I had this trouble before, did exactly what you're saying and worked. Now I sometimes enter a server when bored. It feels kinda awkward to play with lag but I think it no longer happens after some time

I haven't got any other display device connected to the pc instead of my monitor. I used to connect the TV via hdmi, but that was way a long time ago. The TV has broken and I got a new TV in replace about a year ago, but this TV doesn't work well as a PC screen, so I don't use it. However, I also tried disconnecting all other devices except for the monitor, the keyboard, the mouse, the internet modem and the speakers. It still didn't work
