Thanks! That's worked! But....now I have another problem. One that sometimes happened before.

None of my buttons are working. Why? Apart from Q, which exists the game >_<

It does that to me too.  Try going through the config file and choose "n" instead of "y" for the v-sync.

Alright, what the heck!  I try to use Joy2Key with this game, I assign the buttons correctly, but when I play the game the buttons suddenly screw up!  Plus the game has considerable slow down when you choose a bigger screen.  I certainly hope they fix this next update.

Ah wait!  I simply downloaded the 2.91 beta version (the only one that HAS an image file!) and it works good with Joy2Key!  Though there's still that slowdown when you increase the screen size, but I'm not really worried about that.

Will play through it, and toy around with the images.  THIS is the final version for me.  ^^

*upgrades from 3.10 to the latest one*

Nope, still the same. The Config_GUI (dr. light icon) is just a box filled with white

That's weird.  Config_GUI loads up a window with options in it for me, including a whole bunch of screen size options, from 256x224 all the way up to 1280x1120, and what looks like a full screen option.

I don't know what else to tell you.  Sorry. :(

There's a file in the folder that just says "config" (it's NOT the Dr.Light icon OR the one that says "keyConfig").  Double-click on that, and just click "n" if you don't want to switch the z/x buttons.  The next question will tell you what screen size you can choose.  Choose it, answer the third question (that has to do with v-sync...just click "y") and you're all set!!!

Well, I finally played through the game (had to get a PC joypad though because I simply could not do this with a keyboard, I'm sure many of you could relate!), and here's my two cents:

I find that, graphically and nostalgically, this itieration of Megaman 7 is great!  When Megaman 9 and 10 came out for DLC I admit I was apprehensive about the return to 8-Bit, but when I played though them I thought to myself, "This is where Mega Man belongs!"  Playing through the old SNES game with an 8-Bit twist certainly brought more color and freedom than the SNES version.  However, the challenge, well, let's just say, it's like climbing a mountain with nothing but metal forks.  This game is HARD!!!  You really have to figure out which boss to start with, and down the line, you'd have to finish off the next preceding boss quick with the weapon you've acquired previously!!!  You have to take your time, and fail spectacularly a lot to find your way around and get a feel for the game, or, just use Cheat Engine and cheat your way through.

All in all, I give it a 9!  Despite the insurmountable challenge, this game is a great 8-Bit translation.  Speaking of which, I still hope for someone to localize this in English.  I have four of the pics changed to stay true to the SNES US version, and it's too bad I can't do more.  When it comes to computer code, I'm a cosmic zero.  :( Ah well, never hurts to hope.  :D

Are the stages DAT files? I change those with the map editor.

You won't need to touch them if you're just changing graphics, though.

Okay, I just wanted to play around with them and see what to do with them.  Where can I download the map editor???

I wonder, how do you guys open the DAT files in the game?  I reckon you couldn't mod those games if you didn't know how to open them and tinker with them.

They're jpgs and your W tank is really big.

When I uploaded them to Photobucket, they automatically converted to JPGs.  They were in BMP format before.  Also, I never changed the W Tank.  How could it be big???

Alright!  I'm so proud of myself!  :)  Only the in-game cutscenes and Get Weapon texts need to be modded.  Sadly, all that is beyond my control unless someone here can teach me how to mod or mod them for me.  Well, have a gander at the stuff I've done!  Hope this starts a Mega Man 7 Translation Revolution!  :D

BTW, the really long pic is the end credits.  Sorry I couldn't resize it any bigger to show you, but I changed the "rock" in Rockman to Megaman!  :)

The cut scene text seems to be hard-coded way down inside

Ah, so I guess it can't be changed huh?  What a bummer.  :(

I'm not sure what could have happened.

Did you save the file as anything other than a BMP?

No, every other file was a BMP, so I saved it as a BMP.

Now that I think about it, my modified file was a bigger size than the original (mine was 1.42 MB, while the original was only 57 KB).  Plus I used a resizing tool (Irfanview) to enlarge the pic and help me play around with it easier.  It's possible that may have been a factor.  I'm off to work in a few minutes, but I'll try something else tonight.  In the meantime, if you guys wanna help, that'd be great!  :)
The image should not be enlarged. It should be the exact same dimensions it was when you found it.

Yeah, I figure that's probably what it is, so I'm just gonna try it the hard way.  I'll let you know how it goes!

Do you have Windows 7?
Windows 7 paint doesn't like the game, but it usually doesn't turn up error messages.

I have Windows XP, my Explorer is v.8, and my Paint is Version 5.1.

Well, I first tried to modify menuitem.bmp so that "R.Buster" would say "M.Buster", and this error message came up when I double clicked the exe:

image/menuitem.bmp (after that was a bunch of Japanese gibberish)

I would have copied and pasted the entire error message to here but it wouldn't let me.  I guess it won't let me modify the pics, huh?  Unless I needed a special program for it.  -_-

Hello, I'm new here, and I love the fact that RM7, RM8, and RM&F are getting the 8-Bit treatment!

You know, though, with all the modding going on, I'm surprised that no one has tried to replace the Japanese text in the cutscenes with English text.  It doesn't have to be direct translations, just text that stays true to the SNES version.  If anyone can do that, that would be awesome!

Also, I actually attempted to modify the pictures of the menu and menu items to reflect the following:

R.Buster changed to M.Buster
T.Strike changed to T.Bolt (The Get Weapon pic after beating Cloud Man should reflect this change too.  Thunder Strike should be changed to Thunder Bolt to reflect the SNES version)
B.Wheel should be changed to S.Wheel (Get Weapon pic should be Scorch Wheel instead of Burning Wheel)
C.Noise reversed to say Noise C. (Get Weapon Screen: Noise Crush)
B.Shield to say P.Shield (I'm not sure if Mega Man says Proto Shield in the in-game cutscene, but if he does, it'd be great if that would be changed)

However, when I did this and tried to start the game an error message came up :(.  So, yeah, I'm not sure how to change the pics to reflect NA localization, but with you guys able to mod stuff, maybe you can help me???  That would be awesome!  :)

And one last thing: I think the ROCKMAN pic on the title screen should be changed to MEGAMAN, again, just to reflect the SNES version, though I'm not sure if there's an 8-Bit pic that is stylized like that.

Thanks in advance!  Great to meet you all!  :)
