Mega Man Discussion / Favorite Generic Stage Enemies

an aspect of mega man that i have a tremendous love for is the minor enemy design! post your favorites!

some of mine are:
flea - it looks silly, and the fact that it's apparently designed to chase away pests from crops is kind of amusing to me
battonton - they're cute
nombrellan - i probably shouldn't like it as much as i do but it's great and also useless
adamski - the best alien invaders

completely forgot about charge man's stage -- in the nes version alone, there are two transitions like that

ha ha! awesome, thanks!

in replaying mega man v, i just realized that neptune's stage is i think the only one in the whole classic series with a screen transition that isn't just two screens shifting -- the one in which you're going from the outer portion of... whatever marine space vessel neptune lives in to the interior!

thanks! i have a whole four reasons for doing pit instead of yoshi, as follows:
1 - i think pit has more interesting possibilities for a stage and weapon compared to yoshi, especially when mario is in the same group
2 - pit and mega man have a somewhat shared history, at least in that they were both in captain n together -- i thought it'd be funny for the sake of that
3 - pit was shown in the first trailer of smash wii u along with the other seven, instead of yoshi -- i interpret him now as one of the big guys even though he probably shouldn't be
4 - in the case that i do end up making this fangame a reality, i plan on putting yoshi in as a special stage boss -- the weapon concept i came up with for him is too much fun to discard anyhow!

i love her design! that's a neat way of creating a whip-based robot master!

here are the fruits of an idea that has been bouncing around in my head since the release of super smash bros. 4, uh:
(click to show/hide)

maybe i'll even do something with them eventually!

currently it's the sprites of an unused enemy from dive man's stage that i thought looked cute

a very silly idea that randomly came to mind: super mario 64 expansion!

it could include the fifteen main stages -- probably not faithful recreations considering that a platformer's level design obviously doesn't work very well in a deathmatch environment; though with my limited knowledge of the subject i feel like a couple of the stages could fare well untouched. i'm thinking it could be based around team deathmatch battles with the larger bosses and some of their mooks vs. you and perhaps yoshi, mario, luigi, and wario as time goes on? if there were to be a campaign, bowser in the sky would obviously be the final boss.

super impressed with how far this has come! i may give pulse man's skin a shot if that's alright.

EDIT: quickly whipped up some rotations for him

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Least Favorite Robot Master from Each Game
« on: September 04, 2016, 12:29:56 AM »
sure why not

MM1: counting powered up's additions, oil man is my least favorite from 1. if not, then probably guts man; his stage isn't particularly interesting, nor is his design, and his weapon is absolute trash
MM2: i dislike metal man, air man, and wood man a ton each, but my vote probably goes to metal man since his stage is the most tedious in my opinion. i'm very impatient so i always beat flash man before him so i can use time stopper in the beginning of the stage!
MM3: needle man for being a horrible pain to fight
MM4: drill man, i guess? i like him but he's a jerk in battle
MM5: i guess stone man, since he's relatively lame
MM6: yamato man is the least memorable so him
MM7: cloud man, even though i like him a lot
MM8: search man -- he's the only robot master of the games i've played that i've never beaten without his weakness.
MMB: ground man, i guess
MM9: concrete man for being boring, though i stand by that 9's robot master lineup is probably my favorite
MMX: it's probably commando man. his stage was the worst
MMV: mars for being a pain to fight

patterns!

well, uh... i'll just have to set my standards really low for this and maybe something impressive will come out of it.

4 and 7 had the best endings in my opinion. 6 had neat credits as well with the bosses flailing about
