Mega Man Discussion / Re: Mega Man Universe
« on: September 17, 2010, 06:17:50 PM »
Seeing as i'm no good at programming, i yearn for when games bring out these level editors. I think I have creativity in me, just i couldn't make a game from scratch (i am dependent on most of the programming pre-made). An 8 bit Mega Man editor would be sweet as too! I like editors where you can add your own music and what not (even work with triggers and specific properties etc) but i am reliant on an already programmed editor to work on, seeing as my programming skills are very minor.

As for this game, it's the one game so far that hasn't made me go "omg omg omg!" but yet these new trailers intrigued me. I agree on the no milking thing, I don't want Capcom/Inti Creates to become the next Activision or Infinity Ward etc etc. Otherwise we'll be seeing Guitar Hero: Mega Man or Call of Duty: Mega Warfare or something? Every 6 months, lol.

Yeah dodging the five blades is a lot harder than three, coz with three i could hide behind Blade Man when he threw them, so i didn't get hurt. With five, there's a lot more so I can't hide as easily behind. Anticipating his melee is tricky too. I can't even get to Sheep Man on hard mode.   So far I've had no luck what so ever, lol. This will take me a while on hard mode it seems.  :p

So far i did buster only on MM1-4 (i have to re-do 1 though) and MM9 - 10.
You are right, Plug Man was hard with buster only =S Not only that but I refuse to use E tanks, lol.

10 was hard but do-able, but having said that, I'm definitely gonna need their weaknesses playing on hard (esp. first run). Hey Snake, remember how you taunted Blade Man how you could easily dodge his blades and the fact he had no melee attack? Yeah well he does now on hard mode, and throws more blades! lol. Good one Snake!

To be honest, when i first saw the previews, they didn't interest me that much (Rockman online had a bigger impact, even though it showed no gameplay footage).

But now looking at all the customizable stuff (and level editor!) I can see the replay value on this being very long, and quite fun. I'll look forward to it now.  :D

I like the 8bit mega melody ^^ sounds the way it should

Thanks man  :D Yeah, I tried to make it sound as signature Mega Man as I could (with limited NES sounds, it's harder to do as well).

I was aiming more for the Mega Man 3 sound (despite other MM inspired music thrown in) most in particular inspired by Hard Man's theme, being rather bouncy and catchy.

I liked this one and my Ninja Gaiden one most, coz they were based on too many sources, where as the Bionic Commando one was exclusively based on their stage 1 music, so less original. I am working on other little MM inspired music. When I do get around to finishing them, I'll post them on youtube and link them here.  :)

I always found that Eddie never gave me what I needed.
When I was low on health, he gave me a weapon capsule.
When I was low on ammo, he gave me health.
The 1-up was always a win/win (unless I wanted to die to restart the level, lol).

HISSSS! How dare you try defeat me! lol =P

I start off with Spark Man and end with Snake Man (I used shadow blades on Gemini Man) although the second time playing it I used the buster only (except when you have to re-fight them, i kept screwing up otherwise, lol).

With Snake Man, it's good if you can own the middle part. When you're up there, you can jump over Snake Man as he's coming towards you, and then shoot him and avoid his search snakes. Then you jump on the middle part again until he comes back for you and repeat in this way.

Spark Man is the first one I go against, and he's not too hard in the sense you can really shoot the crap out of him most of the time, lol. The jumping does get tricky (like with Magma Man) in you're not sure if you should jump over him somehow or wait where you are and hope not to be stomped on.

I say hardest battle with buster only was Hard Man (I couldn't seem to dodge when his knuckles retracted, so I had to constantly rapid-fire him when I got hit to compensate) and Shadow Man (judging whether he's going to throw his shadow blades or slide was tricky).

I found that once I learned all the bosses patterns and techniques, I could defeat them a lot easier without their weaknesses. Ha ha TrueTenguMan, I said the same thing once, "weaknesses are for noobs."  :p  lolz.

Mega Man Discussion / My Mega Man remixes etc.

Hey all

I didn't want to make an entire thread at first but I figured I'd make one to show some of the stuff I have made, which I want to share with everyone.

All of these videos have been made in Fruity Loops 8, and I was new to it at the time. They are remixes of Mega Man songs but one of them is an original one inspired by the game. I downloaded NES vst plug ins for the sounds in that one. Anyway, without further ado, I will post them:

This was my first attempt and of course I had to do a cover of Snake Man.
It's not perfect, in fact some parts seem off, but I am happy for it being the first one I've done.

This one is the second NES sounding original track I did (you can check out the other ones too if you like). This one was heavily influenced from Mega Man, and I think this one is my favourite.
(click to show/hide)

This was a remix of one of my fave tracks from MMX2. It's short but I quite like it, and it includes some 16bit MIDI samples from the game.
(click to show/hide)

Finally I decided to re-create the intro highway level from MMX. It turned out all right, and I realise now I completely forgot the strings section   but other than that, i am quite happy with it.
(click to show/hide)

I hope you enjoy them as I enjoyed making them. I have other game related stuff on my youtube account if you're interested (any Ninja Gaiden fans?).
Feel free to comment honestly too, I would admire that. Thank you!

P.S. If you can, please ignore the youtube poops on my account >< lolol.  :p

In the words of M. Bison "This is delicious!"

These are really great, and I think the second one is my fave so far.
The 1st and 3rd one remind me a lot of MM5's main medley, and the intro of the 4th one reminds me of the intro story music of Blaster Master.

Shame these aren't in a game, but who knows if someone will make one?

Also, that other vid with the game, the boss is insane.    How are you meant to dodge that 360 card attack, or all those ying yang balls? lol. I never seen, read, played umm, what ever that thing was you mentioned, lol.

It looks fantastic, and great choice in music too for the trailer.
I very much, really, a lot, abundantly, extremely, over 9000! am looking forward to this game!

Ha ha, hmm, I can't say I really remember Snake Man in the cartoon series. I guess I watched more of the earlier episodes. Napalm Man got jibbed too, being shown in the intro but not in the actual show.

Being the Ruby Spears cartoon though Yellow Devil, no doubt your portrayal would be brief and ridiculed by Mega Man's wise-cracking dialogue and quick irrational thinking, lol. He'd probably grab some electrical wires and electrocute you and say something like "What's the matter big fella? You look shocked," or something like that, lol.

Maybe the yellow devil appeared in the Japanese cartoon?
Oh well, we'll have our revenge.... sssss!  :p

I don't care if you did it legit. It's just the cheaters that piss me off. They didn't deserve their victory, I should just kill them now >:)

I whole-heartedly agree. While it was an amusing exploit, those who think they can claim to beat the game by doing that is robbing you of your victory, and even of theirs.

And those who use turbo-fire ... don't get me started (I used to in Contra but not anymore, lol).

-Turns into Snake Man- Perhapsss I shall join you on your conquessssst (snake-voice, not lisp, lol).
