Haha frik; I loaded up the game and saw you could select stages again (while keeping your castle progress) so I went ahead and got the YOKU letters (really liked how they were hidden; plenty of visual clues to indicate the hidden areas). Really helped out fighting him again : )

Was able to beat the game and man, very very cool all around! I love the ending art a bunch. Very glad I didn't pass up playing; definitely exceeded my expectations!

Hey dudes! I've played this game for about 4 hours now and wow! It's really amazing! Tons of great new graphics, enemies, bosses, and weapons! It's exciting to try out and fun with regards to how much it plays like the NES titles (my USB controller worked right away too, a big plus!) The saving and shop are great features too.

The game is also super challenging! I have to agree that parts of Rainbow Man's stage are ridiculously difficult to deal with. It's far from being impossible, but I can see this type of challenge turning away many potential players right away. I am a huge Mega Man fan, and I recognize how amazing this game is in design and wanted badly to see the rest of it, so I stuck with it even after many MANY game overs. However, I'm sure the developers want more than just Mega Man die-hards to play this! If there is an easier difficulty in the works, I'd suggest calling it "Normal" mode and making this current version "Hard". You could even consider it a nod to Mega Man 2!

I'm at the Robot Master gauntlet right now, and I'm not sure I'll be able to overcome it! I didn't collect all the YOKU letters, which I assume is how you access Yoku Man's level. Fighting him here, I can't really figure out a weakness, so I hope I'm not too screwed. Having 1-hit KO spikes as an attack seems a bit much! I'll try my best to continue, but I fear I might just have to give up and start over.

Anyways, great job on this! I'm loving a bunch of moments while playing, and one of the fights and music it plays during said fight in the castle was just way cool to see. Hope there's even more surprises! Thanks for working so hard and releasing this in time for the 25th anniversary; very incredible work!

p.s. small bug mention that I'm sure tons of others have already addressed (and it may have already been fixed!), if you get Game Over after beating 4 Robot Masters, the halfway cutscene will replay even if you've already seen it. Not a big deal since you can skip but figured I'd mention it. I really haven't run into any other bugs while playing so I'm super impressed with how solid this is!

psps: sorry if I repeated anything that has already been said or whatever; I fully admit to not reading too many of the posts in this thread out of fear of being SPOILED

Anyone else really hyped about how HD Megaman is? Seriously it brings joy to me to see Megaman look really high graphical and animated in a 3D game.
There is a LOT to be excited about, but this was definitely very very nice to see! This is the work of people who care and respect Mega Man as an NES icon; they didn't make him completely 8-bit like some joke character, and instead created a modern HD look that still kept everything that makes NES Mega Man what he is. I would love nothing more than to see brand new Mega Man games in this style : )

Haha aww, poor Lip.

I do think the "veterans" and "newcomers" categories are tripping up some people. While I understand it means for Brawl, I feel like it's making people safely assume that all of those characters will also be in SSB4.

Even if they were all in one category, I could understand guys like Mario not getting too many votes (who seriously believes Mario would not show up?) Sonic, on the other hand, may get a lot more, and it could verify if he's still the most wanted third-party/overall character (which I assume he is). Of course, people may be complacent because he showed up in Brawl anyways.

ANYWAYS... the poll results are still way interesting and cool so I'm glad so many are participating.

Astarisborn94 has notified me that a cool new fan poll for Smash Bros. is up and about! Anyone who likes filling out little check box surveys should check it out.

I also made an article about it to link all of the results info.

The Weapons Archive reasoning sounds more like an assumption. I think they did choose some popular Robot Masters, but also tried to balance out the unique elements (If they had Heat Man, he would overlap with Flame Man... Instead they have a Robot Master for electricity, earth, wind, ice, bombs...)

That being said, people can have multiple favorites and switch favorites all the time. It would not surprise me if Inafune had been caught calling one Robot Master his favorite from a game, then saying a different one later.

Also, I wrote a thing about Mega Man and Samus awhile back on MM4SB because it is a pretty popular argument. I think it's silly personally and that there's many MANY differences between the two, but people will always continue to draw parallels. Which is fine, cause then I'll just say "WELL THEN THEY'D MAKE A GREAT TEAM!!"

The lack of robot masters / stardroids / other kinds of major bosses with obtainable weapons in SMBC kind of disqualifies it.
I mean, it is not really a Megaman fangame, it is more like a mario fangame that happens to contain megaman characters.
(It's kind of like saying that the MvC games count as Megaman games, just because Roll, Zero and other characters are available)
Yea, I definitely was thinking of games like MvC too. I'm not in a rush to spend more time on this list right now so works for me!

Ideally though, I'd want to have a database of these games, where people can sort and find what they want easily. Things like "is this a minigame" or "can I play as Robot Masters" could be sortable tags, as well as "is this more of a Mega Man cameo game". But that's a pie in the sky dream cuz it'd take work to do it right and zzzzzzzzzzz

Ha, you're a cool dude Super Smash Bros. Fan! One can get easily carried away by their hopes and respect for a character to just assume they're a shoe-in for Smash Bros., so I like that you're keeping your expectations realistic. I do feel like every passing month means less remaining development time to fit in extra characters, to the point of wondering if we're already past some cutoff date in the game's development. Anything's possible though, so I'm not going to give up supporting Mega Man's appearance in the game until its out on store shelves.

I'm very excited at the possibility of an interactive poll showing up. They have all sorts of ways they could implement it, including having an early Miiverse category for Super Smash Bros. where they drop DOJO!!-like updates and allow comments and responses from WiiU and 3DS owners. The idea of swarms of players submitting Mega Man drawings for the development team to see with their own eyes makes me eager!

If the game gets released without Mega Man, and its revealed they attempted to make something work but got caught up in a copyright mess, I would be pleased they tried and depressed that him showing up could likely never happen...

Oh yea! I also made a "Monday Post" on the site today! It's all about Super Smash Bros. and E3 though, no Mega Man this time (sorry!)

Oh nice! Thanks for sharing your finds, CHAOS_FANTAZY. I'll be sure to add em to the main post!

Also, should I add Super Mario Crossover? It has a pretty large Mega Man component, even though it is technically a Mario fangame. Would also mean things like Mushroom Kingdom Fusion would be fair game, although I don't know as much about that game...

Haha, I hope he'll be in it! If you really want to see him in it though, you should voice your support whenever possible : )

I know Super Smash Bros. Fan did kind of a big bump, but it's not without warrant. I'm going to start posting updates on the Mega Man for Smash Bros. site again after a long hiatus. I'm going to at least have something every Monday, along with extra updates whenever something of interest comes up, or if there's a new miniMEGA comic. Furthermore, Super Smash Bros. Fan did an amazing job re-hauling the Mega Man topic at Smash Boards with tons of great information, so please check it out if you want to find out more or talk about Mega Man in Smash Bros. with other Smash Bros. fans. Of course, E3 2013 is also coming up fast, so that's another good reason to revive discussion of this (although it's probably more fitting to discuss it in a general purpose Smash Bros. topic on this board!)

I agree with leoalex50's sentiments that Mega Man in Smash Bros. would be a fantastic goodwill gesture from Capcom. It doesn't run the risk of developing a new game and hoping it sells well or not; instead it's something that pretty much everyone would be looking forward to.

The effects of Inafune's departure with regards to Mega Man seem more and more devastating as time goes on. I do worry that without him at Capcom, it'll be harder than ever for Capcom and Nintendo to strike a deal. It would put me at ease to have some kind of indication that Sakurai was interested in Mega Man, besides his past acknowledgement. It's kind of a crazy and weird hope, but if someone created or did something to show support for Mega Man in Smash Bros. that made gaming blog headlines right before E3, it might lead to journalists questioning Mega Man's inclusion, which would make it a more important issue to Nintendo. Another crazy hope is one I'm sure a lot of people have; an announcement of some way to submit requests officially (via a poll or comments or something) before the game's release.
