Perhaps the + on his hat could be cyan?
I've taken this suggestion under consideration, but decided to do something else instead.

Met Skin v1.5

The Met's shoes are now the secondary color.  Feel free to scoff.  I wanted to do something different.  X3

Not sure if this was noticed, but I converted the Met into a skin a couple days ago.  It's mono-colored because I couldn't figure on a good place to put the cyan. (The shine on the helmet came to mind, but I decided against it in the end.)

Also, the following skin links don't work: Helmetless Protoman (404), Eddie (invalid link)

Projects & Creative / Re: Mr. X's Stages - New CTF Map is out!
« on: October 17, 2010, 09:28:47 PM »
Dude, I am excited!  These maps of yours are really awesome, Mr. X!  You've done some great work!  I would like to focus on MM10Wly5, though...

The layout for this map is pretty good!  A nice, big square with a bunch of items strewn about.  You even included a pit that leads down to the "final battle" area from Mega Man 10!  Nice!  Too bad you forgot to enable death for falling off the platform...
This map has a pretty sizable arsenal of weapons in it, in fact, most of which are pretty useful and/or powerful.  I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, actually.
It also contains a lot of the game's items, and yet, contains no recovery tanks. (Though amusingly, I summoned Eddie, he coughed up a Mystery Tank!  Whoa!)  I'm not too sure about that.
And lastly, no glowy wall emblems?  No Molmoles burrowing through the ground and ceiling?  No Yashiichi?!  Tsk tsk tsk, Mr. X.  X3

Other than that?  You have made me one very happy deathmatcher.  Thank you.  :3

Those comics of yours are awesome!  They're all pretty darn funny and well drawn.  I love that Toadman comic.  I laughed even harder at this comic than I did when Roll said it to me in-game.  XD

Seriously.  Why don't we have a general "fan stuff" thread yet?

No, this isn't the place to come looking for skins and stuff.  This is a thread for people that want to show off their Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch-related fan art, music, and other creations!  :D  Let's get the ball rolling with this sprite comic I made.

Someone already made one, mugenstation360.

Sidenote: Beat the game with that skin.  The concept is simply hilarious.  XD

Ya know...just because someone else made a Mega Man X skin before you doesn't mean you can't release your own.  o_o

You forgot "idbehold#" (where # is, different letters have different effects).  But it's okay, since you remembered idspispopd.

From what I can tell by looking at the raw sprites, there's a few frames that could use a little fine-tuning.  B6B4 could use some work and B7BE a little altering to make it look a bit different from B8B2.  Similarly, D6D4 needs a little love.  C1 and C5 don't show X's foot lifting in the least, which kind of looking funny next to the other C sprites.  Same goes for E1 and E5.  The F7F3 and F8F2 sprites look a little wonky, too.

On the positive side, most people won't notice this in-game unless they're really looking for it, he displays his weaponry right, and of course, the skin looks awesome overall.  I put him up against the Yellow Devil for a round at Skull Castle Entrance.  It was pretty cool watching him and Yellow go at it like that for 20 frags.  Pretty close fight, too, with how I set his bot script up...

Overall, I give this skin a B+.  Well done, well done!  :D

Skins & Bots etc / Re: question of making megaman music... + poll
« on: October 17, 2010, 10:31:38 AM »
Welp, the original NES soundtracks all used the (according to MD-2a03)  2a03 sound synthesizer, so if you're going to make something for the general public, it's probably a good idea to keep with that tradition.  It might be neat to toss remixed versions of your music in a side-WAD, though, if you really want the Nintendo Memory Management Control 5/Konami Virtual Rom Controller 6/7 remixes to go with your stages.

That's my two cents on the matter.

Tutorial Collection / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to Make Your Own Bots
« on: October 17, 2010, 10:17:01 AM »
As far as I can tell, no.  I've tried including a BOTINFO lump with my Met skin, but it didn't add the Met to the game.  I believe this is because files in the Skins directory are only searched for "SKININFO" lumps and the referred sprites, not "BOTINFO" lumps.  This is a Skulltag limitation and/or a method of preventing people from cheating, most likely.

You can't just have the file lying around loose.  You either need to put the text into the main BOTINFO file in MM8BDM-v1a.pk3 (extremely ill advised) or put a "BOTINFO" (no extension) file with that exact text into a secondary PK3/ZIP/WAD file and load it manually by adding "-file yourfile.ext" to your shortcut.  Note: You can't load extra files via MM8BDM.exe unless you're hosting a server.  You have to use a custom Skulltag.exe shortcut, or even easier, some sort of Skulltag loader program.

actually, yes it does, you typed it in wrong.
Actually, he's right.  Somewhat.  The infinite ammo console command is...fickle.  It seems to work on some weapons, while other weapons get left in the cold.  I'm not sure why this is.

Help & Editing / Re: Auto-save lost/not working?
« on: October 16, 2010, 07:06:18 PM »
Unfortunately, the only way the game actually auto-saves where you are is if you stop playing.  If you have to forcefully close the game (as you did), you will lose all progress made.  A similar thing happen when I went from Chapter 4 to the last level to Chapter 6 and the game crashed. (It was my fault.  I was messing around with the game.  Heh.)  When I came back in, Chapters 5 and 6 were locked again because the game doesn't really auto-save until you stop playing.
