Maps / Re: Ivory's Ebony Dungeon of Maps
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:20:00 AM »
I suddenly find myself enamored with you.  Are you, by chance, seeing anyone?  <3

But seriously, these maps are just pure and total awesome, Ivory.  These are the kinds of maps I wish I'd thought to make. (Not that I'm having that much luck with Doom Builder to begin with.  I forgot how (somewhat) complex Doom maps are...)  VCTF FTW!  Also, that undersea base map strongly reminds me of one of my favorite maps from Command & Conquer: Renegade.  Two very worthy maps to have any collection!  But man, the size of those maps are a bit ridiculous...  1/6th the size of the game itself, if I'm not mistaken, and almost as big as The Ultimate Doom!  What did you put in there?  Boulders?  O_o  *examines*  ...  Oh.  Music in WAV format.  That explains that alright.  Would you like me to convert them to OGG format for you?  The music will be much smaller with no loss in quality. (438 KB and 269 KB as opposed to 9.22 MB and 8.07 MB.)

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Color names. It was bound to be asked anyways.
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:05:43 AM »
Rather than provide a link that really doesn't give you anything but raw data, I'll make this post:

To change your name in Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch, do one of the following:
- Open the Console (~ key).  Then type name "Your Name Here" (where "Your Name Here" is would be your wanted name.  Yes, the quotes are important.)
- Open the Multiplayer menu, then Player Setup, then hit Enter on the "Player Name" section.
- Open "skulltag-[your name].ini" in your MM8BDM directory and search for the line starting with "name=".

To add color to your name, do the following:
- Simply add "c" followed by a letter or character, and the characters that follow will be colorized.  You can use multiple c codes to give your name numerous colors.  This is easiest to do from either the console or the INI file itself.

Complete Color Chart (Note: L differs greatly from its Skulltag counterpart.)

Not Listed Here: "-" is a null color.  "c-" will basically turn any text after that to the default color for wherever it's written. (Green in messages, white in emotes, etc.)

...whaaaaaaaaaat.  My brain can't even process just how bizarre that is.  ...  Then again, there's a couple different roleplay maps for Command & Conquer: Renegade floating around out there...  And provided you do it right, being one of 46+ Robot Masters in this tournament could be pretty interesting.  Then again, I might be biased since I'm a huge Mega Man nut and all.  XD

Most of the ZDoom cheats should work.  The others?  Not so much.  Also, bots are not considered monsters, so "notarget" and "anubis" don't do much of anything.

Seriously.  My topic should be stickied.  It pretty much covers everything.  ;P

Okay.  I changed my mind.

Since I'm not actually playing the game (due to connection issues which I can't fix), I've changed my name from Doc Robot K-176 to Joseph Collins.  Much easier to figure out it's me that way.  XP

The first one, yeah.  Cocking its head almost like it's intrigued or something.  Oh!  And maybe make its eyes light up when hurt, too, but in a different way than when it fires.

Curses, I knew someone was going to suggest Lop Sided.
The question is, in which direction...hmm...
See the A1 (facing forward) sprite?  Tilt it to your right.  That's what I'd do, in any case.  Backward might look a little odd at the forward and backward angles.  ...then again, to the side might look odd on the side angles.  >_o  It's going to be interesting to shade any way you tilt it, needless to say.

You could also make its top part spring up off its treads when injured.  Like Robot Wily's head does in Mega Man 3 and Mega Man 10 (different Robot Wily, but the same thing happens) or Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

@Red_Lantern - That Astro Zombieg skin looks freaking awesome!
@Korby - Make it lop-sided when injured.  I know, I know...  "But that requires actual wooooork!"  Sorry.

@Everyone else involved - Keep up the great work!  Looking forward to what this produces!

how will the secrets work? like cheats and where to find hidden yashichis and.....other stuff? (cough cough moon theme)
I honestly have no idea.  I just kind of ran out of things to put in a 3 x 3 "stage select" grid and "secrets" was the first thing to come to mind. (A previous version of the grid had "Bosses" instead of "Items", as well, but "Bosses" can either go in Single Player or the appropriate stage page, really.)  So...yeah.  Easter eggs, Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch-exclusive console codes, Yashiichi locations, whatever.  It's not set in stone, after all.

Not to one-up you, but I made the Items article even more fancy.  And finished it. (You missed a few items.)  X3

Who is the administrator?  Joseph should be a moderator since he does tons of work on it and obviously knows a bit about wikis.
Eh, I've been around.  What I don't know, I Google.  X3  Thank you for that vote of confidence, though!  That's always appreciated.  :D

From what I can gather, the founder of the wiki is either XutaWoo or GoldGameMaster.  I don't know who.  But those two have the absolute oldest edits in the entire wiki.  Too bad there isn't a page that just says who founded the darn thing...  That might be helpful.
