MegaLAD just admitted to having trolled in the past (and enjoying it, mind you), and he's shown that to solve the problem, people need to change. To be perfectly honest, MegaLAD used to annoy the hell out of me. I'm sure he bothered you all, too. He caught on to needing to change, and he did so. Nobody likes making enemies (unless of course, you are a troll), and it's that much easier to avoid if those who are trolling stop what they're doing. If you're bored, go get a damn job. You don't need to ruin people's fun for your own entertainment. MegaLAD quit while he was ahead. Some others, however, refuse to accept what they're doing is wrong and try to hold on to that little bit of pride they have left. So, what happens in that event? They become enveloped in their activities, and end up making themselves public enemy number 1. That isn't fun for anyone. To be more specific, take myself for example. I used to troll the hell out of Daniel. I am fully guilty of that (although, some of it, Daniel deserved). Then, I took a moment of self-reflection. I realized I was being an ass to someone who didn't even speak english. So what did I do? I stopped while I was ahead. This, however, turned several of my old buddies against me. I didn't care, though, because I wasn't ruining anyone's fun time by being an ass. So what became of my old buddies? They were labeled trolls because they continued pestering Daniel. I'm not saying I like Daniel, because he still annoys the living hell out of me. I'm saying if he bothers you, use the damn ignore function.Everyone troll's Daniel. Boo Hoo.
We all know what the problem is; ourselves. However, what we need to ask ourselves is "What are we going to do to end it?", so I want everyone to think about whether or not they troll someone. Do they legitimately deserve it? Do you enjoy it? Chances are, if one is true, the other isn't. If you are trolling someone and you know they don't deserve it, you need to stop. If you don't, it's going to be very difficult to get yourself into a server to troll someone.
To all hosts: Make sure any moderator of your server is trustworthy and will not abuse it.

Actually yeah I remember I was in your server the day bik got banned because he kept telling you that your server sucked and calling you a fag and to go ahead and ban. So he couldn't have been there yesterday.

You're a huge part of the problem, whether you realize it or not.

I also find it ironic that you're trying to protect Pikmin from false accusations while trolling using Gumballtoid's name.

I've seen many members pointing fingers at reasons for "the community dying", but honestly, the biggest reason is the community itself. As much as you can try to justify good nature "trolling" and "bad trolls". There is a problem acting that way at all. I'm not just referring to hurt feelings that can cause members to leave, I'm referring to newcomers. It's obvious we have lurkers on the forums, guests wondering if they should join the forums. We have players who join servers to try out the game. Do you honestly think most of them are going to join the community if they are being exposed to hostility, trolling, harassing?
Just remember, there is a difference between a good joke and being a jerk. Even if you think it's harmless fun, first impressions are everything. If you act that way on the server, what becomes of the MM8BDM Community? What does that potential newcomer see and say to his/her friends? "Eh, it looked good, but the community are all a bunch of jerks and trolls"
Eh, I've always had a policy of kicking trolls and other jackasses from my server. Shmeckie's Classes server is a place for fun and good times. Mainly because it exists solely so I can play the version of MM8BDM I like to play during my breaks and time off, and after a hard day's work, the last thing I feel like tolerating is some bored kid trying to get a rise out of people. Bik's permabanned from my server (quite literally asking for it), and anyone who has nothing better to do but impersonate people and grief on everyone isn't welcome, either. That's my policy and I'm sticking to it.
