General Gaming Discussion / Re: Mario Kart, yes, Mario Kart

MK7 makes me rage because of the lack of both Waluigi and Dry Bones.
Wah?!  FFFFFUUUUU--

I'm enjoying myself with Daisy at the moment.  The game played a bit different from Mario Kart DS at first, but once I got used to how to do mini-boosts, I slipped right back into it.  I'm by no means the best player on the 3DS Net, but I'm certain I'm borderline above-average.  At the very least, I can beat the 1st set of default staff ghosts!  :D

I should get to work unlocking all the carts and whatnot.  So many coins to collect!  T_T

Help & Editing / Re: MM8BDM kinda "porting"
« on: February 09, 2012, 11:01:00 PM »
That may be true, but basically from what I can tell, Skulltag is a closed-source project unlike some other Doom source ports.  That said, whoever's working on it present day have no plans to code Skulltag for anything but the three main computer operating systems.

Now, you could try running megagame.wad with MM8BDM-v2c.pk3 on other ports, but there's absolutely no guarantee it will work, even if you load the Skulltag default WADs alongside it.  Chances are, there's more coding at play that's exclusive to Skulltag alone, like the bot code (such as it is).

Projects & Creative / Re: [Uh...] Chaos Generator Upgraded Ver. E

I just realised a problem. My Chaos Generator Upgraded mod requires the original chaosgenerator-2.wad to run, which could be found on the blog, but now it's been deleted, since it was hosted on Wadhost. This is a BIG problem for me, since people won't be able to play this mod without it.
And this is part of the reason I did not use Wadhost exclusively.  No control over my files once they're uploaded there.  For example, if I made a minor update to something, I couldn't just overwrite the original file.

And of course, what if it went down, as it has?  Then where would I be?  :B

Well, I'll tell ya...  I'm not entirely sure there's actual defense against third-party clients or modified first-party clients, or even custom texture packs.  There should be, but there may not be.  It might be a good idea look into those, though they can just as easily backfire on perfectly legitimate users.  I know on another server I used to play on, I've been kicked for "flying" (sometimes when I fall off something, I teleport right back where I was, due to blocks disappearing/reappearing where I place them) and "quick build" (I'm not sure what triggered this...) because I lag so badly.

As for two or more people slapping signs on a chest at the same time?  Please do tell me if you get any results from that!  I'd love to know.

Unrelated edit: I just found out something odd about the server...  The address is "server.cutstuff.net:25564", right?  Well, I'd apparently typoed that into "sever.cutstuff.net:25564" when I first typed it in.  And it still worked!  So I tried just "cutstuff.net:25564".  And that worked as well!  Go figure, eh?

I can honestly say I've tried everything I could possibly think of.  Chests nor signs are flammable and none of the old exploits I found work.  Genuinely, the only possible way I can think of that someone other than chuggaa might have accessed his chest would be like you said, hacking, or plugins overriding plugins...

And incidentally, I don't even see where the store was standing, in the NPC village.  All I see is chuggaa's house with his one chest.  With his and only his name on it.

As evidenced in the screenshot above, explosive objects (Dynamite, in this example) can only explode if they're out of range of a chest.
Does that work with creepers too?

QUICK EVERYONE, TO THE INVINCIBLE WALL OF TREASURE CHESTS
It works against TNT, creepers, supercharged creepers (I assume), and ghast fireballs.  And actually, I was thinking about burying locked chests under the ice walkways in town, actually.  That would utterly prevent explosive damage to the walkways.  The problem with that, however?  I'd need to bury them down where no one could actually see them.  Otherwise, people might get curious and dig the chests up, thus ruining the walkways anyway.

Of course, it would work perfectly fine under the non-ice walkways.  No one would be the wiser.  :B

WHY DIDNT YOU WARN ME THAT YOU"D DESTROY MY SHOP AND STEAL EVERYTHING IN IT?!
Also, stuff in my locked Chest Is Gone.
That's quite impossible.  Or at least extremely unlikely to the point of seeming quite impossible.  Even if you set a chest to "[Everyone]", no one can destroy it except you!  Not even with explosives.

As evidenced in the screenshot above, explosive objects (Dynamite, in this example) can only explode if they're out of range of a chest.  To clarify what I mean, an explosive object has to be its maximum blast radius + 1 block away from the chest, otherwise it simply vanishes.  This is done to ensure that the chest takes 0 damage, as even repeatedly nicks from explosions will eventually rupture and destroy the chest.  What this means is if anyone tried to dynamite your chest, it wouldn't have worked.  Same goes for luring a creeper in or (and this is a bizarre and extremely unlikely possibility) ricocheting a ghast fireball at it or near it.

The fact of the matter is that the only person who could have possibly removed your chest would be Mike himself, or someone with access to WorldEdit, provided that plugin's even installed.  No normal member of the server would have been able to do anything with your chest, even if they utterly decimated your shop otherwise.

I don't normally post screenshots without the spoiler tags, but I feel this is something everyone should look at.

It pretty much speaks for itself.

Edit: The signs are gone for some reason, but the fact remains.  :P

I'm still not sure what Ninja Gaiden game HaggleMan is from, or who Demon (a skin for Mario) even is.
"Robot Ninja Haggle Man" from Retro Game Challenge/Game Center CX: Arino's Challenge on the Nintendo DS.  His game is a bit like Mr. Goemon meet Mappy, actually...

According to the website, lying, cheating, and stealing is permitted, and "PvP is enabled and greifing [sic] is allowed".  Therefore, I'd say that if you leave a chest just laying around out in the open, it's fair game and, as with our own fair server up until plugins were installed, it's a very bad idea to trust anyone you don't know or don't keep in outside contact with.  And such and such.

They give you 20 minutes of immunity time outside of the "safe zone" (which is a huge zone near the spawn point, by the way), after which you're fair game.  I'm sure within 20 minutes, you could knock down a tree, craft a wood pick, knock into a mountain, craft stone gear, dig deeper, find iron, make iron gear, dig deeper, and maybe find diamonds for diamond gear... but you'd have to be awfully luck for the latter-most to happen.
I also honestly didn't try digging around in the safe zone.  I just assumed you couldn't, since that would kind of defeat the purpose of the server and whatnot. (Going off into the wilderness fully-prepared, I mean.)

It sounds like it could be a lot of fun, provided you are incredibly good at finding crap.  Or have friends who have decent crap on them and are willing to share.  *shrug*

Minecraft Griefing - Hardcore SMP (Reddit Episode 18) **Contains adult language** (Fixed!)
(click to show/hide)
Hardcore SMP Minecraft is serious business.

Edit: Well, hm.  I just played on that particular server a little.  And apparently, I got targeted by a couple of the smarter players.  Not "griefed" particularly, but definitely isolated as an easy target.  Someone apparently tracked me most of the way from out of spawn and gave the coordinates to someone else on Mumble (not unlike that video, actually).  The instant my timed PvP protection wore off, I was dead.  The upswing?  The guy who killed me got 5 diamonds for getting the first kill of the server.  Apparently.  *eyeroll*

There's always next month, I suppose.

Well, I thought "spamthread" meant "post anything whether it's connected or not".  Thus, that's what I've been doing up 'til now.  :B  My bad.
