MM1 Yellow Devil
AHH! I'd always stuff up the jumps and at times miss the chance to hit his eye. Having no E-tanks in this game, this made it very difficult and tedious. D:

I'm awesome

Lol, it was YOU!!!   (i nearly pushed "report" instead of "quote" lol).
You made me angry, though I figured out your patterns and used thunder beam on you (i was oblivious to the pause trick, but that's just not me anyway, lol).
Fire storm when I ran out of Thunder beam.

P.S. Sorry I swore at you and stuck my middle finger at the screen when I finally beat you. It was quite overwhelming at the time.  :p  lol.

Forgot to add one:
MM2 Dr. Wily stage 5?
When you had to beat the Robot Masters again and beat the Wily Machine (on difficult mode) was pretty frustrating. If it weren't for Metal Blades I'd be screwed! XS

I don't mind if it's released in mid October or later (I finish uni for the year then) lol! Before then, I can't play it until I'm done with uni (i know i'll be sucked into this, ha ha).

Definitely Toad Man is the hardest boss ever, lol j/k. Seriously though, every boss was hard until I found out their patterns. I even played them again and only beat them with the mega buster. Having learnt their patterns I could do it, but it was still pretty hard.

As for the ones that have stuck out like a sore thumb, here they are:

MM1 Yellow Devil
AHH! I'd always stuff up the jumps and at times miss the chance to hit his eye. Having no E-tanks in this game, this made it very difficult and tedious. D:

MM5 Wily capsule
Not sure why but I had a hard time trying to beat Dr. Wily in MM5. His patterns threw me off and I struggled keeping ahead of him. Then I realized the stupid bird could screw him up after i beat him without it. =S lol

MM7 Wily capsule
... no comment. His patterns were hard to remember and I was limited to four E-tanks. Hardest Wily boss thus far in the series.

MM10 That block devil thing
Ahh! combination of the devils and that block boss from MM2. Hardest thing was dodging the attacks and not falling to your doom!

They have been the hardest ones for me, unless I remember any more later.

I should have mentioned, I played again only to beat the Robot Masters with the Mega Buster (and using no E-tanks). Screw doing that on the Wily stages! lol. I need my weapons and E-tanks when I can! XD

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Favourite songs from each classic series game?
« on: September 12, 2010, 06:04:19 AM »
These are tough choices choosing just one, but ima go with it anyway.

MM1: Fire Man
Something about it that is both nostalgic and melodic, and he's probably the hardest RM to beat (Elec Man dies easy with Rolling Cutter). Seeing as each MM game has at least one badass RM (usually the hardest to beat) I'd say Fire Man is the original badass.

MM2: Wily stage
So it sounds like a broken record people saying this as their fave, lol, but i can't help but notice how much it sticks out, and how true it has stayed all these years. An instant classic!

MM3: Snake Man
So damn catchy and bouncy, it's no wonder I had this tune stuck in my head both as a kid and today.

MM4: Cossack second stages
After the first five seconds I knew it was an instant classic. It struck me when I first listened to it, and I love the melody.

MM5: Protoman /Darkman stages
Probably the most whistled MM tune for me, it's very catchy and appealing to the ear.

MM6: Tomahawk Man
A tough one but there's something about Tomahawk Man's theme that gets me going. Also the main bit in it sounds like the level select theme, which is also win.

MM7: Slash Man
Something about this somewhat latin-inspired medley that I rather like. Very catchy and foot-tap worthy.

MM8: Tengu Man
Haven't really played this one, but I listened to the Sega Saturn version and loved it.

MM9: Galaxy Man
Was a close call between that and Wily stage 2, but Galaxy Man's theme is so damn catchy and bouncy and it makes you feel like you're in some crazy outer space scenario. It's out of this world, lol.

MM10: Wily stage 2
This blew me away when I first heard it. It's contagiously catchy and the build up is awesome. This and Wily Machine take the cake, very awesome.

I haven't really played MM&Bass to decide on that one.

Yeah, MM2 and 3 seemed to have odd chains, but MM2 seemed to be obsessed with Metal Man, lol.

Bahhahahahah!! Brotoad! That is so true!
I thought the same when I saw that in MM9.
I face palmed, and it was just after he was being a smart arse and showing Dr. Wily how he failed the previous times.

MM is so naive, even in MM10.
Auto: Oh no, the medicine making machine is gone?
Dr. Light: Who could have taken it?
Mega Man: It was Dr. Wily?

Yeah no shit, who was the bad guy in the past 9 games (10 if you include MM & Bass) lolol. Oh well.

Interesting, I never knew that about Flash Man's weapon.
For a while I wondered if it damaged Bubble Man (flash popping bubbles? lol that and completing the cycle).

Mega Man 2 and 3 didn't have straight forward weaknesses like the other ones.
In MM3, I always thought Gemini Man's weakness was Shadow Blade (second best weapon to use against him) so the order worked if I fought Snake Man last, but then I realized Search Snakes did nothing against Spark Man, and that Shadow Blade was the ticket (and SS did most damage on Gemini Man).

Ha ha ha nice comics! Thanks.  :D

I have seen many of these before, but this is the first Mega Man 2 one I have seen:
(click to show/hide)

It's funny how Metal Man hits himself, as he is his own biggest weakness, lol.
The order could work though if you did Bubble Man first. Then it would be > Heat Man > Wood Man > Air Man > Crash Man > Quick Man > Metal Man > Flash Man, though his weapon doesn't damage any robots, it wouldn't matter beating him last.

Splash Woman's unexpected power-up:

For any Metal Gear fans out there (like myself):

P.S. Mega Man 11 will be a given.  :p

of course! since sheepman was such a HUGE success, i think all of megaman 11 should be based on farm yard animals!
including cowman, so you know, they can MILK him!?!

MILKING

see where i'm going with this

Lol! Yep, I do see where you're going with it.

Ahh, I enjoy the Mega Man games coz the gameplay is virtually unchanged, but i know what you fear though... it becoming an almost soul-less franchise (Call of Duty? Guitar Hero) where they make game after game only to make moolah.

As for Sheep Man, I learnt to like him. At first I thought "seriously, Sheep Man? and not Thunder Man or something?" but I learnt to like him and welcome him as a Mega Man robot master.

There have been odd robots masters in the past, but they worked out.

P.S. I wonder what the sexual innuendo robot master of Mega Man 11 would be? Penetrate Man?   with his weapon, Penetrate missiles? I sure hope not, lol.

Oh nice, I was going to recommend the Megolamania MM3 medley, coz it rocks!
Also I liked one of the MM2 Dr. Wily stage remixes posted (Japanese power metal band I think?) sounded awesome.

Here's a few more that I quite like:

Dancing Snake Man!

Head banging Top Man

And this is one of the tracks I made using Fruity Loops and using some NES plug ins. It's my first Mega Man inspired track, and I hope you like it/ let me know what you think/ what songs you think inspired me to make it.

I will find some more remixes later.

And finally, this one is for Cutman Mike    lol

Ahh cool as.
Ah yes, I forget you'd have to make different sprites for every single character.
That's cool, you're doing a great job and sound very busy. I for one will not rush you for the completion of this game.  :)

Lol! A Ruby Spears Mega Man game would be hirlarious.

It would be filled with cheesy one-liners and wise crack, and when an obstacle is about to drop on your head, hit to a commercial break so when you come back you have more time to dodge said falling obstacle (i'll link a youtube video later, lol).

Hmm, I haven't seen the trailer yet, but the idea sounds interesting if they include a level editor. I lold at the Bad Box Art Mega Man. I have a PS3 so if it's any good I might look out for it.

I never played any of the MM RPGs. I have to say though that they didn't interest me much. Once MM went 3D, I lost interest. Unless it's side-scrolling 3D (like Bionic Commando Re-armed) I feel alienated as to what I think a MM game should be played. Just me maybe? (yet I contradict myself after playing MM8BDM, but that doesn't count ok? It's an awesome FPS cross-over that just seems to work ok! lol).  :p

As for Mega Man Universe, we just have to wait and see.

P.S. Mega Man 11 will be a given.  :p

Hey, thanks for the welcome guys. =D Hey no probs Mike, after playing the demo i thought I HAD to comment and let you know what I thought.  :)

A lot of Snake Man fans you say? Interesting. Something about him that I liked as a kid. I notice there is an abundance of Metal Man fans, lol.

Oh excellent, I noticed in your new screenshots that you now have access to Rush and item 1 etc. so that will be interesting in reaching secret places.  :D

Ah I thought the demo version had weaker Magnet Missile lock ons. You see, I suck with aiming, so my main strategy is either spamming projectiles or shooting ones that either lock on or deal a lot of damage, lol. Sure I am used to FPSs, but as for Mega Man, adding a third dimension makes it a whole different situation (Metal Blades are no longer the strongest and easiest weapon to use, lol).

Oh nice! There will be bosses and secrets (keep your secrets very secret in the mean time!). I was also wondering if stages like Star Man's will have low gravity, and whether there will be room for Mega Man 6's Rush power-ups (strong MM and Jet pack). I think most of my other questions were answered in another topic.

Once again, thanks for the welcome msgs, and I look forward to seeing this project further.

Hey everyone

I didn't want to make a new topic just to say that I'm new to the forum etc. so I figured I would also put my personal input as to what I think of the project so far etc etc.

I am loving this, I have to say a big thanks to Cutman Mike and all those involved in the MM8BDM project. I recently played the demo (after viewing countless videos online) and I have to say I loved it! I finished the demo and I absolutely cannot wait for the final product, but already I see how well it's coming along.

I wonder how many people thought of making a Mega Man game in first person, in a deathmatch style? It's a great idea, and it combines my love of old platform shooters with FPSs.

Anyways, to wrap this up before I rabble on any further, here are some of the things I am looking forward to:

Of course being a Snake Man fan, I cannot wait to play that stage!
Looking at some of the screen shots, there seems to be some of the disappearing blocks. I wonder if you'd include more to access more powerful weapons in the game? Especially in levels that already had the disappearing blocks (as this would make accessing those weapons harder).
Also I am not sure if the Magnet Missiles lock on to targets, I hadn't noticed.
Finally, many people mentioned boss battles. I was wondering if in the single-player campaign (deathmatch with bots) there would be boss battles 1v1 with each robot master using their own weapons (i saw the trailer with Punk and thought it was great).

That's all from me for now, I needed to do an epic intro so I can type less next time, lol. Cheers!  :)
