Is everyone going to get feedback on their maps when it's done? I'd really like to know how to improve my future maps.

Honestly, even though I know I still stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning, I'm eternally glad I signed up for this competition. The feedback I got throughout it taught me in a single map what is good and what is bad for map design.

We have a wall of shame?

I've always wanted to be infamous, can I take back my entry so I never submitted anything?

Edited. I realized that just before you posted.

EDIT: I meant I realized I didn't put in an image, I haven't realized how to fix the issue.

I'm making a skybox for a level, but, upon making the line horizons, it comes out like this:
(click to show/hide)
Now, this is up on an inaccessible area for the map I'm making, but if someone were to use the Fly cheat, like I did to get up there in-game, they'd see that mess up. Is there a way to keep the horizon from looking like that?

Ohhh, that would explain why they looked so weird in Doom Builder. I was wondering about that.

Hrmm, really? I was looking at Spring Man's stage for reference and SPRINGA1 and SPRINGA2 are defined in ANIMDEFS but not TEXTURES.

I did such, and now it's working. Thank you very much.

Help & Editing / Trouble with animated textures [Resolved]
« on: July 08, 2013, 01:23:59 AM »
I've been working on a tileset, and I'm trying to create an animated texture. I've followed the tutorial for such, and I've looked up possible solutions to the problem, but I can't find it.

Here's the portion of my TEXTURE code with the related textures:

And here's my ANIMDEFS code:

But, while the textures are selectable, the animated texture won't appear. I've used the search function to find the solutions of other people with animated textures that don't work, and I've applied those solutions to my code, but it still fails to work. I'd be eversograteful if someone were able to look at the code and determine what my problem is. If necessary I can send the current progress of my tileset.

All these maps look absolutely heavenly. Why have I never seen them hosted?

Skins & Bots etc / Re: SMB2 Toad Skin

Oh. My apologies; I was going off the SMB2 Luigi skin, which retained its NES navy-blue outline throughout.

EDIT: Although, looking at his sprites again, it's a darker blue than Toad's, so it probably wasn't as great a deal. Again, I apologize.

That stage looks awesome. About how many stages are planned to get an overhaul like that, or is the number meant to be secret?

I have more-or-less finished my map, but before I submit it I'd like some feedback from someone who hasn't seen my previous builds, just for a fresh opinion since my map changed quite a bit between my design from last week and the current one. Anyone who thinks they can help please PM me and tell me if I'm missing anything important that needs to be fixed or added.

In Game Name: Linnie
Favorite game mode: I'll play anything with classes, really. My favorite non-class mode is the new LMSGames.
Favorite weapon: I dunno.
Preferred skin: Centaur Man
Favorite stage: MM2CRA, MM5KNI, MM7SHA
Favorite class: Drill Man, Charge Man, Centaur Man
Greatest Rival: I dunno. Everyone likes me well enough so far.
Reputation: Everyone likes me well enough so far. I haven't added anything to the community yet, although I'm beginning to get into map building.
Anything else?: Game Grumps hasn't been as good since Jon left. Though I'm excited for new JonTron videos, Danny leaves a lot to be desired. Steam Train can suck a big fat sausage.

I apologize if it's too much to ask at this current point in time, but, although I still have about a third of my map left to go -- note that there was a short while in which I wasn't working on my map due to not knowing how to create a spring zone and not knowing how to properly ask, and that the majority of the work was done over the course of today -- I'm likely done editing for the day and will pick up tomorrow, and was wondering if someone would take a look at the structure of the map and give me feedback. I'm only asking because the last section of my map I estimate to be the most complex to make I don't want there to be some huge overlooked problem with a previously made portion of my map before I begin working with the final section.

If someone is generous enough to take a short look, I'd be most grateful. It's not decorated up pretty or anything -- I'll most likely simply ask someone else to assist me once the layout is complete -- but I'm most worried about the workability of it thus far.

I'm also unsure how to go about sending the map. If anyone could give me a hand with such, then when someone is able to perceive my draft of the map I'll PM them it.

EDIT: Would it be possible if it were another contestant looking at it? Showing a non-contestant which map is mine may cause bias when voting for said map, since it was said earlier that if the makers of each map are known, it could cause bias as people may vote for a map due to the maker. If they could just PM me -- I don't want to cause bias in the event that whomever is helping me would gain votes on my map just for them helping me -- we could discuss this much better without revealing any aspects of the map that could allude to which it is once the voting starts. I apologize if I'm being more paranoid than I should be.
