That was Kane from Command&Conquer. You just defeated him by causing the great nothingness. (Edit: Kane survived so many things, it's ridiculous. Including an orbital Ion cannon)

The most fun vertical shooter ever.
You get bombs handed out like candy, the weapon system is cleverly made, you can change the speed of your plane any time (between a little slow and superfast) and the music is just awesome. Too bad that nobody knows it because it came out on a very unsuccessful console (except for Japan where it sold quite well).

One thing to keep in mind is never running away from rippers (Like Yamatospear, Iceslasher, Metalblade).

Spark Shock can be useful to slow down an enemy that is running away.

Flash Stopper is good for escaping a bad situation.

Use Magnetmissiles and Divemissiles in Duels to find out where your opponent is.

Infiniminer. It was basically one of the games that inspired Minecraft. It was fun when I used to play it and it's a shame that it died. The cool thing about it was that it was competitive. You had to collect gold faster than the other team to win, there were four different classes, each specialized on doing different things, and it had a lot less lag than Minecraft. And it's free!
