Mega Man Discussion / Re: Mega Man Legends 3 cancelled
« on: July 21, 2011, 09:01:01 AM »
I know some of you guys don't like the Legends series that much, but I wonder if you could do me a favor and hit up the Facebook page we've going here with some support. It would be great.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/100000-S ... 6248475958

We're already over 4,500 and it's only been a few days. The more support the better.
Thanks ahead of time.

Haven't been on in a while. I figured I'd stop in, since I assumed you guys would be talking about his at least a little.
This is a heavy blow for me. Legends was one of my favorite series and I honestly think it's done for good now.

I feel kind of bad, because I don't quite understand why people are upset. I just assumed it was another game cancellation. Just kind of know I didn't follow CAPCOM or anything and I have never played Legends.
But regardless, this sort of makes me think of the Sonic Community now. Where it seems like the fans care a bit more than the company for a mascot character. Heck, there is even a DOOM based Sonic game. =P

It's a big deal mostly because of the amount of fuel Capcom threw on the fire for almost a year before pulling the plug.

- Legends 2 ended on a cliffhanger and we waited over 10 years for some news of another game.

- Legends 3 FINALLY gets announced last September. With the announcement, we also get word that they'll be sharing the development process with us, step by step, and we'll be able to participate in contests(designing bosses and a few other things) with the chance of getting our stuff in the game.

- The DevRoom trucks on for almost a year, everything is going great. Then comes word from one of the developers that the project was never actually greenlit yet, even though they spent the whole time acting like it was. We think "Hmm, that's odd."

- Inafune leaves.

- Word of a demo("prototype") coming to the 3DS's online shop hits the DevRoom. "Ok, cool." Oh yeah, but we have to pay for it($2-3). "What?" But it's technically a prologue to the full game! "Oh, ok..." And the sales of said "prototype" also determine if the game will be greenlit. "WAT"

-The game is then cancelled, with the "prototype" never ever released as promise and no real reason as to why they cancelled it.

Seriously, I'm done with Capcom. They'll never get another dime of my money.

Tutorial Collection / Re: [INSTALL] Installing MM8BDM on Mac OSX
« on: March 31, 2011, 06:27:07 AM »
Nice to see someone finally got it going.

I haven't been able to mess with it for a long time(nor have I had the time to play anyway lately). To be honest, I kind of gave up after my last few attempts at trying to get it running. Every time I'd get the damn thing working properly, they'd update Skulltag and then I'd be screwed again. I finally just decided to play on my Windows 7 partition and be done with it. I hate that I couldn't help more, but what can you do?

Mike, feel free to delete the thread with my old guide in it if you feel like it doesn't have any real use anymore. No need having two guides on the site confusing people.

Well, I saw on Twitter that you said you were working on the Mega Man 7 stuff.
If you've already finished the level for Freeze Man, maybe it won't take you too long to finish the MM7 stuff. You could wait and just release the MM7 stuff as a stand alone update and the newest Skulltag client at the same time.

Either way, I'm cool for now. I've been playing on my Windows 7 partition anyway. Other Mac users might not like it, but I didn't see to many of them stepping up to help you figure out how to get it working anyway. They can wait.

Alright Mike, new version of Skulltag is out.

98d-alpha - Build 3016
http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic ... 77&t=27297

It seems to be running fine on the Mac version, but I can't fully test it since none of the servers are using this build yet.
EDIT: I can confirm that everything seems to be running just fine. I started my own server and everything. Of course I didn't get to play with anyone, though, since no one had this build.

Guess it's up to you to decide what to do now.

Alright, I posted what little I know on their forums. My post is awaiting moderator approval.

Based on what I'd found already, and what you posted before me Mike, I've manage to figure out that it's looking for a file that does exist it's just looking in the wrong spot for it.

You'd have to go in and probably change the internal code for Skulltag itself to look for that file in the right spot and I have no clue how to do that.
To be honest, though, I doubt they'll bother either until the next beta release. I don't see them taking the time to mess with fix for a beta when they just end up releasing a new one in a month or two anyway.

Sorry Mike, I've had my head in Fallout: New Vegas and haven't been paying attention to the outside world much.

I'm downloading the newest version of Skulltag now. I'll try to update my Mac tutorial by tonight.

EDIT: I'm running into the same error as AKidNamedFord.

Skulltag cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure skulltag works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

Not sure what that means, but there seems to be no mention of it on the Skulltag forums. I'm running the latest version of OSX(10.6.4), same thing I was running when I got the MM8BDM demo working.

Also, Mike...

...this is for running the Windows version of Skulltag on Mac(looks like through some sort of Wine-like port). If someone wants to run it through Wine or whatever and it works, then more power to them. I've never had anything but trouble out of it when I did get it to work.
When I got the MM8BDM demo running and made my first tutorial, I was running it native on Mac OSX. Not through Wine or anything else.

I don't know. Everything is where it needs to be for the game to run, but this error pops up for no reason and nothing I seem to do fixes the problem. Until someone at Skulltag does something to fix the problem, whatever it is, we've hit a brick wall again.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MakoAoyama's Test Servers

Yeah, I set the gravity as low as it will go without it feeling too glitchy. I noticed that any lower than that and the falling animation isn't as smooth as it should be.
Any higher than that seems kind of pointless for a "low gravity" server.

My main reason for testing the low gravity is that I thought it would be fun for something like Crash Man's stage, when the full version is released.

Mako, I honestly never heard of anyone running any kind of game server, or any server on a mac before. I am curious if you are much you know of linux.

Next to nothing.
The extent of my Linux knowledge involves the few times I've installed Ubuntu on a computer, and I only messed around with it for a while before I replaced it with Windows again because I didn't know how to do anything.

I finally managed to get everything going after finding a list of server commands and stuff and having to put everything in manually. At one point, the weapons and items wouldn't respawn and I had to track down the commands to fix that.
I'm testing various configurations now before I throw the info in my guide.

I think a big part my problems from before are Doomseeker's fault, to be honest. I think it's just really buggy sometimes.

Thanks for the help, Mike.

MM8BDM Discussion / MakoAoyama's Test Servers
« on: July 27, 2010, 03:48:35 AM »
I will be running various test server configurations on my Mac for the next little while, trying to work out all the bugs so I can eventually add the information to my guide.

Feel free to pop in if it's up and running and let me know if anything needs tweaking. I'm not going to keep it running constantly, just whenever I happen to be online.

IP is: 71.88.209.195:10666

Also, I've been toying with the gravity in one of my configurations so don't be alarmed if you can jump really high. Makes for some interesting games, but I won't always have it on.

I don't know, I'll have to test it later or something.

I'm having a new problem now where my server will show up on the list sometimes and others it's like it doesn't exist at all. I can't see it then, and neither can my roommate.
The really strange part is that none of my settings have changed between the times it appears and disappears. It's just there sometimes, and others it's not.

Alright, I need some help here.

I've managed to finally get a server running(sort of) on my Mac but I'm running into just a few problems.

1. I can't get the game mode to Deathmatch no matter what I do. The game mode IS set to that in Doomseeker, but when I run the server it starts it in Cooperative every time, no matter what. Is there any other way to force it into Deathmatch mode?

2. My server does not have a name even though I gave it one. A helpful person that found his way into my server told me it shows up blank and that's it. It appears the same way for me and my roommate. Any ideas?
EDIT: I've managed to figure out that I can name my server, but it can only be one word or a group of characters as long as they are connected in some way. For example: I used "fuck" and it worked, but "fuck_you" also works as long as I have the underscore in there. If I replace it with a space(simply "fuck you"), it refuses to display it at all.[/list]
I'm also running into this same issue with the MOTD(Message of the day) box. It's doing the exact same thing.

The server IS working. I can get into it myself, my roommate can get into it with me, and the person(I didn't catch his name) that managed to stumble into my server could get in and play just fine. It's just that my server has no name can only have a one word name or line of text and is always in Cooperative mode.
This could possibly be a glitch with the Mac port of Skulltag, but I'm going to look for other options here before blaming the problems on that.

Yeah, sorry I haven't been working on them or updating, but no one showed any real interest in them, besides DragoonEnRegalia and that was in the IRC server.

Now that I know that more people are interested I'll get working on them.

By the way, Tron Bonne won't exactly be running around on her feet.  Get what I mean?

If not, maybe this will shed some light.

And again I say OH HELL YES.
