MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8bdm Player Profiles
« on: August 26, 2013, 12:09:34 PM »
In Game Name: If it's got '86' at the end, it's probably me. It changes with my skin/class (eg Toad86, Drill86, Mega86), because I'm difficult like that.
Favorite game mode: TDM, TLMS w/classes, Roboenza, Missions.
Favorite weapon: Drill Bomb, Metal Blade, Leaf Shield.
Preferred Skin: Mega Man, Shadow Man.
Favorite class: Toa-... Drill Man. Effortlessly bypassing otherwise fatal and/or difficult to reach terrain is amazing.
Reputation: Nope. Probably recognised as part of some Toad Scourge or something by some though.
Anything else?: Saxton Hale w/classes for ludicrous "Robot Master Day" shenanigans. Toads Assemble!

A trampoline?!

He simply throws it away because he can already jump higher than any trampoline allows.

Some guy who got confused about armour and decided that loading it with ornate decoration was clearly more important than said armour being practical.

Every time I tried to stop, it spat gold at me and I had to click again, "just one more time".

These games must happen.

He couldn't guess Hard Man or Toad Man. For a moment I thought he'd guess Copy Robot, but then went with Proto Man for some reason.

And then he couldn't guess Blaze Fielding. Want to win? Think of something from the 90's!

MMIII, "YOU GOT" screen.

I coloured it while messing with the MM3 NES ROM (with the intention of eventually throwing it in there one way or another), but after changing up Spark Man's level and then getting halfway through altering Shadow Man's level, everything exploded in my face and I couldn't be bothered to start it over again. Oh well, at least I kept that picture. And I learned (yet again) why backups are so valuable.

Speaking of robots, I saw the name of this one and was sorely disappointed when I checked twice and saw that it actually had an 'i' in it:

Classes TLMS w/Maps, Classes TDM and Vanilla Possession all sound good to me.

The rest... eh, I'd have a look at a few of 'em I suppose, if they went up.

Couldn't care less about anything CTF though.

I can finish mm3 without lose 1 life but mmU looks really more difficult than mm3 or mm7..

Make no mistake, sections of MMU are vicious to the point of being designed solely for the purpose of difficulty. Some moments are nothing short of abhorrently cruel and had me wanting to break something.

As for MMR, been playing it for just under two hours now as Mega Man with five Masters down. I was farming one level like crazy to get easy lives and Screws for every advantage I can get (because I'm wary of fangames and projects just suddenly giving a player the finger and throwing some stupidly difficult stuff around). So far I'm definitely liking it, but there are some real dick moves going on in Saw Man's stage. Bastard mookified Metal Man drones caught me off-guard no less than four times.

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Who's your favourite Robot Master and why?
« on: August 25, 2013, 09:57:22 PM »
I'm not sure that I really have a favourite, based solely on the Robot Master itself... but if their preceding stage is any reason to pick a favourite then it's certainly not going to be Ice Man...

I guess I've always been partial to Drill Man, although (besides him just looking cool and having my favourite weapon) this has more to do with the level design in GameBoy MMIII, rather than anything in the NES MM4 level (with its badly-used and out-of-place light switch gimmick*).

Drill Man himself is just one of those bosses that can be unpredictable if you don't have Dive Missile. He's either really easy and simply drills into the floor, reappearing only to take some hits like a bozo before immediately burying himself again (repeating the pattern until he explodes)... or he behaves like an utter dick and rushes around hurling Drill Bombs every half-second before leaping across the room and onto your head, a generally unavoidable and very painful situation, all while not once going underground to give you time to breathe.

For some reason I find this potential horror of a boss fight appealing, although I always make sure that I already have Dive Missile in case I really need it.

*wouldn't it have made more sense for Bright Man to have something like this? Drill Man could have had hazards similar to those found in Needle Man's level in MM3, but deadlier.

Toad Days are glorious days. No prizes for guessing what I was named in that server.

Hi everyone. I'm crap at introducing myself so that's all I really have to say in regards to that.
