Anything Goes / It's about time!...
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:33:59 PM »
Well, after putting it off for a long time, I finally went back and clocked MM8BDM (hooray for old news! woot! lol).

Though I just wanna say, that I can't thank the team who worked on that project enough. Not only was it transforming a childhood icon into 3D, but as a stand-alone game, it was awesome fun! (Rather hard at times -.- but fun, lol).

I wanna thank everyone, and especially CutmanMike, for the time and effort put into this project. Now, I think I have to not be a chicken and play online!

Which gives me this question... how do I do that?
Do I have to type in IP addresses or can I find active games on a list?
Sorry if I am new to Skulltag.

Cheers everyone!  :D

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Art Competition - VOTE NOW

I vote for Hard Man saying "Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?" Wait, that's not on the list? Awe c'mon, it was the best one! lol.

Actually, I vote for the alien + bubble lead one. Not only were the visuals really good and cute, but it had a great geeky MM reference, and it was lovey-dovey enough to be a Valentines message. I vote for that one.  :p

I own 2 copies of Megaman 1, 3 copies of Megaman 2, 1 copy of 4-10, and both arcade machines (Anniversary collection for the win).

I also hacked my IPod touch to make the select a robot master noise (when you switch between robot masters and it makes that beep noise) to make the keypad sounds, and the energy refilling noise for when you plug in the charger.

I have an extensive knowledge of all Megaman games from 1-10.

I can play 23 arrangements of Megaman music on piano which are:
(click to show/hide)

I printed out an E-Tank logo to make my own E-Tank drinks (Diet Mountain Dew)

That's pretty much all I can think of right now.

Give this man a medal! lol. Haha, that is cool that you had the same idea for me for my phone, except that unfortunately I could not edit the sound effects on my phone. I wanted that sound effect to play when you open up your weapons HUD, whenever I unlocked my phone, and have the exact same "selecting" sound when I moved around for my selection. Even the powering up sound for my phone charging was on my mind! lol. Shame I could only edit ringtone and msg tome.  :p

You even reminded me that I could play MM songs on guitar (yes I know, how did I forget to mention this?   lol). I'm not great on guitar, so nothing special, but I have been mucking around with the following tracks (I'll only include the ones I can actually play entirely):

Cut Man
Bubble Man
Snake Man
Spark Man
Hard Man
Yamato Man
Dr. Wily stage 1 (MM2: only learnt recently)
Intro stage (MM7).

I play by ear, and I find it quite fun and rewarding to trying and learning these songs. Because the melodies are all single notes, it's not as difficult learning as some other more complex songs that you get (esp. in heavy metal).

Do you have any videos on your piano compositions Uscdrew?

With a name like DoomThroughDoom, I can tell which game you like, hehe.

I know I should say Doom, coz it was the first huge follow-up FPS from Wolfenstein 3D, so pretty historic, but I had more fun with Duke Nukem 3D.

I think the thing I liked best about Duke over Doom was the "real world" locations, instead of the Hell and Future Earth locations (or random brown rooms, lol). Having said that, my favourite levels on Duke 3D were the Lunar Apocalypse ones.

People, we are here to talk about what's on our mind, not go on about people's post cou... oh, I see what you did there, talking about that IS what's on your minds, lol. Nicely done.

Ooh, this is a favorite from my home base:  rename it "Current Thoughts," and we have a perfect topic.

Anywho, I'm thinking of focusing on one particular game and playing it until victory...problem is, I can't decide which one.  I'm thinking of Mega Man 3/9 or Super Mario Bros. 3, but...what do you guys think?

Mega Man 3 is quite long, but boy is it good! It's a great challenge too. SMB3 is also good, but prepare to rage at the later stages, when it starts to become pretty hard. In fact, unless you're a gamer god, I can guarantee you'll stress during that game, hahaha, but it's still a great game.  :p

Geminiman x Geminiman is a great pairing and you know it
Would that be incest or masturbation?

Bahahaha ah, this reminds me of a conversation my friends used to bring up.
Only bad thing is, they never shut up about it once it got old. @_@ lol.  :p

Quint killing Mega Man would result in a time paradox:  Mega Man never lived on to become Quint, meaning Quint never killed Mega Man...

I could've sworn I had more to say.  Oh well.
I know what you mean, time paradoxes are hard to explain (and they hurt the brain, lol!).

Ahh yes, now I know why MM4's intro (not the train part) reminds me of the old Soviet National anthem.

This remix of it at the start (BTW, it's an awesome Bright Man remix too) reminds me of the theme from Yoshi's Island.

the remix:

Yoshi's Island intro theme:

Here's the old Soviet National Anthem:

And finally, someone put the two together, lol:

Conclusion! Could the Soviet national anthem had been an influence for the intro music for MM4? Remembering that it was the same year the Cold War ended, and the game introduced a Russian Scientist?

And more so, Red Yoshi will reign supreme for the motherland! Err I mean... lol.  :p

My bad, now I remember Splash Woman coming up.
Then what's to say about Hard Man then? lol.
I have a good pun (I think) ready. I hope no one has the same idea as me.  :p

Sometimes the similarity fits, but other times it doesn't (eg. Flame Man has an Arabian feel to it).

But I agree, for eg. this one I wouldn't say Star Man fits, instead something like Solar Man (sounds like you're deep behind enemy lines) or even Nitro Man (sounds like you're speeding along).

Hmm I've run out of characters to choose, so I have to maybe use other characters within a franchise. Having said that, what about one for this one?

Great, kid! Don't get cocky!

Great kid! Don't get penisy! lol.

Ha Ha I like the entries so far, and Brotoad, hahaha, the Hard Man one was great.

I have an idea for one, I hope I'm motivated enough to draw one and post on here.

Wow, I thought I was a massive Mega Man geek, but apparently I'm not that much, lol. I got heaps of remixes on my MP3 player, and the OSTs, but I have a lot of other music on it as well.

My ringtone and msg tone are MM related, but my computer background isn't etc. I have one t-shirt of Mega Man though, that I wear occasionally.  :p Not sure if I should make a topic about MM related stuff, or... what we look like with them? DUN DUN DUN!   lol.
