Touhou is admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine. I pretty much mirror most of the sentiments in this thread: fun games, fun characters, fun comics, good music....all counterbalanced by a horrible fanbase.

I haven't played too many of the games admittedly but Subterranean Animism and Undefined Fantastic Object are pretty fun. I especially love how bizarre and fun all the bosses in the latter one are, particularly Ichirin and Unzan.

He's the best character in the series. Don't even try to deny it.

NES Godzilla Creepypasta, featuring superb spritework, atmospheric levels, and a demonic red tiki spider that wants to eat your soul. Made by someone on another forum I frequent! Though most video game creepypastas are sort of shit, this one takes a more subtle and interesting approach, especially with the "screencaps".

I wish I could enjoy any Megaman X games ever.

They're just too ball-bustingly hard for me to ever enjoy. Which is a shame, because I like robot animals. But seriously, having to refill your energy tanks whenever you use them and starting with a piddly-ass lifebar that is half the size of the boss's is pretty shit.

Also I finally managed to beat Megaman 2 on both normal and difficult modes a while back....it was sort of underwhelming for the supposed "best game in the series".

I think he'd be a LOT like Hardman without the floaty limbs.

Am I the only one who thinks that?

Can't deny he looks like Hard Man. I wanted him to be big and beefy, so he could look like a "crushy" robot, and I guess that's how he just came out.  :?

Though since there's so many robots now, it's sort of hard to make a robot that doesn't at least look a little like another robot. And he'd fight differently at least, so....

Wow, awesome RM, only a question, was his design based on Tornado Tonion? Press Man's arms and body reminds me of him.

Thanks! Though I actually didn't have Tornado Tonion in mind. I was mainly just having trouble figuring out a good-looking way to attach his arms to his body, so I just decided to go with floaty limbs since it looked better/more interesting.

Thought it might be a fun challenge to try and make my own robot master/try to fit Megaman's design style, so I gave it a shot. Here's my idea:

A robot who works in a junk yard crushing cars and other large trash between the two parts of his body. His torso and arms float freely of his body, allowing him to hurl his crusher-like torso at Megaman to try and crush him, and also smashes up junk to send shrapnel flying. He has a rather violent personality.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of weapon he'd give out, though....maybe a large press that flies in a short arc like the Flame Blast and creates a small shockwave when it lands, or something.

Wow, you're really talented! I love the coloring and stuff, it really makes your art look lush and cartoonish and rad.

Something I just realized while playing MM4: if you shoot some enemies with the dust crusher, they not only get hit with the main projectile, but also the small fragments it breaks into, allowing for multiple hits. This can kill some enemies instantly, like the mummies in Pharaoh Man's stage.

Maplestory.

I know it's repetitive, and honestly not that great a game, but I actually do legitimately like Maplestory. It's improved a hell of a lot over the years, I love the monster sprites, and it makes for a good game to play when you just want to relax. I don't play it every day, but I do play it semi-regularly. The increased number of bosses and stuff is appreciated too.

Haven't played through any of the games successfully but I do quite like what they did with Magnet Man. Before he was an unremarkable robot with a magnet strapped to his head, but now he's a huge, hulking dude with a magnet FOR a head AND a torso! They really did a lot more with his concept design-wise, and I think he's significantly better than the original.

Both of the final bosses from the Banjo-Kazooie N64 games. Holy crap, they did NOT hold back with them. But man, was it ever satisfying when you finally prevailed after god knows how many tries. Personally I think they're some of the finest final battles in video game-dom.

Lately I've been trying to make a team that might actually stand up decently against the teams on random wifi. Most of them seem to be pretty standard high-tier stuff. I generally don't like the most competitively viable mons though, so I've been trying to work something out with the ones I like.

So far I've got:
Tokagero the Scrafty (Drain Punch, Crunch, Protect, Bulk Up)
Kaizer the Charizard (Flamethrower, Air Slash, Roar, Will-o-Wisp)
Clig the Galvantula (Thunder, Volt Switch, Thunder Wave, Bug Buzz)
Globert the Gastrodon (Waterfall, Earthquake, Curse, Recover)
Caboose the Mamoswine (Icicle Crash, Earthquake, Ice Shard, Substitute)
Reaverbot the Metagross (Iron Head, Psychic, Bullet Punch, Light Screen)

Any thoughts? I've mostly done battle subway and it's worked well enough, but I've also managed to win a few battles with them on wifi too (before it was just a constant losing streak). I could still use a decent counter to Chandelure though; that thing ruins me every time it appears, and since it can pack energy ball it can kill Globert pretty easily. He fares pretty well against other things though, and I like him, so I'm not especially eager to replace him.

Fox and Captain Falcon never left their vehicles in their series before Smash Brothers, yet they still came up with movesets for them and put them in. Not to mention Pac Man has had platformer games before where he did things other than eat faces, so it's not like coming up with a moveset for him would be impossible.

I'm not exactly rooting for them, but them being part of the game isn't totally implausible.

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Robot masters = Easy or Hard?
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:42:08 AM »
This could be fun. Right, then, let's see...from the ones I've played....

Easiest

MM1: Bomb Man. Piss weak, simply put. You'd think a robot master specializing in explosives would be a bit nastier than the robotic Eskimo, but really, all you have to do to dodge his bombs is jump, and he throws them in a slow rhythm.

MM2: Metal Man. Haven't played much of MM2, but from my experiences with MM2 and MM3, Metal Man is the only one I was able to do well at with only the buster. Just jumps and tosses Metal Blades at you. Also dies in one hit from his own weapon; the hell is with that?

MM3: Top Man. Don't think this one needs elaboration.

MM4: Toad Man. Again, elaboration not needed.

MM5: Pretty much all of them are easy, IMO. Except one......

MM6: Knight Man. Only has one simple, easily-avoided attack, even though his shield blocks your shots. Plant Man could be here, but he at least has the benefit of having a nasty stage to make getting to him harder.

MM7: Cloud Man. Not SUPER easy like Toad Man or Top Man, but his pattern is pretty easy to get a handle on and not too hard to dodge. Run against the wind, jump when he shoots a thunder bolt at you, and slide when he floats at you. A pretty good warmup boss.

Hardest

MM1: Fire Man. Yes, his AI is exploitable, but I am TERRIBLE at doing so, and if you shoot him at the wrong moment, he'll go into berserker mode and spam enormous streams of fire that are basically impossible to dodge. Still, at least he doesn't kill you in three hits.

MM2: Quick Man should go eat a cock and die. I hate everything about this guy. I haven't beaten MM2 yet because his stage pisses me off beyond belief, and even if you get to him, he himself is REALLY NASTY (again, from my experiences with Doc Robot). I have no idea how to dodge his attacks, at all.

MM3: Gemini Man. I simply have no idea how you're supposed to buster-only this guy.  I can't buster kill about half of the bosses in this one, admittedly, but I can at least see how it can be done. Gemini Man has me clueless. Hell, even with Search Snake he can mess you up pretty bad if you're not careful.

MM4: Ring Man. His attacks aren't TOO hard to dodge when you see them coming, but he's really freaking fast, so you need good reflexes to deal with them.

MM5: Crystal Man is the one boss in this game I have trouble buster killing. Crystal Eye's ricocheting shots are fast and bounce around for a long time, and since Crystal Man himself is jumping after you and shooting at you, it's even harder to dodge them.

MM6: Centaur Man can be pretty nasty. You can avoid his freezing attack if you stay in the center, yeah, but then he'll just teleport into you or charge you or otherwise complicate dodging his freezing attack.

MM7: Freeze Man, like Gemini Man, is another boss I simply have no idea how to buster-only. His attacks are relentless, hard to avoid, come at a fast pace, and almost every single one of them can freeze you in place. He also has probably my least favorite design of the MM7 robots.
