The whole "can't heal forever" end result more or less exists in the form of Brutal Duel (viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5922) except it instead gives diminishing returns on healing before cutting you off entirely (plus making healing in combat less viable), but it was obsoleted somewhere along the line and was never updated.
This way of going about it is risky, as I assume you start losing max HP much earlier on, so the game is now balanced around not having 100 HP most of the time. Much harder to "bounce back" from a bad first engagement or a near-death scenario.
