Why does this darn thing have to be a .rar file!? It looks so cool.
*fistshake*
You have no excuse. Unless, you know, you're running Linux or MacOS. In which case, I don't think the game would run on your machine anyway, so... moot point.
I understand the engine isn't perfect, and there are still bugs, but why hate on it?
That's pretty much why I hate it. Oh sure, it has co-op. But so does that 4-player game. But the 4-player game also has more weapons and less bugs. Of course, the engine for that one is far from perfect, too. But basically, yeah. That's my main complaint. The engine plays only remotely like the base games. It worked for
Rokko Chan since the game was designed around the extra jump height and dash mechanics. I wasn't terribly thrilled with how Roll worked in
Mushroom Kingdom Fusion or Mega Man worked in
Super Mario Crossover v2.0, but the base games
are Super Mario Bros., so it's kind of a given... (In the latter, I think Bass plays near-perfectly, though I'm sure his actual physics are ever-so-slightly off.) The engine for those two Robot Master-oriented games by Team Fusion didn't look too good to me, but again, the game wasn't a strict
Rockman game like this is supposed to be.
Ultimately, it's just a personal taste. If you're going to make a
Rockman game, make the engine as spot-on as physically possible.
SuperDanny and
Mega Man's Christmas Carol have the best Rockman engines I've seen, despite the fact
SuperDanny give you an extra 4 pixels in jump height. Everything else works as it should. This game, on the other hand? High jumping, weird physics, one weapon per character, enemies that don't work like they're supposed to, ugly graphics (no, I don't mean the 8-bit motif. I mean things like the squished selection boxes), generic and overused mixes of old songs, sliding doesn't work like it's supposed to... I could probably go on, but I'd have to play it again to remember what else was unbearably wonky.
Anyway, if you guys are having fun, more power to you. I just prefer my
Rockman games to play a bit more like
Rockman than this particular entry does.
