Anything Goes / Re: which type of game do you like most
« on: July 10, 2012, 03:49:54 PM »
Well, that's a tough question! I'm a little smorgasbord of everything, but I like having multiplayer for friends to play with me.

However, my favorite series to play are Techmo Koei's Warriors games, Namco Bandai's Tales RPGs, and pretty much anything Nintendo rolls out.

I had fun with Megaman Leg-I mean, 64 on the N64 when I was a kid, I always loved to rent it from the local Family Video around these parts. However, the game seemed to possess a glitch (which I never checked if it was widespread on the N64 version) that if you jumped in the service car before you got the Refractor for it, Roll would say that you found it, the screen would black out, and you'd wind up in front of the Flutter. You could no longer transition between areas, all people were gone, and where you could transition to further in the woods, you could now just free fall off the ledge of the planet into the sky forever.

Needless to say, I forever stopped trying to go in the service car!

Oh man, I remember the hundreds of hours that I've spent on 2, it's easily a childhood passion of mine! If you ever got enough people together I think it'd be worth it, for nostalgia if anything!

But yeah, SWBFII was my childhood godsend. Being the gigantic Star Wars aficionado that I am (and I just love being the soldier on the field out there), I just had to pick this up to be a Storm/Clone Trooper. I even taught my self nifty tricks like no-scope rifle fire for easy kills, though you'll find me almost always just being the default soldier class.

I own it on Steam once Windows 7 decided having the CD Rom copy of the game wasn't good enough for it, I just can't let it go!

I think this topic had activated some of our old and inactive members of Cutstuff.

Musashi pointed this out to me earlier, some of Capcom's out of house partners express they'd be happy to pick up MML3's progress.

That made me laugh. I was expecting something at the end, but it being completely blank sums up the situation pretty well, haha.

Ivory, you're completely correct in the aspect that in one end, the MM series has really nothing big to continue on. But to that extent, I think it would be hoped that for the few titles Capcom makes for the franchise, they'd want to pursue it to completion. It's a rather odd balance; we want familiar, but we want new. We want new experiences, but it derives from something that is age-old.

I personally don't think the business practice of cancelling MML3 to be the wrong doing. It's the fan treatment of one of gaming history's most beloved characters which is really the issue. As I stated, MM doesn't get much things new anymore, since you're right, there's not alot of ground to work with. But the fans' cherished realms, such as Legends, is sought to be completed for us to have closure. The community got offered that, but due to what Capcom saw, they pulled the plug. It's been discussed here, but it was how it was axed which was the fuel to fire; if things like the Prototype actually got released, I'm sure the reactions would be far less extreme.

It's utter crud. Even when they stated we could watch and not participate, and I'm sure they got plenty of submissions for ideas to begin with, they claim that as justification for not even giving the Prototype a shot. Sorry Capcom, you'll have to do better than that. I actually feel worse about seeing this is their 'criteria' more so than not knowing what it was to begin with. If this isn't just a scape goat, that is.

The site shared the name as the actual Korean MM Online, though it was shut down before we heard about Capcom's game. I'm guessing that either the name or its purpose was too close to what Capcom wanted to do for comfort. Stuff like MM8BDM, however, is out of their league to make one way or another.

Haha, yeah more seriously, I could imagine something the likes of Mega Man Online once aimed for to be what you're talking about. Too bad that got a C&D, if I remember right. They used to be a MMFF affiliate.

Perhaps. Let's face it though, with the popularity of the original, it seems highly unlikely.

What I think would be cool is a game that's essantially Super Smash Bros. However, it features every single Classic Robot Master (1-10) and a few other people. The stages and music are based off of Robot Master stages. Plus, they could add new content that costs Wii/Xbox/whatever points to add even more, just like Powered Up. (i.e: Stardroid pack, 500 points)

That would be some serious game.
Wait, I thought we already did that here, just free!

As much as I hate to admit it, the faction that we MM fans make probably isn't large enough to leave a dent that Capcom would take alarm in. Although I think we'd all love to teach their CEO a lesson, companies don't seem to care if stuff like UMvC3 is still getting them cash.

That being said, I'd like to see if all the talk of boycotting I see flinging around will make an impact!

It was on the N64? WELL I DIDNT KNOW THAT
It has the completely original title "Mega Man 64". :P Never got the sequel like the Playstation did!

EDIT: Oh yeah, besides the video in the link, looks like the other characters got leaked. No Mega Man, go figure.
