MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Rules for Deathwind's Servers

That's why Mess makes rules against the Hole of Shame, and Dustman's glitch pit. I actually conquered the glitch pit once, and infected the last guy who was camping there. But I died, so...yeah, I pretty much sacrificed myself to win. :)

That annoys me, especially since it's been proven time and time again that those spots don't work. I use Software and I have been able from time to time to find that perfect pixel to get people using those spots. But now if I'm a zombie, I just stand on the gears near the spot in Metal Man to prevent people from using the spot.

(I really should try to figure out why OpenGL didn't work for me that one time...)

Personally I wish that the Item 1 Traps could be removed as well due to people wanting to use the infected weapon, but then again, I accidently picked up the infected weapon with Skull Barrier before (I was nearby in Stone Man's stage when a zombie teleported in front of me while the others near me killed it. I had Skull Barrier on when the zombie got killed, and walked over the spot without realizing the weapon was there). My latest encounters with the weapon tell me that the weapon somehow drops when the zombie is killed after teleporting as well (though not with a telefrag).

The only times I have ever spectated while being a zombie were either when I got infected while responding to a chat message or when I had lag. I do not play in matches where people are generally unfair (biggest example being Celebi for me, since that user constantly uses the Item 1 exploit). It's very simple, if I do not like what people are doing in a server, I will go play somewhere else. So although I do admire the fact Messatsu is trying to crack down on the way people play, I cannot see myself for sure upholding #2 if I do not like the group I am in.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Things about MM8BDM that bug you?

All of this talk about Duel mode is the reason why I would rather not play it. If someone is able to keep the best weapons fully charged up and at full health, it matters not how good the other player is if said player has weak or no weapons at all. LMS was much better because some of the cheapest weapons were already removed (G. Hold, Rushjet, Bass Buster, etc).

I would support the removal of "shield" weapons altogether, since it causes battles to get dragged on. The fewer options a player has, the more creative that player will get. LMS is part skill, part strategy. Plus, if Skull Barrier is removed in Roboenza, it makes it easier for infected robots to win, especially since a player cannot walk across pits to get away from the other robots.

My other idea of mine has been shot down before, but I really think a majority of the weapons deal too much damage. In the regular games, if you used a weapon other than the weakness, it was just a tad stronger than the Mega Buster, so you nearly ran out of weapon energy before the RM was killed. A weapon power deduction would make Terminator a bit more fun as well, since the weapons are weaker. Magnet Missile could kill in one hit right now in Terminator, which is why I avoid the mode altogether. A weapon power or ammo deduction would also make abusing weapons to make kills much harder, since the weapons are nerfed. So either reduce the weapon power/ammo, or give players more health (right now it's 100, could it be 200?) so that weapons like Star Crash are not deadly.

By default as the developer I've played this game a hell of a lot (through testing crap over and over and over and OVER), but I don't play as often as people do in the community now so I am not some kind of unbeatable God. Practice! Surpass me! Earn a medal!

You're definitely going to get challenged now since you're starting to do things in the community. I'll challenge you at some point, but probably after the tournament is over.

Search function is your friend. Anyway, here's the topic:

Keep in mind that he might be working on some updates to his maps, so watch the Maps forum.

The way things are going, I might have to expand the matches recorded to MM8BDM matches in general, cause this tournament was started before I could get more people for commentary. Only Bluebrawl has signed up. If I go this route, I wonder if I should start a topic about the group...but what would the discussions be about?

1. Where would all the replays be uploaded at?

Whoever records the matches. I'd imagine they would just be uploaded to the recorder's list of videos, but there is always that possibility of an official channel. I don't think the group will be big enough for that, though.

578
All right, then, for those that want to commentate or record matches and have Skype, contact me via PM with your Skype name (or I'll look you up in Ashley's thread if you don't provide me with one). When a match is about to start, I'll contact people that are online on Skype at the time.

For the commentary, it might be best if it relates to anything about the match itself, such as players, teams or clans those players are in, stage theme, etc. I may not be able to commentate all of the matches I record, but I can certainly record any match. Official members will be placed in a group chat so it's easy to keep track of who is on the team.

579
The person recording the match can commentate as well if that person wants to. Either way works fine. I, of course, will apply for at least recording the matches, if not also a commentator.

Stonefunk, will you approve the "semi-unofficial" recordings of the matches?

That seems like a good idea. Someone records the match, while 2-3 people in the server watching the match commentate on what's going and record what they say. Then someone merges it all together and WHAM-O! We now have a commentary video for the tourney.
I CALL COMMENTATOR.

Almost. I meant everyone is in the same call on Skype. If you want to try the other approach, though, be my guest if you can do that. I doubt I could do that approach.

581
No, the point was, just a few people talk during recording, cause otherwise all you hear are just people talking and talking. I want to also record what's going on in the game as well.

Lately I have been unable to get my stream going, so I currently do not have streaming software. What I meant was for a few people to join the game and commentate on the battle they're watching. What we could do is get everyone's Skype name and find out who is available for commentary at some of the matches. Once recording begins, the selected people will then start talking throughout the match.

You know how in sports commentary that only two or three people speak, and usually their conversations are directly related to the games? I wanted that kind of an approach. By having a few people per recording, we could also get more coverage if more than one person can record. I don't expect us to be able to record all of the matches, but we can get some if we get organized.

If people want to, though, I could record matches and provide commentary.
We should probably go over the videos together on Skype and invite others to join and provide witty banter if they have any.

Only thing I request about that is I am trying to control what is being said (e.x., no cursing, cussing, etc), but I understand that might not be easy to do if you're used to saying it. It would be a good idea to not have so many people talk at the same time, though, so I'll just have one or two others.

583
Lots of players joining, but I think I better stay out since the last couple of tournaments/leagues I tried to join were unorganized. If people want to, though, I could record matches and provide commentary.

584
I will continue to stick to my decision to not participate in any more tournaments. However, since CutmanMike is apparently getting involved, I'll definitely be watching this thread.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: MM8BDM: Teams Tournament (OPENED! RULES UPDATE)

Agents will get 3rd, since we're the only other team on the list with wins. I'm just going to stay out of competitions now since they're not as fun as random matches on Doomseeker. I do plan to have a REAL match with Gol at some point...
