Are you referring to the series themselves, or their fans? Because I honestly don't see either series to be 'obnoxious'. When it comes to the fans, yes there are some notorious people out there. But when you think about it, what fanbase doesn't have a few bad apples? There are a lot of fans that give a series a bad name, but one shouldn't have to be afraid to express themselves on how they like something without people giving them a critical eye for it.
MOBILE ADDON Fans mainly. I don't really think a franchise itself can be obnoxious. Yea no one should be afraid to express themselves but then again no one should poke bears with sticks and complain of the results.
Personally, I don't know much about Touhou or MLP. I have played a few games from the former, one being a really fun fighting game, the other being a Megaman fangame, and the last being a sort of Metroidvania type of one. I'm a bit interested in the series as a whole, but never enough to really explore the full depths of it. Meanwhile, I've only watched about a single episode of MLP. I will give credit where credit is due; it was kinda humorous and I had a good laugh at its silliness. However, I couldn't get attached to the characters or setting; it just didn't appeal to me. So that was as deep as I ever stepped into it.
I can see why someone would like Touhou and/or MLP, male or female. Saying it's "just for (little) girls" just makes it feel like someone's afraid of catching cooties or something. And judging a franchise by its fanbase feels rather simpleminded, as well.
ADDON: No one says it should JUST be for girls but when it is CLEARLY not your demographic one shouldn't ruin it for everyone else and thats what happened there
I read your post several times and still couldn't figure out your reason for why it was wrong. I'm not sure if I'm being extremely absent minded at this point and am missing something right in front of me or what.
I asked because you seemed to bring it up as a reason for why people should not like MLP or something along those lines (that's how I interpreted it, correct me if I'm wrong), but then didn't want to state the specifics. Which to me is basically like saying "this is bad but I won't say why" and I really dislike it when people do that. Also I'm not sure how you want me to find out if you barely gave any info to start from.
I'll drop it though for the sake of the thread.
I like Touhou and I'd probably like MLP too. I also think it's impressive that the fans have done a lot of cool stuff with it
My only beef with MLP (that isn't even directly related to the show itself) is with bronies since usually they're unsettling older men that try and turn mlp into some sort of "MEN CAN LIKE PINK TOO!!! I CAN WATCH THIS SHOW WITHOUT RISKING MY MASCULINITY!!the famous "im not gay!!! just cus i like ponies DOES NOT mean im gay!! gross!!""-esque sorta thing. they also butcher the show with stuff like gross porn (like ok sure there's gross porn of everything but with bronies it's gotten to the point where kids may end up finding even if its just a simple google search of a character).

Uh, last I checked, February was filled with love and pink hearts and valentines and shyness. I vaguely remember Black History (No offense to everyone, I really mean that. I just haven't paid attention to it since I'm in my room most of the time, so I never hear about it.), but I don't remember it being in February.
Why exact people continue to hate on MLP I've watched an episode, and it's really not that bad. The voice acting grates after a while, but I found it kinda adorable, and I plan on watching the rest of it. I won't follow i fanatically and plaster it all over my room, but it's enjoyable.
Are people really that angry at something so...harmless?
