Mega Man Discussion / Re: So you want to make a Megaman fangame?
« on: January 02, 2013, 06:47:10 AM »
Chaos is totally right.

I have been using Game Maker and learning the basics of game making since I was like eight. I actually can't even remember its been so long.

In that time, I have NEVER posted ANYWHERE that I was working on a massive game project or that I needed help with it or whatever. I've messed with Game Maker, working on various projects to learn the program before I even consider it.

Now I've reached the point where I'm pretty good with Game Maker, including coding, spriting, etc. As such, I've started work on bigger projects. Once again, though, I still won't share these projects until I have something pretty decent to show for them.

When that time comes, of course, I hope I can get more help to speed the process up. But if not, I feel I'm experienced enough that if I kept at it, I could actually get these projects done.

Hey guys.

So I got a Silver Botkiller Sniper Rifle Mk II.

I don't want it.

I would like to trade for a different Silver Botkiller Mk II weapon. Preferably a flamethrower.

Make me an offer.

12. Not bad. The purple one was really annoying.

While I'm not intending to sign up to help for this game - I have to say, Galactan, there really aren't that many people on Dr. Freeman's team for the new game, so most of the community still has plenty of freedom to work on other projects, if they wish.

Now I feel bad for always saying it like SmashBroS instead of SmashBro.

I never type it like that though. It doesn't look right, but it sounds right... very strange.

Agree with Mike here, pretty much.

Honestly, classic MegaMan was actually getting a bit stale. I mean, I really like the age-old MM formula, but it needed change. All they did with each game was changed the bosses, levels and weapons, really. (But Universe did look interesting, at least.)

I feel like games like MM8BDM keep things fresh. Turning MegaMan into an FPS was really original, but kept the feel of the classic games at the same time.

Its reasons like these that I love the fanbases for some games. I hope that fans continue to to do something fresh and original, because honestly, I'm not sure I'd buy an MM11 even if it came out unless it did something to change things up.

But, eh, I feel like I'm rambling and going off topic a little bit here.

I would join in on this, but I really don't want to be stuck working on a big project like this when I have so many other things I'm working on at the moment. I feel like I'd slow you guys down.

Can't wait to see what becomes of it, though!

How is it broken? The link, or something in the pack itself?

Also, MY Oilman and Timeman aren't in V3, but different versions are. My Oilman is better though.

EDIT: I guess you meant that the link was broken. I have fixed it now.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM v3a Released!

I finally got this.

W00t PU stuff. W00t MM8 stuff.

Not so w00t that you used that other OilMan skin. I always thought that the other TimeMan skin from the PU expansion was pretty good, maybe better than mine... but the OilMan just looks disturbing to me.

Whatever, people can use my version if they so choose, I suppose.

I gotta be totally honest though, the new Duo does look better. Could I ask where I could get the original spritesheet? The sprites look great.

This new release makes me want to skin again. I just need inspiration :/

I'm also a GML programmer, though not too terribly experienced.

And I do like Blyka's engine.

Though not so sure how much I could add to this project, if it gets off the ground I might help out so long as its in a language I know (so, pretty much GML.)

57
Blyka's engine is used alot because its a really, really accurate engine.

However, using a totally new engine would increase the feel of SUCCESS the game would have, and we could truly call it our own.

But eh, I don't know how much I'd be able to help, though if we really do some sort of new graphical style, I might want to try my hand at some spritework in it. For the most part, though, I'm kind of tied down to other projects right now.

Whoa, whoa... what's so wrong with Game Maker? Its my go-to program for making games, other languages I only know how to actually... well, make programs with.

I have yet to see any disadvantages in it, at least from a player's standpoint. How could playing a game made in Game Maker be any worse than one made in another program?

If I sold all my crates for 2 cents...

I'd have a whole dollar.

YES.
