments.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Egyptian Man
Weapon: Prism Bolt
A robot built to guard ancient pyramids, using the Prism Bolt, Egyptian Man scares of tresspassers
Good point: Silly personality
Bad point: Lazy
Likes: Lightning
Dislikes: Rain

Skins & Bots etc / Re: Official Request Thread
« on: December 05, 2011, 11:15:59 PM »
So ever since I quit DeviantART I've needed something to do, so I drafted up a Mega Man Class. It's just simply Mega Man riding a bicycle. Could someone whip up a skin of Mega Man riding a bicycle to go with the HUD I whipped up;
(click to show/hide)
Also, anyone got any critique/suggestions about the HUD? It's 100% custom made so I'm just wondering if it fits in with the rest of MM8BDM.

I find sprite edits to be a very basic and easy way as a beginning to spriting. As you continue you should try and make the edits less evident, going as far as to make it look like an original sprite. As you go on through your spriting 'career' you'll begin to depend less on editing and recolouring in favour of original work.

Now for a short bit of De-ja Vu;
Finally got Ryukihei Man's body designed and drawn:
(click to show/hide)
Ryukihei Man
Weapon: Blazing Spear
A defence robot built to guard a derelict castle. His intimidating dragon motif scares off intruders.
By thy scales on thy tail, thou shalt not prevail!
Good Point: Intimidation
Bad Point: Constant worker
Like: Diamonds
Dislike: Knights

(His like for Diamonds is due to the rumour surrounding Dragons and other winged lizards that they are mesmerized by shiny objects, and diamonds are particularly shiny)
(His dislike of Knights is a reference to the old folkore tale in which a powerful knight slayed a dragon.)
(Ryukihei Man's quote is a reference to the writing style used in many of Shakespeare's written works.)
I messed up on a few parts, so some aspects of his design are tentative and subject to possible changes.

Does anyone have some Tenguman 8-bit sprites? I kinda need them to replace Cloudman.
Here's my contribution to something totally unrelated to me.

Here you've got both versions of the RM8FC Tengu Man. A version of Tengu Man made by SovietCommando and 3 singular sprites of Tengu Man made by me.

More stuff for unoriginal Mr.Wolf.
Timber Man

I used parts from Mega Man, Ice Man, Spark Man, Ballade, Strike Man, Shake Man, Auger Man, Forest Man, Proto Man, Plug Man, Concrete Man, Magma Man and Splash Woman.
See if you can spot the reused parts!
And some more sketches of ?????? Man, bearing an unintentional and somewhat uncanny resemblance to Time Tangents Gale Man, even though Gale Man has been yet to be drawn.
(click to show/hide)
This sheet features;
- Leg/Foot Sketches
- Arm/Hand Sketches
- Emblem/Logo Sketches
- Torso Sketches
- A Turbine Sketch
- A Head Sketch.
Enjoy.

I'm seeing Plugman, Burnerman, and Dynamoman on Collideman...
I had Plug Man and Dynamo Man in mind when drawing up Collide Man's design. Their design elements seemed to fit quite nicely together.
Not sure where you go Burner Man from though...

Try and guess his name!
Several things have feathers on them
Thing at top-right has "Tomahawk" headdress (more feathers)
    Close-up of a fist
    Helmet with glasses/visor built-in

FALCON MAN.

Weapon Get! ~ Falcon Punch
You've got a good train of thought, though your train stopped at the wrong station!
You're closer with the name beginning with F.

Aura - I see a Buster Rod inspiration and I know the name, but I found out the cheap way so I won't say.
Oh yeah! I'm seeing Buster Rod too! Nice find!

You really shouldn't put the name of the master in your filenames.
The whole idea is that you wouldn't look at the filename, but instead just try and guess the name.

Quote from: "Korby"
Also, no, it's not a reference to Kingdom Hearts.
It's a reference to Final Fantasy.
Technically two references, actually.
Being an avid fan of the Final Fantasy series; I can't believe I walked straight past that.

Quote from: "Korby"
Collide Man looks nice, but I think you're putting too much detail onto his shoulders, but that's just my opinion. That, and three sprite layers is a lot.
Using 3 layers on sprites in Mega Man games isn't such a big deal.
3 layers have been used as early as Mega Man 2!
-Wood Man
-Needle Man
-Bright Man
-Dive Man
-Drill Man
-Dust Man
-Pharaoh Man
-Skull Man
-Toad Man
-Crystal Man
-Gravity Man
-Gyro Man
-Napalm Man
-Stone Man
-Centaur Man
All use 3 layers, hell, 85% of Mega Man 4's line-up use 3 layers!
Anyways. Enough with the tl;dr post, I've got some artwork to show.
You all remember Flask Man, right? Y'know; Totally-not-a-ripoff-of-Chemic-Man-and-Oil-Man Man?
Well last night I finally sketched up a full body artwork of him in a rough, Inafune style!
Flask Man

Anyways.
Collide Man

Weapon: Collider Charge
A robot created to help workmen restore power during power outages
'When robots collide.'
Good Point: Effective worker
Bad Point: Shocking attitude
Like: Sheep Man
Dislike: Rubber Bands

(His dislike for Rubber Bands is because rubber is resistant to electricity)
(His quote is a electric-related pun)
And some biro concept sketches of a super secret special awesome super character.
