Sorry for the bump (and the double post!) but does anyone have the original Cutman and Woodman sprites that were going to be used in RM8FC?
I would like to see them.

Cut Man

Wood Man

:)
Uh, these are from MEGAMAN 8 (or ROCKMAN 8), not ROCKMAN 8 FC.
I would like the Cutman and Woodman sprites that originally were on the RM8FC website.

Oh, oops, sorry.  Did they have Cut Man and Wood Man planned?  I thought they were planning Time Man and Oil Man.

I don't think there are any codes that get you to specific Wily stages.  In the NES games, the passwords only ever took you as far as the beginning of the Wily stages (or in many cases, the beginning of the first castle, like Cossack, Proto Man, and Mr. X).  I assume that's how RM8FC works, too.

Does anyone know if the graphics for Rockman 7/8 FC are public domain?

*upgrades from 3.10 to the latest one*

Nope, still the same. The Config_GUI (dr. light icon) is just a box filled with white

That's weird.  Config_GUI loads up a window with options in it for me, including a whole bunch of screen size options, from 256x224 all the way up to 1280x1120, and what looks like a full screen option.

I don't know what else to tell you.  Sorry. :(

Nope, nothing. There's something that swaps z and x but I don't need that.

Do you have the latest version?  3.12b is the most recent one released right now.

I think the thing that's been stopping me from playing RM8FC is the lack of screen size. Isn't there any way at all to make the window bigger like RM7FC?

There should be a config.exe or something like that.  I play it at 2x, and I think it can go up to 4x (and maybe even full screen?).

RM8FC is generally fun, but I've never actually been a big fan of MM8 anyway.  I find it's just too gimmicky.  It seems like there are very few normal stages.  I hate playing Frost Man's stage because I don't like the snowboard part (which comprises pretty much the entire level), and I have yet to finish Wily 1 because of the snowboard.  I also agree regarding Search Man.  He is pretty ridiculous in this version.

The one from their site does look better, but they likely changed it for a reason.  It looks like it doesn't match NES specs like the current one does.

For those making Roll mods, I figured I'd let you know I recently ripped the sprites from the mobile Rockman game from Japan. :) I submitted them to Sprites, Inc.

Here they are.

I also made custom sliding and dashing sprites. :)

Note that these will all need recoloring for RM7FC usage.

I'll have to go with Search Man, at least on RM8FC.  I haven't played enough of the PSX version to know whether or not the battle is any better, but of all the bosses in the game, he gives me the most trouble by far.  There just seems to be way too much going on throughout the battle, and then given how difficult he is, the weapon you receive from him is pretty bad.  It's basically just a Dive Missile clone, and it seems to be just as weak (if not weaker).  On top of that, the boss who is weak against Homing Sniper (Astro Man) is easy enough with the buster.  I guess Search Man's design is interesting, but other than that, I really don't like him.

3.12b has been out for a little bit.  Once again, I don't know all the changes since 3.11b, but I just played through all eight bosses for the first time since around 2.90, and the game has definitely changed a fair bit.  Sword Man's stage is very different now, and the Search Man fight is quite a bit different now, as well.  I have noticed that some color changes have gone on with weapons and such, but they haven't lined everything up, yet.  For example, Water Balloon is now a light blue for Mega Man, but the icon and bolts and weapon energy pellets are still purple and green.  I also noticed in Sword Man's stage a large weapon energy pellet in a location that can't seem to be reached.  I assume these things will be fixed in a future release.

3.11b is out now.  I'm not sure what the differences are, but it's out. :)

How does it defeat the purpose of their game? The game is still there, they still made it, and many people will still play what they do without touching it. People mod stuff all the time. It's creative, and in no way detracts from the work these guys put into it. And nobody takes away credit from the original demakes either, at least none of the mods of 7FC that I've seen do that. I highly doubt the makers of Minecraft care if people do graphics mods of their game, and that's an original creation. These guys are demaking a game made by Capcom. It's like someone draws a mustache on a photo, and then get mad when someone else adds a beard. Sounds pretty silly to me.
I'm suggesting that, in a sense, it cheapens their original effort.  If someone were to legitimately make a piece of art, even if it's based on another piece of art (such as your mustache and beard example), it is still their work of art, and some people just don't like to see their work altered.  The makers of Minecraft might actually care.  Modding is frowned upon by various companies.  I know Blizzard reserves the right to ban people who use mods in WoW.  If the RM8FC team doesn't want their material modded, that's entirely their call.  It may be based (heavily) on Capcom's product, but this is still their creative work, and it's their right to "protect" it if they want.

Damn it all. It's like they don't want us to be creative with their work or something. Do you think they spy on forums like this and purposely change what they use to screw our plans over?
Perhaps they aren't so much limiting our creativity as protecting their own.  They put all the time and effort into making these 8-bit style "demakes," and then a bunch of people go and modify all the graphical work they did and defeat the purpose of their game by making it something completely different.

Am I the only one that thinks most of the RM sprites look....bad?
I think they look pretty good.  The idea is probably to make them look like they may have looked on the NES, rather than trying to make them perfectly match their PSX counterparts.
