I don't know much about these guys but they're playing Mega Man for charity and that's always cool. Someone mentioned that they were gonna play MM8BDM so I helped them set it up and BOOM!

Check it out, give them some love. Donate $10 for a chance to win a NES and a ton of games, woo!

MM8BDM Discussion / Target Blaster Competition #2 - Play now!
« on: November 24, 2011, 05:08:04 PM »
Due to the success (success being, wasting poor Kapus' weekend) of the target blaster competition, we're gonna be doing this every weekend until it gets old! Don't worry, other kinds of competitions are on the way (I can't do any creative ones for a particular reason). The winner of the previous competition was Celebi, and he chose Shade Man's stage as the next arena for busting targets!

You are competing to get this medal:

Screenshots:
(click to show/hide)

To enter, simply download the wad file below and join the server Cutstuff Target Blaster Competition! Once you're in you will enter spectator mode. Join the queue and wait your turn. Once your turn arrives, it's blasting time! The stage is filled with 20 targets that you must find and destroy as fast as you can! The best time is recorded, and a note of the player is logged in the server log file. When the competition closes, I will see which cutstuff member got the best time and they will be announced the winner!

NEW STUFF:
[li] I have added an auto-suicide feature. If you don't beat the current record with this setting enabled, you will die as soon as the timer hits the record time. To enable, type set autosuicide 1 on the console. You will have to do this each time you join the server.
[/li][li] Fixed the issue where everyone in the spectating list would join the server.
[/li][li] The winner of the previous competition is displayed at the start of the game.
        [/li][li] New music![/li]
TIPS:
[li] You only get one try per turn. If the queue is huge and you don't feel like waiting, you can practice offline (type on the console "survival 1", then "map compo2").
[/li][li] You do not start with the Mega Buster, so you must use the weapons/ammo in the map the best you can.
[/li][li] The best time is only recorded if you beat it. That way there can only be one winner!
[/li][li] If your in-game name is not obvious, please state it in the chat of the server so I don't get confused.
[/li][li] The timer isn't actually accurate to real time, so we'll call them Capcom seconds™![/li]
Download: http://www.cutstuff.net/files/shademan-target.wad

Competition starts on the 25th at 12AM (GMT), and ends on the 27th at 12AM (GMT) sharp. That should give everyone enough time to have a go at it.

MM8BDM Discussion / Target Blaster Competition #1 - FINISHED!
« on: November 17, 2011, 11:20:48 AM »

Greetings Mega Man Deathmatchers (that's totally a word now)! Today I present you with a different kind of competition. Not feeling to creative? Can't get a medal because you only know how to destroy? Have no fear! This competition is all about smashing things as fast as you can! It's simply delicious. All you have to do to enter is join a server and try to beat the current time! Simple no?

General Gaming Discussion / League of Legends

I just realized we don't have a LoL topic. I am sad.

Yeah I play LoL. I play on EU West for my main, but go on the US server occasionally. Both usernames are cutmanmike.

I also have a bunch of youtube videos of LoL, mostly about us sucking and dying horribly.

MM8BDM Discussion / Weapon Competition #2- DONE
« on: August 22, 2011, 12:55:27 AM »
Time to get dark and gloomy. This weapon competition theme is....

You are competing to get this medal:

This competition involves making a weapon based on the Castlevania series! Now you may think that limits you to just a few things right? Wrong! As this is a competition involves quite a bit of creativity, I will allow you to make a weapon of pretty much anything from the 8-bit Castlevanias! You could make any of the subweapons, weapons the enemies/bosses use on you, summon enemies to fight for you, whatever you want! As long as it comes from an 8-bit castlevania game, it's all good!

Weapons will be judged on creativity, uniqueness and overall functionality.

RULES:
Submissions must contain ONE new weapon that can be run with MM8BDM launcher (via add file).

The weapon must obviously use new sprites. You can use any of the NES/Gameboy castlevania sprites and edit them accordingly. Or if you want to be really fancy, you could make sprites for things in the newer castlevania games! HOWEVER if you do this, they obviously must look 8-bit.

Sounds are not too important as I don't have any ripped at the moment. Feel free to use megaman ones!

           Only one submission per user!

Weapons cannot be posted here until the competition is over (feel free to post screenshots)!

You can include a test map but it will not be judged

Submissions are to be sent to me via PM. I will judge the weapons personally based on creativity, looks and how balanced they feel.
I will stop collecting submissions on the 5th of September, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Learn how to make weapons here

Get some Castlevania sprites here!

Good luck! Feel free to ask questions about the rules, or editing questions here!

MM8BDM Discussion / What competition do you wanna see next?
« on: August 20, 2011, 09:02:48 PM »
Decide!

I ask because the last mapping competition was really groovy with mappers being able to play with me and Rose in the server while we were judging it. If I did a weapon competition, it would be hard to do the same kind of thing so it would probably boil down to me just saying "Yup this one won, cause blahblah".

So let's hear it. If I did a mapping competition, the theme would probably be something unique but probably focus on DM again. If I did a weapon compo, the theme wouldn't be something boring like an element (fire last time).

And in case you haven't seen the mapping competition videos, here's part 1.

I could do both, but it took me ages to get the mapping one together so let's keep it at one running at a time shall we?
