is progress, even if it's small. This is literally the first time something like this was done on a major kids show and it was done spectacularly. The creators didn't do this for any political propoganda reasons and especially not for fap material. They did it because they realized relationships like this are possible and that it was 2014 so they felt it was about time to take things up a notch.
Korra and Asami's feeling for each other have been hinted the previous two seasons and Bryke admitted that himself.
