Mega Man Discussion / Re: What's Megaman's future?
« on: June 09, 2017, 04:25:17 AM »
Capcom, not Konami.

Mega Man didn't leave Capcom - aren't they funding a new Mega Man cartoon?

The future of the Mega Man franchise? Expect a game after the cartoon starts airing. Probably based on the cartoon, but maybe not.

I didn't even notice it in there - I must not be very attentive.

Swapped it out for Freedoom.

I've been trying to recreate it, but to no avail. I'm now guessing it had to do with me refighting the Genesis Unit, since, as you put it, Magic Man creates an entirely separate save. I must have done something to make the game think I was only just starting chapter 11.

I went and individually packaged them.

I have a situation. I'm currently trapped in the past.

I must have gone back to the start of chapter 11 using Magic Man, because that's where I am, but Magic Man is gone. I've still got my letter from The Mysterious Hero and my trophies.

I'm not sure if something will mess up when I go through the rest of chapter 11, but I guess I'll just have to play and find out. Worst case scenario, I could just replay the campaign.

EDIT: Rocketed through the rest of chapter 11. Everything is back as it was before. I imagine this could be agitating if it happened with, say, chapter 1.

Search Man was never really added into the mod, that's just a placeholder. So that's working as intended.

Are you testing on V5B, by the way? I almost want to fire it up for myself.

1: I think the thread title is a spoiler.

2: MMII was my only Mega Man game up until I was 13, so I got used to killing Quint. Just think of it like you're killing Mega Man instead.

I believe that version might need V4C, which I don't have and can't locate.

Here is an older version of MMXSP that should work with V4B - it's the one I play. Like MN9, it's better than nothing.

Edit: I did manage to find  this. I can't say whether or not it's really stable, but it seems to work with V5.

Asking somebody to sign up for a site just to download something is absurd. I wish I'd realized earlier that I still have V4B, and for the same reason.

In case it's still needed, here you go.

I was worried that I set my hopes too high. Evidently not, since I'm as impressed as I am. I love the aesthetics on Tornado, Magma, and Splash in particular. My only gripe is that certain bots (Concrete and Tornado) mowed me into the ground a bit by hitting me with their fully charged shots again and again. It seemed like they barely even needed to charge. Sure, they didn't get stuck, but they really threw me off with that behavior.

All in all? Worth the wait.

This is an incredibly baseless argument
I'd argue that it isn't all that baseless, actually. A lot of the common criticisms of Mega Man 8 boil down to "it isn't NES Mega Man". People complaining that it isn't 8-bit, that you need to use special weapons to advance through some robot master stages, that you can't pick from all eight robot masters at the start, that there aren't any E tanks, that it refills your weapons after you die, that there's voice acting period (not just that it's bad), that there are FMV cutscenes, and even that "it isn't on a Nintendo console".

That said, I wouldn't say that people who dislike the snowboarding sections are just salty because they're new additions. I'd instead say that they haven't realized the trick to those sections, or they just feel that doing the same gimmick three times was a bit much. They're quite easy as long as you do them right, no real memorization required. Not like those horrible X series Ride Chaser stages.

That's not what he's saying. I've seen the same thing.

If you do 'addbot freezeman' for instance, it says 'hidden bot "freezeman" has now been revealed!' before the bot has even entered the game.

I find Ice Man's personality a bit odd,
He's bipolar.

RM&F2: Compass Man. I have not managed to beat him. He seems invincible to every attack. I'm gonna guess there's some MM2 Alien-type stuff going on here
His weakness is, somewhat counter-intuitively, his legs.
I'm gonna copy your format now!

MM1: Ice Man. Just don't like him as much as the rest, and he's about as bad to play as as Oil Man in Powered Up.
MM2: Quick Man. Don't like his weapon, design, stage, or boss battle.
MM3: Shadow Man. Just not as big a fan as I am for the others.
MM4: Dive Man. Same reasoning as Shadow Man above.
MM5: Charge Man. Stinks. Terrible design, terrible stage, terrible weapon, terrible battle.
MM6: Wind Man. He's not very aerodynamic for a Robot Master that's always flying around, I find that ridiculous.
MM7: Turbo Man. Hate the stage, hate the weapon, hate the battle.
MM8: Grenade Man. I just find all of the others much more interesting.
MM9: Does Fake Man count? If not, Plug Man, just because I don't particularly like him, unlike the rest.
MM10: Nitro Man. Just kinda boring.
MM&B: Magic Man. I'm meh on him, but like the other 5 originals.
MMV: Uranus. I don't like how tough it is to use his weakness against him. He's still pitifully easy, but not any fun.
MMI-IV: Enker. I like Quint in general, and I enjoyed fighting Punk and Ballade. I find Enker boring.
Wily Tower: Buster Rod G. I still like him, I just think his fight isn't as interesting as the other two's.
R&F2: Komuso Man. I don't really get his design, and I felt he was the hardest boss in the whole game.
DOS: Volt Man. Worst stage, worst battle.
DOS 3: Bit Man. Despise that design.

Boomer Kuwanger's map is done? Really?

No offense, but it seems to me like you just threw 'something' together just to say you've completed something in this.
