Or better known as Solstice II in EU.

No, it was Equinox over here too. Check out the absurd box art!

I'm looking forward to it. Capcom don't know what to do with MM. Inafune knows what we* want, and will deliver; even if he does need a new series to do it with.

*we being a figurative term for fans of the classic/X gameplay that want more of a familiar style. Get off me if you disagree because I didn't ask for your opinion and I don't want it.

No mention of E1M1 from the 32x version of Doom? I find it hardly believable that nobody has mentioned that abomination
That's because...

This thread is only for music.

Anyway, this song irritates me beyond belief:

There's also only one spot on the map where you can actually get stuck, and that's after the disappearing block puzzle next to the Grenade Joe. Is that what you were referring to?

That's the one, the bridge immediately before the switch is then covered with magma and anyone in the area between those blocks and that bridge is screwed. I know that by sitting in the start area and waiting for the switch to be pressed you can avoid being trapped though, which is probably the only time when being idle has been beneficial for me.

I did think about the obituaries not exactly standing out, but laziness got the better of me. As for using the wrong Dark Man, I wasn't paying attention. Oh well.

Anything Goes / Re: What are you watching/reading?

Recently watched:
Swimming With Sharks. No, not some undersea wildlife series, a 1994 film.

Reading:
A Death In Belmont. Well I say 'reading', I finished it about 20 minutes ago.

I'm really just going over my own experiences with this one. Mega Man turns into Glitch Man at this point, and it's really horrible:

Much like how most of the Robot Masters in MM3 are weak to their own weapon, something I only recently found out after abusing a savestate and experimenting during the refights (a bit of a pointless endeavour considering that the MMKB already has this info, but whatever). And now I feel like an idiot for having always used the unreliable Gemini Laser in the rematch against Needle Man, when I could have just nailed the bastard to the wall with his own attack.

I always find it more interesting to play as a female character than a male one. No idea why, though.
I weigh up the advantages/disadvantages where applicable (character stats, etc.), then make a decision based on whatever's being played. If there's little or nothing in it, then I don't care and will happily pick random characters regardless of gender.

Because of this, for the longest time I would use Ilsa Nadir in TimeSplitters 2. Being a bunch of 15/16 year old boys, most of my friends hated it when I got more kills than them or survived Virus for the set time limit; apparently female characters are supposed to be first to fail/die in a multiplayer game? Nope. I'd also pick Blaze in Streets of Rage as a kid and invariably get further than I ever did as Adam.

On topic:
Holy shit! You can cut Flame Mammoth's trunk off with Boomerang Cutter?!

Typically, this is what happens when a Survival server gets crowded. The 'co-operation' aspect just goes out the window and a bunch of players just rush off for themselves... and die.

A box of hand grenades falls onto the planet for some inexplicable reason.

That mindset was very common back then. Not so much today.
Well now I feel like a freak for having always disregarded character gender and valuing Tyris Flare's magic ability in Golden Axe over being the all-round useless 'lead' male, Ax-Battler! Who didn't even use an axe. Come on Sega, at least try to make sense when naming characters next time. But put some effort into it too because this was just inexcusably lazy.

Back on topic, Gravity Man's portrait in MM5 doesn't look nearly as much like a quickly-rehashed MM3 Spark Man portrait as I remembered.
