Well yeah, I knew that. Doesn't make Doom's soundtrack anything less then awesome though.

Oh no, if anything it makes it more awesome.
My friend (massive Doom fan) at first felt cheated by this, but then he realised that Doom's inspirations weren't a bad thing at all. Doom definitely has that dark feel, mixed with metal and symphonies etc. To see its inspirations is a good thing. And yeah, safe to say Mega Man had inspirations from real songs. I don't think they set out to "copy" them, not at all, but definitely inspired by them (even if sub-consciously).

ducktales for the game boy. i have only been able to beat it once. and that was 10 years after getting it.

How much harder was it than the NES version?
I remember playing the NES version. While it was hard, I can't remember it being near impossible to beat. I was playing Talespin again. I dunno how I clocked that as a kid. =S

Hahahaha, Brotoad, that vid was good! Pretty much linked all the songs together. Bah, that staged annoyed me the first time I played (when I was about 8). Although watching this guy made me nervous... i was like "Jump on the edges!" >_< lol.

Ha ha yeah, I noticed in the Metallica song Seek and Destroy, and how that part in Flash Man's music sounded similar. On the subject of Metallica, here's some other ones I noticed:

When I picked up the special item in MM4, the fanfare sounded very familiar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsvByN42Ei8
To this song from Metallica (chorus at 2:00): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEQnzs8wl6E

This one not so much, but MM2's stage select music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzIjbB9NrWE
Sort of reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA

On the topic of similarities in video games... any Doom fans should check out this vid (if they haven't already).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H3BB2gKKeY

I think what we can see here is that video game music is definitely inspired by real music (in this case, rock and metal! m/)

EDIT: The Doom song "I sawed the Demons" sounds a lot like Mega Man 2's stage select theme as well (more so than Big Gun by AC/DC).

I found the same, except, I found out that Journey song was more recent (newer than Elec Man's theme!) which means Journey sounds like Elec Man, lol.
*edit: the recording of Journey i saw was new, pretty sure the song is older than 1987.

Not only that, here are other songs that sound like them both:

Bullet for my Valentine: Forever and Always: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7vFTHQ-Q2s (more notably the last 2 mins. of the song).

But then, i found a link to this song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYidHOAfzaY

And this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rp6bxsOVk8

And very vaguely like the chorus in this one (lol!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIrCFrFpHvw

Coz I'm not a huge Journey fan (i know, shock, lol) I didn't know about the Journey song. The song that got me looking for Elec Man's similarities was the one from Bullet. A good discovery though!   So all the songs (except for the Bullet one) i found out from youtube.

-Furrys
-Anime
-Weeaboos
-Earwigs
-Cheese
-Psychologists
-When my Ping is over 200
-Namewaster on Youtube
-THIS ANNOYING GAY ASS OKKUSENMAN-SHIT!!! STOP IT!!! PLEASE!!!*
-A ton of other crap I can't remember

* PLEASE!!!!!
I find this so offensive. Seriously now? Who the fuck hates cheese?!
Cheese is delicious! Well, only that processed shit on ya burgers. Non of that real cheese.

How can you prefer "plastic" cheese over the real stuff? lol. I like cheese slices on burgers, but when it comes to gourmet stuff and deli stuff, MY GOODNESS THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEESES -goes crazy- So good! lol.
What do I hate though? Ahh, I guess ignorant and arrogant people? I consider myself pretty universal, but I lose patience with those type of people.

When you and your "not wife" hug, do your bodies somehow fuse together and makes things rather awkward? (like this question, lol). And if so, do you have to re-transform back like the way the Devil Twins did in MM9?

I remember in the demo version I would load game and the bots would disappear. It's why it's advised here I guess. Oh well, guess I better knock off an entire chapter at a time. Bring it on! -game face-

Why did the dinosaurs die out?

Because I ate them.

Joking, I have no mouth.

It was Guts Man!

Oh noes!

It's ok, I'll tell Guts Man off. I'm sure he'll learn his lesson next time about eating things more than twice his size.

Ha ha, I'll do my best then without any glitches.

Yeah I saw the Guts Dozer in the trailer, but not Yellow Devil (I musta missed it).

Is Quick Man Doc Robot still a pain? I couldn't imagine fighting them all at once! lol

Thanks for spoilering Yellow Devil.

Yes, you must beat:

-All 6 robot masters.
-Defeat the robot masters on Wily's Hideout 1 and 2.
-Beat the boss, the Yellow Devil.

Oh wow, I gotta put my game face on next time I play. Thanks for letting me know though.  :)
When you say robot masters on Wily hideout 1 and 2, you mean the bots, not the original six as bosses? And yeah, thanks for spoiling the boss Yellow Devil. For that, I'm going to do a bastard thing and use the pause-trick on you, lol.

... or at least just Thunder Beam.  :p

Did you beat me?
No I haven't yet actually. I got up to Wily hideout last time.
Do I have to beat an entire game (ie in this case MM1) for it to save? (beating boss means beating game I'm guessing?).
And why can't I type in a password?   lol.
Quote from: "Trift-EXE"
You gotta beat all the Robot Masters, then the boss, and then the game saves.

Quite hard to beat the game with hard AI, but you must do it in one sit.

Spoiler of what's my current location
(click to show/hide)
Ahh right, damn, i was so close, lol.
Far out, the later games are gonna be one loooooong sitting, lol.
Bring it on.  :p

Ok, I tried it and it doesn't work.  :?

I exit the game and come back in, but when I come back in it says the other levels are unavailable. It doesn't replay the intro with Dr. Light talking though, but yeah, doesn't let me choose any level i've unlocked, it goes back to Cut Man's.

Do I have to beat a certain amount of levels? Or do I need to make a specific directory to save game?

Thanks.

 my bad, I wanted to express myself truthfully without offending anyone. Perhaps we shall replace it with "fudge?" lol.

I'll make sure to make it less obvious next time, perhaps either like f**k or simply @#%*!

this just reminded me of this optometrist company called FCUK,
it makes me laugh all the time, but I sometimes use it for
[the word nobody can be bothered typing out, because we are too scared to]

Ha ha, there's a brand (i think?) called French Connection United Kingdom, and it plays on the whole FCUK spelling. There's a bridge in Melbourne that has the massive sign with it on it. It's funny, I always shout it when I go past it.  :p

The game auto saves after each chapter.  Press strafe right/left to change chapters right or left.

Ahh thanks, I guess I didn't push the right buttons when I played again.

As for the lag, I realised I had other stuff open when playing, so when I closed them, it didn't lag as much. It's long open stages like Ice Man's that have this issue. At least it's fine now, because it went almost unplayable one time.

I'm up the the Wily Hideout for MM1. It's pretty challenging, but I love it.  :D
