Projects & Creative / Re: [Expansion] Cutstuff Community Classes (v5b)
« on: February 06, 2014, 11:17:23 PM »
I honestly really like that the class punishes you for missing, it's a good risk/reward mechanic and it challenges you to step up your game a little. I've had pretty good success with the class and its currently my favourite to use (along with Michael712's class).

What I don't like is that weapon drop is Plant Barrier (though it makes sense to a degree, all the copybots pick it up and start healing) and I am also bothered by the weapon cycle.

I'd like to see a custom weapon for copybots, actually, I'd enjoy seeing that for /all/ the classes in the mod. For me, I really don't like picking up a weapon that belongs to another RM/class and that's always been a small gripe I've had with this mod.

So you mean, like...

Fire Storm + Ice Slasher = Fire Slasher?

Or Search Knuckle? Heh, that'd be a giant fist that rips along the ground and climbs things. That sounds hilarious and awesome.

It's been a long time since I played but no matter what this theme always comes back. The whole game had wonderful music, though.

A few of the "poorly-made" DBZ characters have "poorly-made" beams that can OHKO at times. That's if they'd even use them. : P

It's total chaos in there. I wonder, do they ever do 2v2 matches? I know MUGEN has the support for it.

Dude, first of all, welcome back. I totally remember ya'.
Second, I think everyone deserves a second chance, even though I really have no idea what you did wrong. You actually played the game and from what I can tell were usually pretty sportsman-like.
Everyone runs into some sort of debacle here whether its in the forums, Skype or the servers, so I wouldn't let it get to ya' too much.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM v4 What maps do you feel need work?
« on: November 09, 2013, 12:55:57 AM »
I actually loved MM4BRI. I'm gonna' dive for cover now.

Okay, I better say something to defend it. It is a difficult map, sure but you make a run for that Beat Call and you're golden. It's alright in gametypes like Deathmatch and Duel because the darkness adds a strategic element and an advantage to anyone who memorized the layout. So, yeah, I'm guilty of knocking out the light to give myself an edge.

I love all the stairs and corners in the map, too. Using Knuckle when people jump, using Cutter on a stair while making a retreat and throwing Scorch Wheel down on people at lower levels.

It really does seem like everyone hates this map but me. So perhaps some form of change is necessary. Just saying that I really adore this map, I almost love it as much as MM3SPA.

So the bots in Cut and Gut Alpha are constantly killing themselves. I know we want to preserve the glory of these classic maps but perhaps at some point this can be remedied? :P

Other than that, wonderful job so far. It's nice seeing a few of the maps from before my time here.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: State of the Servers
« on: November 08, 2013, 11:47:42 PM »
I don't know about you guys but I love me some Vanilla DM...and boy, is that hard for me to get started. I've not been nearly prolific enough on the matter.

I believe Kapus already said it, sitting around in a server waiting for it to fill up is not the most exciting thing and I've done this on occasion. Sometimes, though, if I'm willing to wait a good chunk of time (and most of the time I start thinking of better things to do) I can actually get some good DM action going.

Right on Rui, that's the way to do it. My usual method now is grabbing some friends, occupying an empty server and waiting for folks to roll in. That's been the best way to do it, pure and simple.

That's not always possible for me to do, though, as people are sometimes busy with other things.

Deathmatch servers do pop up fairly often but I usually refrain from joining due to it being filled with beginning players. I have no problem with new players whatsoever but playing against them just makes me feel like a bit of a bully and before I know it, the server is cleared out. So, that's another server to scratch off the list.

I also thought Hotel would be a nice place to frag some folks but apparently not. I get kicked for not roleplaying or something (for the record it wasn't the host that kicked me for breaking the "rules" it was a few of the players there).

Now I know if I go sit in a duel server people will show. There's a pretty good level of interest for Duel and all it takes is one other guy to get things going. DM's a bit tougher than that; same is likely true for CTF, TDM or anything else that needs more players in general.

I think that if more people grabbed their friends when they're available and populated some servers, we'd see a nice flow of action from the other gametypes and if you're sick of vanilla we got all these other mods and maps to toss in for a little spice.

Couldn't hurt, eh? I'm always down for a game if you guys are.

Ah, yes, Marth confirmed. He's actually always felt like more of a Smash Bros character to me. This is good, now all we need is Sandbag.

B - Getting Hit
Up B - Getting Hit
Down B - Getting Hit
Side B - Getting Hit
Final Smash - Stares sadly then gets knocked away with a baseball bat.

Okay, I have to agree with Lt.Sexy somewhat...somewhat, though I don't think large maps are all that suitable for Deathmatch. Actually, I feel small maps are where it's at when it comes to DM.

It really does feel like everything is getting bigger and as a player that prefers frantic battles in small maps I feel I can pretty much put my favourite experience in the game to rest as the chance of that happening is, well, diminishing.

Maybe I need to elaborate on my concerns a bit. Many of these maps when they undergo changes, they become larger and more confusing. While the more expanded maps are certainly less bland (and I admit, look very nice), I would argue that it slows down the action quiiite a bit.
Large maps increase the weapon variety, naturally and that is kinda' nice sometimes. However, on the other hand, too much variety in weapons means that its harder to for a map to be geared and built around the use of the weapons in it.

I will take MM2HEA as an example. It's a box, sure but take a look at the weapons. The map is perfect for Atomic Fire because it features long straightaways along the map's perimeter. Scorch Wheel also gets some great use around the map's edge. There's a hard-to-reach Skull Barrier that's quite rewarding to get because it allows players to grab those items in the inner lava pits. Getting it is especially rewarding because some guy was firing Blizzard Attack at you the whole time (what a jerk that guy was totally not me).

I'm not saying large maps are bad and if some of the MMB maps are small well, you can just forget I said anything, I'll be happy. Heck, the new MM2HEA might even be a better map, overall. It's just that I've sort of been noticing a trend and I have to share my feelings on the matter.

There. Feedback :D
