Current Skull Barrier is kind of silly and I really should have complained about it more during development. I am in favor of this change, although an alternative and quite simple method would to have the weapon drain all ammo when you toggle it off (in addition to being unable to recharge it while in use).

If we wanted to have an established character as the protagonist, why wouldn't we just put Megaman in the main role? It's his series, after all.
except that 8BDM very clearly says you're -not- Mega Man as early as the v1 credits sequence

I am not saying "Why don't we just make the tournament robot be Mega Man?". I am saying, if we wanted to have an established character, why would one have bothered to create the "Tournament Robot" as a character to begin with, when the game could easily been designed around the protagonist being Mega Man instead? I am fully aware that they aren't the same character, I am trying to explain the specific reason why they aren't. If we wanted MM8BDM to have an established character with its own design as the protagonist, we'd just use Mega Man. There wouldn't be a need to create the Tournament Bot in the first place.

The Tournament Robot should not be given a specific design, because that would defeat the point behind it in the first place, which is to be a substitute for the player him/herself. Not having a fixed design is the reason it works to begin with. If we wanted to have an established character as the protagonist, why wouldn't we just put Megaman in the main role? It's his series, after all.

For the same reason you wouldn't ever use Ring Boomerang over Knight Crush. Not all weapons are equal. In the cases where they aren't, they are usually limited by availability (like maps that don't have dive missile to begin with, but have magnet missile instead) or accessibility (you're not going to find weapons like Hard Knuckle out in the open, they're usually in more remote or hard to reach places).

Discovered it by pure happenstance about a month before v1a was released whilst looking at a Mega Man Zero Let's Play on youtube and noticing the v1 trailer as one of the related videos.

Wasps on the other hand..
Wasps are the solitary reason why anything small, black/yellow, and buzzing tends to die a horrible, flyswatter-y death near me. I care not for collateral damage. Wasps are the scourge of the fucking earth and I don't intend to take any risks.

Hey look, Mega Man Xtreme's out!

Nine fucking hells, what are you, ten? Regional lockout is as bullshit as it can get, but holy fuck this kind of rage is just childish entitlement at its best. I'm getting increasingly tired that every other post you make is some kind of complaint about game X being released in an area that is not Europe, and while it is a perfectly valid complaint, all it does is make you out to be some kind of brat who didn't get his perfect birthday present. If you want that game released in europe, here's a few things you can do:

1. Write to whoever's responsible.
2. Get people with similar complaints to do the same.
3. Get an emulator.
4. Realize that Mega Man Xtreme is a pretty shitty game all things considered.
5. Not act like a spoiled fucking child.

Don't splurge your childish rants over the forums. You're just making yourself look like an asshole.

A highly overused and trite phenomenon.

Whoops, it's monday already. King Dumb has sadly informed me that he was not able to recover the files, and as such he's going to skip this turn for now. That means that Swordkirby is next up, and I'll be sending him the file shortly. King Dumb will meanwhile be moved to the bottom of the list. A bit of a shame, since apparently his year was a fairly lively one, but oh well.

87
I am posting to inform everyone that King Dumb's deadline has been extended to the end of the week, owing to a sudden corruption of his hard drive. He did actually play through his turn, but he didn't have time to post it before getting hit by technical difficulties. He's going to try and see if he can recover the files, otherwise it's being passed onto the next in line (Swordkirby, in this case).

On that note, we're still somewhat low on aspiring overseers, and I highly urge people to sign up for the succession list. Otherwise this is just going to end up being a year by year Let's Play on my part.

That was the best green text story I've read in my life.
Someone make a movie about that.
I think the best /tg/ story I've read is the one where a group of less-than-scrupolous PCs find a dungeon with a portal to the Elemental Plane of Salt, and then decide to use it to monetize it to become filthy rich.

This one was pretty neat, though.

Edit: Ah, found it.

That's a really, really clever method you used to implement this, didn't even think that was all possible. Well done!
