I spend almost the same with the skin of Sonic, since I started making skins, I just wanted to do was make a remake of sonic skin (which I think I did Megaman) I did it myself, using sprites, joining them ,doing things mutants, and after much work the skin , look better than I expected, if you make a good skin of Mr.Driller, you will need more than a sheet of sprites. you should look for a base, searching all the pages, and so on. Making a skin is not easy I tell you about everything in hand, you yourself must make the sprites. see my first skin of Mario Bros, I'm so good but the first, then with practice you will fit better.
Only I wish you good luck and hopefully soon you can make your own skin reamake.

but it is assumed that a skin of a human must have rotations, the sprites you use they support, but the other rotations you make them yourself.
not because the game look like that. should only be those rotations.
