MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM Funnies
« on: May 24, 2011, 02:08:32 PM »
Heatman's stage. I was simply dazing off between the game and getting ready for school, looking at the slightly burnt paper I was going to have to turn in later that afternoon, for a grade that may or may not break my sophmore year of high school. The world was calm around me and I enjoyed every breath I took, every second I blinked, and every step I made between the PC and the backpack, stuffed with random books and random pencils and random ideas that would someday benefit me and make me an accepted member of this damn planet of ours. I see a red furry on my computer screen, as well as two other players running away from it. I realized that I wasn't going to get molested by a furry anytime soon, let alone in a video game, so I decided to sit back down on my pitch-black chair and begin fighting the oncoming red apocalypse headed my way. It was about ten seconds away. I was practically ten seconds ahead of him. I knew what route would work best at evading the zombie, and I knew what weapons would help me avoid its furry red paws. It was a matter of strategy, a matter of time, a matter of accuracy.
I type "changemus bbplane" into the console. In an instant, I start listening to one of the most hipsterish tracks of all time, and see that I'm about two seconds away from a red monster. The two men beside it are tagged. As soon as they transformed, the berserker ability kicked in, flinging them across the map. All three of them melted.
Idk why I put the first paragraph in. If you read it though, great job wasting your time.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: so what do I do with all these files?
« on: May 24, 2011, 12:35:32 PM »
Quite the interesting question. I used to have all the old classic skins made by Blaze and Squidgy from the SGC demo, mainly because I wanted to feel like a cool old-timer. In the end, nobody could really see the skins so I guess I just put them in a zip file and stored them somewhere.
I would reccomend that you should do the same. Store all the old files in zip files and keep them archived in a small folder on your computer. I actually still have the original zipped copies of every MM8BDM release on the REALLY REALLY REALLY LOW chance that we ever need them again and my current copy is unusable.
Come to think of it, we should have a time-machine server. We can host the SGC demo and show people how the game was like back in July 2010. Basically, it's just needle cannon spam all day erry day, with magnets thrown in for good measure. But I wonder if all the old weapons worked a lot differently from what we have today. Also, that intermission ad Mike put in is still ringing in the back of my head like some sort of parasite.

This tournament is dead and even Sheena knows it. I'm only still replying in this thread to prove that not every tournament has to be 32,16, or 8 players. It is possible for a 10-player tournament. It can be fair if all the strong players fight for their spot and prove their worth. The weak players can still get a guaranteed spot in the bracket to show they might have what it takes.

I don't think that GuardianKnight read my post correctly. Therefore, I present a basic model of the tournament bracket proposal I made earlier.

Just ask a question and be done with it Savior. A simple "Anyone want to play CTF with me at my server?" is much better than "HEY GAIZ COME TO MY AWESOME SERVER IT HAS
CTFAN
MAP PACKSAN
COOL TIMESAN
YEAH. SAVIOR'S SERVER! FUCK YEAH! GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
You're doing just fine, Savior. A simple in&out is all you need to do to get the right amount of players into your awesome. It would be awesome, though, if you and Nu teamed up on Messatsu's servers to create "Unfaded's (insert mode here) servers". Just an idea I'm throwing out for the hell of it.

Projects & Creative / Re: AMP map pack. Fuck this.
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:44:35 PM »
It seems that DTD lacks an incentive (At the moment) to finish the maps for this potentially wonderful map pack. He has entrusted me with the map pack, which includes all the music and layouts and whatnot. In any case, I am considering uploading the 5 finished maps (Very impressive, by the way) and calling it quits at that. I am also considering simply leaking everything and providing a download link for everyone to download and test. If any of you are interested in collaborating with me on this map pack, or simply want me to just upload something, post on this topic and make your voice heard. It makes me sad to see some great maps go unreleased, so I'm hoping that you guys at least respond.
Thank you for your time. :ugeek:

I'm currently thinking of a way of making a realistic bracket with the least amount of byes possible.
The best I can think of is this: we have a pre-round in which 4 of the 10 players fight for a spot in the first round. Two players are eliminated, the remaining two get comfortable spots against players of an equal skill level, and we can go with the 8-4-2 format that most tournaments are used to. No BS, no major hassle. It's kinda like the NCAA tournament, where there are 4 matches (or was it 5 this year? DAMNIT NCAA) in which the teams fight for a spot in the field of 64.
The remaining problem now is who would be put in those spots and why. Also, there's the problem of whether or not it makes sense.
Now consider me crazy, but I'm about to defend this 10- player stuff. I know, it's pretty messed up, but hear me out on this. With many players currently occupied in tournaments. An 8 player would be considered too small, and a 16 player tournament might take a while to fill, considering how people don't really want to join tournaments anymore (opinion) and how we have a small amount of available participants as it is. I blame this on the fact that you need AT LEAST 3 CUSTOM WADS JUST TO ENTER THE FUCKING POPULAR SERVERS AND SOME OF THEM AREN'T HOSTED ON WADHOST.FATHAX LIKE IT COULD BE, THUS FORCING THE PLAYERS TO GO INTO THE DEPTHS OF THE CUTSTUFF FORUM JUST TO FIND AND DOWNLOAD IT.
Therefore, Sheena had to think of a number that would fill up relatively quickly, while still not leaving out many participants. And from this, the number 10 was born.

We need a much easier way of acquiring the wads many people use. The best thought I can think of is using Dropbox to upload the wads and put the link in the url section of the server info. That way, we can instantly download from Dropbox and install the wads much faster.

Everyone chill da funk out about this topic. Many of these votes are for people they like or respect. Not evveryone is voting for high-skilled players. You have votes for people that we can consider amiable and awesome in general.
But I'll be honest here: I have no fucking idea how I got this many votes. I ragequit like anyone else, I can curse at players on the other team, I EVEN HELPED THE CUTFORCE TROLL DARKMATH AND OTHER ROLE PLAYERS. It baffles me to see how people overlook that, but I guess I should drop a theory and then ignore this topic for good.

WHY THE HELL ISN'T THERE ANY LOVE FOR JACK IN THE BOX?
I just love their potator wedges and ultimate cheeseburgers. Those two things are the greatest pieces of fast food I have had the honor of eating in my entire life.
