Haha, I hope he'll be in it! If you really want to see him in it though, you should voice your support whenever possible : )
I know Super Smash Bros. Fan did kind of a big bump, but it's not without warrant. I'm going to start posting updates on the
Mega Man for Smash Bros. site again after a long hiatus. I'm going to at least have something every Monday, along with extra updates whenever something of interest comes up, or if there's a new miniMEGA comic. Furthermore, Super Smash Bros. Fan did an amazing job re-hauling
the Mega Man topic at Smash Boards with tons of great information, so please check it out if you want to find out more or talk about Mega Man in Smash Bros. with other Smash Bros. fans. Of course, E3 2013 is also coming up fast, so that's another good reason to revive discussion of this (although it's probably more fitting to discuss it in a general purpose Smash Bros. topic on this board!)
I agree with leoalex50's sentiments that Mega Man in Smash Bros. would be a fantastic goodwill gesture from Capcom. It doesn't run the risk of developing a new game and hoping it sells well or not; instead it's something that pretty much everyone would be looking forward to.
The effects of Inafune's departure with regards to Mega Man seem more and more devastating as time goes on. I do worry that without him at Capcom, it'll be harder than ever for Capcom and Nintendo to strike a deal. It would put me at ease to have some kind of indication that Sakurai was interested in Mega Man, besides his past acknowledgement. It's kind of a crazy and weird hope, but if
someone created or did something to show support for Mega Man in Smash Bros. that made gaming blog headlines right before E3, it might lead to journalists questioning Mega Man's inclusion, which would make it a more important issue to Nintendo. Another crazy hope is one I'm sure a lot of people have; an announcement of some way to submit requests officially (via a poll or comments or something) before the game's release.
