Well, I don't have any "friends" but there are people I am familiar with by name (but they probably don't care or know about me

1. Start TLMS Classes on Air Man's Stage
2. 1 person starts on magnet man on one side, Dive man on other
3. Homing weapon spam.
4. Everyone switches to either Magnet Man or Dive Man
5. More homing hell
6. ...?
7. Profit!
8. No not really. Shove each other off the edges with Magnet Man's alt.

Howzabout we have a neat little event where several hosts get together and host some vanilla team-game modes (CTF, TDM, and TLMS)? New players can learn about the game, get to know some older players, and just have a fun time. I really want to be able to make new players want to hang around here, rather than just quit after two or three days due to an unpleasant community, all the number of wads to download, lack of interest, ect.

At the very least, we should make an effort to get some vanilla TDM going today.

I support this. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help here and I will try (though an 8 - 5 job basically is just punching me in the face).

I would do both. This way it might motivate players to not be bloody lazy and download the expansions to (as this is not hard to do and what motivated myself).

It's kind of sad to see that I'm not the only one who quit due to mod overload. I honestly haven't been able to join a server since version 2b. Eventually, I deleted the game and all it's files. Recently redownloaded it to try again, and lo and behold... still no servers that I can access.

Yes there was a day or so I couldn't access all the servers (not sure when). Though usually there is at least one vanilla server up, but usually it's pretty empty.

I have quit since then unfortunately. I am not planning on coming back until MM8 expansion is finished.

More vanilla game servers that include TEAM games like Team Capture the Flag and Team Death Match would be, in my opinion, one of the best things that could possibly be done to attract new players (that and I REALLY want to play CTF and not just death match). It'd mostly help because people feel less "bad" when they are working together as a team.

This game already has some really great values, such as the nostalgia it brings from the characters, maps, and music. It just needs another way to be publicized, like an official YouTube channel that has previews for upcoming patches, game modes, real matches between players (from different camera angels to look more dynamic), and, a big one, tutorials that explain, in a video, how to set up the game, the weapons, game types, skins, etc.

I'd really like to start playing this game with friends more, so please get to work on this. If I had any way to contribute, I would.

Which is another reason why I wanted to make this post: it has so much potential for all those things you mentioned, but I am not seeing it just yet (granted I am new here so I suppose my opinion might mean a bit less). If necessary, I'll create a channel or help participate in the channel to help promote it.

I've already posted that video in the other forum I mentioned, but have gotten only a small bit of success.

There's a 7 in my name and 7 letters in my name.

Been playing through a bit more of Ocarina of Time Master Quest. Before I go to the Water Temple (dear god someone help me) I'm doing the beneath the well at the moment. Somehow I forgot until I got to the first part that they'd be changing that too, as I was greeted by a particular enemy....

I like what they did here with this one though. Spoilered for spoilers

Ice Cavern will be the seventh dungeon I go to.

Sweet Jesus I am right there with you. I started playing Master Quest on 3DS I am DREADING the Water Temple.

I must also add that Kicking the new players for fun is not fun to them most likey, more vanilla they like that, make a post of attachment telling new players without wads should probably start off there and when someone is there it's best someone else goes to greet them and perhaps play some rounds. okay keeping up with the newest cut stuff members may be a bit much to some but you could greet the new members and tell them how things work. I did let a few of my friends play but they witnessed the down falls of the game as well.

Or a bit easier to obtain the newest version of Mods that are already out. Sometimes I find myself not able to join a server because I can't find a new version of a particular wad.

The only major complaint so far is the bots are ruthless. Other players online are good and I lose all the time, but it's seems like it's either "You fit in, or you get out." I was hoping with a larger playerbase we keep players interested with players of all skill types instead of the vets who have been playing for years (which is unfair to the n00bs but life ain't fair).

Bigger playerbase might mean that more match types are open to play. I was very sad to see CTF (coming from Playing Tribes Ascend you enjoy good long drawn out CTF matches) stay empty, and I was sad to see vanilla servers stay empty quite often (not sure if it's just my timing or everyone just prefers to play Classes X).

I imagine once the MM8 series is released for this game the playerbase might grow a bit. Right now I am in the process of getting some videos of multiplayer and see if I can upload them to my youtube chanel. I am also a member of an LP community forum so I will upload them there too. I hope that might spark some of the better known LP players to do an LP on those (or upload a couple of videos).

Very glad everyone is posting ideas. This is quite good imo, but I am just sure how to feel playerbase wise. I was able to get into a Vanilla match yesterday but since my skills lag I obvious did very poor (though I was content with being 3rd place tbh).

I'll post my vids on there and see how it goes.

We have vanilla servers, but 9 times out of 10 it's ALWAYS deathmach, and unfortunatly DM isnt the most newbie friendly game mode..

Neither is Classes TLMS as I started there. I spend most of my time now watching other fights (even when I've taken the advise of other more experienced players). At least in Deathmatch you get a chance to get back in the fray and do something. Though I agree with you: team games are less competitive in feel as opposed to clear Death Match modes. Sadly enough, I saw a Vanilla CTF, but only one person in there (no one ever joined and he left). that and i jumped in a couple of open Vanilla rooms and no one ever joined (which also made me sad).

@Gumball: Yeah I noticed the lack of videos. The only problem I am having currently is that my current recorder doesnt' seem to have very much compatibility with Skulltag (the videos come out great but recording in full screen I have issues with frame rate (even though in ZDoom had no issues with Final Doom recording I made the other day). If you have a good suggestion of a video recorder I am all ears so I can make a couple and upload them to my Youtube channel.

As a n00b myself I've noticed that this community (at least the guys I've seen from the forums) are okay. Though I can't seem to befriend anyone (I think it's more so my shy nature as opposed to the community itself). That and I don't see very many new players so I thought I might try something else out besides spamming my friends with "Hey come play MM8bitDM!" Because I feel like this game is worth it.

Has anyone actually had ideas of bringing in new players? I am very sad to see the playerbase quite low and I am only seeing the same players. Also, I am wanting to play vanilla but unfortunately I can't find anyone who will play (though the servers are up and good).

I am willing to try and promote this game, but I am not just not sure how to go about doing it.

Sorry if this actually belongs in the feedback section.

One of the Elysium Defense Zone rooms has 4 of the guys who spawn fire reaverbots: grab vacuum arm, the highest armor, and flame guard and you can farm them forever

This or on Manda Island on the sub ruins you want to go in and get the spawn that has the giant golden bird thing in the one room. You can tell when you got the right spawn when you run down the hallway you see a mimic treasure box there. There should be one room where the gold bird is sitting. Make sure you kill it and get 10,000Z on S Class License (meaning you play difficulty normal and have S Class Digger's License). Exit the room and come back and it would have spawned in again (which isn't normal). Keep doing this to get pretty easy Zenny.

Edit: A bit late you beat the game so this tip does  not matter now xD.
