No problem. And yeah, it was discussed back in page 12 of this thread, I believe. Granted, v3.00b is still a nearly complete game, and definitely still doable to mod and play, it just sucks that they changed the source files so we can't do anything with later versions.

Not as far as I can tell. I've searched for months for some software that could do it, and none have ever popped up. Unless someone devises a way to do so, I don't see us being able to customize the graphics of the game at all past the version I stated in my last post.

I'm gonna take a chance and bump this for a reason.

In the latest update, there's a file, 'image.bin'.
I KNOW all the graphics are there, but I don't know how to access them.

Does anyone know how I'd get at them?
Resource Hacker, I think.
Resource Hacker can't access the bin files, that's why Resource Hacker was no longer usable to gain access to the sprites after v3.00b

Show just for shits and giggles, I decided to see if my trusty Resource Hacker program can access the file and give me access to view and change the image data. It can. Mwahaha, time for a custom remake.

For those who don't know, I mentioned this program here as a resource for hacking and remaking Rockman 8 FC: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1561&p=115536#p115536

Edit: I jumped the gun, there's no direct image data as I was hoping there'd be. Just hex code. Blast.

I think I'm going to make a video tutorial on how to do your own music. The problem lies on where to put it, since youtube would remove it for copyright no doubt.

There's gotta be a way to unpack the bin file.

Good start! The Roll sliding sprites might need some work though. I really want to play a Roll mod. If only I could play that one that Lego made....

I have a slight problem with my mod. I really want to replace Protoman with Boilman, but there's a slight problem I have concerning size limits.

Only suggestion I can make is to put the back arm over the body, like maybe holding his weapon arm, and then move all the sprites over as far left as you can. Can't really offer any suggestions on the cut off above the sprite, though. I think you may just have to lose the epic flames.

Optimizing file size sounds like a much better reason. I'll take that.

Yay multicolored E-Tanks!

I wasn't so much complaining as making an observation. This is the second time now that they've changed how their program pulls data for the graphics portion of the game. It just seems like a lot of trouble to completely change how a game handles it's sources for no other reason than to keep people from messing with your work. I can work with what they've put out anyway, since the game is pretty much complete anyway and they're just doing slight changes. I just think it's silly for them to go through the trouble. I used to get annoyed when people would take my sprite work and change it without giving credit, but it was more to do with not getting credit for the original piece, I didn't care that people changed it. But I got over that after awhile, too, as I realized that when you put something out on the internet for people to use without asking for anything in return, stuff like that's going to happen.

All I can say at this point is that I can guarantee that if people wish to continue modding the game graphics, then someone will find a way to continue editing the sprites with what they've done now.

Damn it all. It's like they don't want us to be creative with their work or something. Do you think they spy on forums like this and purposely change what they use to screw our plans over?
Perhaps they aren't so much limiting our creativity as protecting their own.  They put all the time and effort into making these 8-bit style "demakes," and then a bunch of people go and modify all the graphical work they did and defeat the purpose of their game by making it something completely different.

How does it defeat the purpose of their game? The game is still there, they still made it, and many people will still play what they do without touching it. People mod stuff all the time. It's creative, and in no way detracts from the work these guys put into it. And nobody takes away credit from the original demakes either, at least none of the mods of 7FC that I've seen do that. I highly doubt the makers of Minecraft care if people do graphics mods of their game, and that's an original creation. These guys are demaking a game made by Capcom. It's like someone draws a mustache on a photo, and then get mad when someone else adds a beard. Sounds pretty silly to me.

Look at Jewel Man's "junk block" attack

Also, so far so good on the mod, KC. Only thing I would change is Tenguman's attacks, maybe make the stone beam replacement into his Tengu Blade and make the Crush Noise into a whirlwind

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh when Chill Man would do the icicle crash attack. His face is just... lol sorry. Anyway, nice looking mod so far.

Best thing for you to do is get the absolute original image file and to copy and paste the new one over it. Don't touch any of the settings after that and save it as is. Post that file up and we'll see where to go from there
