Help & Editing / Re: MM8BDM not for Windows 7?
« on: July 19, 2014, 07:16:18 PM »
First you said you can't play MM8BDM on Windows 7 and now you're saying it's a launcher error. Can you connect to servers through Doomseeker? I can currently play through the launcher or multiplayer via Doomseeker on Windows 7 without any issues.

Help & Editing / Re: MM8BDM: Troubles on Mac v4 online

If for any reason the Mac thread must be referenced, it can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2337&hilit=macbook

Try to disable OS X Gatekeeper when you copy MM8BDM to the applications folder because OS X may recogonize 8BDM as a security hazard otherwise. Off the top of my head, I believe this is only applicable to OS X Mountain Lion and later.

If you're having problems with the OS X download after that, then there are various official Windows options your friend could consider. Is your friend's Windows emulator an official product? If you go with Windows, the options depend on how strong your friend's Mac is: you could either run Windows natively on the Mac or use a program to run what is basically an OS X application of Windows (it would be treated as a regular application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).

Considering the fact that fire storm's projectile does less than a plant barrier projectile, I think a buff for that would be in order. I don't quite follow your point about thunder bolt, however. So what if it splits? The splits aren't all too easy to hit with, and I think thunder bolt is in line with the balance for other weapons. Heck, I'm a duelist, so my perception of thunder bolt is probably overrating it in comparison to deathmatch, which the game was designed for. As (many) others have stated, ring boomerang is overpowered in its current state and needs a nerf fast.

What does that have to do with the quote? And I'd be fine in joining if you took the advice in my previous post.

By the way, 3 points and maybe 20 minutes is a much more reasonable estimate. While it is *technically* possible to have a point a minute, it is very unlikely and one team is playing it wrong if that happens. And while I don't want to be too invasive by telling you how to run your tourney, bots may not be the best idea if you're going for a strict time limit because they are 99% of the time wandering around with +attack active hoping to score a kill by chance.

1. The "person" on the last page was actually a full series of people.

2. "Replying to them" to me means informing you that my role was received. I did so, but for some reason you wish for a specific PM, so it's quite presumptuous to say that I compared anything to "rocket science."

I have a problem with the idea that roleplayers might have an issue with the slim chance that of the NSA actually caring about them, yet they don't seem too private in kicking players from vanilla DM servers and flooding the chat in a very public manner.

Are you still taking people? I'll sign up if you are.

Well, the thread topic is "Opinion on roleplaying in general?" so he could just be curious if he's not alone in disliking RP. The rest of your points are valid though.

I hate RP in general for 8BDM because there are much better games to do it on. While I can use the "ignore" function in Zand to deal with obnoxious chat, it really gets on my nerves when roleplayers treat gameplay as a complete joke, joining the game and then choosing to chat over firing a shot. Really gets annoying when everyone's sitting on chat replying to a certain roleplayers, getting killed left and right, feeding kills and screwing teammates. The problem to me goes beyond their chat: it affects the gameplay of the server.

Is there actually any doubt on one of the originals?
