Looks pretty interesting so far...but I have to put this nikpick in: PLEASE do not use mediafire. I don't think I have seen another website use so many pop-ups and ads. Plus, someone tried to access my computer one time at mediafire, but failed. Filefront is much better.

I sent invites to two others, but never heard from either one...so I guess the Agents will have 7 members. Tails is not an Agent, but I invited him to join as a friend.

Wednesday will be a tough day for me: I have college until around 2 PM CST, then I start work around 6 PM CST and won't be back until around 10:30 PM CST. If the Kappins want to challenge the Agent team on Wednesday, it'll have to be in the afternoon, or else other Agent members can do the match without me. The way things are looking now, I'm not the best player on my team.

Yeah, it definitely looks like a WIP because I often saw the previous wave completion messages once or twice more before the next wave is finished. It looks interesting, but it did look easy.

For me personally, Quint's weapon should be a little bit easier to control, if possible. It's the only weapon I avoid because I can never get kills with it.

A few stages I think could use an expansion, like Cutman's. An outside section of the place would be nice, imo. Flashman could use some floating blocks or something to give people another route or two to choose. Otherwise, I think the stages are pretty good as they are, but if there are ways to make the stages closer to the originals, then I say go for it.

Well, I'll leave a note for The Kappins (funny we face each other first...a certain member of your team is craving revenge against me). At 1 PM CST I must leave for college, but I will be back no later than 5 PM CST. I do go to my sister's for dinner, but I think we'll have the match done by then.

Wait, I thought the limit was 5 players per team? Not that we could have got any more Agents, but wow...

If there can be more than five, I hope I see a certain someone tomorrow...

Since some teams have more members than others, how will we balance a 2 or 3 VS a 4 or 5 match? Will it just be like the top # members of the team with more members, or settled differently, or not concerned about it?

It really is shameful. People hide in there all the time, only to get caught in the end. Serves them right, I'd say.

Not to mention it's possible for Software users to get them, too. I cannot say how I am able to do it, but when I stand at a certain pixel or so, I can get them in the hole. I just don't like it when people use the spot, though. That's why I usually save that person for last, because the players that are loose are harder to get.

We Agents do have a lot of members, so it will not be hard for us to come up with two more. There were two certain Agents I would like to have, but one of them has a very busy life, so I will be fine with any other Agents that would like to join our team. Also, is there any possible way that teams could have "back-up" members in case any team members cannot make it to the match for some reason?

I fortunately have not ever been votekicked, but I did see some developing against me. If I recall correctly, all but 1 of those calls were the wrong person (some people try to votekick the annoying person in the room, but accidently choose me). One person that I tried to votekick (due to an annoying person that keeps coming back) then tried to votekick me back. It failed.

A mode I really liked was Instagib. The few matches I played were very intense.

Eh, I'm in this more for the fun rather than the competition. If Megaquint really wants to be in, then I'll be his ticket in. The Agents team will enter!

Time will be tough to have, especially with college coming up, but I'll be on if I have free time.

...but there's also some people willing to host FOR you, if you know them well enough.

Although that's true, you lack the ability to change how the server works if you need to change the gamemode or something. All I'm doing is simply showing an alternate, though somewhat limited, way of hosting a server if one cannot forward ports or, like in my situation, ports aren't the problem.

MM8BDM Discussion / MM8BDM Hamachi Networks
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:54:35 PM »
For those that don't know what Hamachi is, it basically gives you an alternate IP that you can use instead of your computer's IP. For some people whose IP is unstable or somehow can't be used for others to connect to them, having this alternate IP may solve the problem. I cannot host with my regular IP, but I've been able to do many netgames using a Hamachi IP, including host a MM8BDM server with my friends. I do not know if ports are still an issue, but it has worked for me most of the time no matter what the port number was. Let me know if you guys run into any problems using Hamachi.

Allow me to explain how this works: You can choose to create your own network, or join an existing one. Any people that are in the same servers can use each other's Hamachi IP. For example, say we have three people: A, B, and C. We also have two running networks at the moment. A is in the first network, B is in the second network, and C is in both. By using Hamachi IPs, if A hosts a server, C can join it fine since A and C are in the same network. However, B cannot join it since A and B are not in the same network. With a certain limit of people per server (16 including the owner) for the free version, the only problem is we might have to create multiple networks, but that is very easy for everyone to do. Also, sometimes you might get an error starting up Hamachi. Just keep running the program, and you'll eventually get it going.

However, I bring this program to the discussion because I think many more people could run their own servers AND people will be able to join them, than with just Doomseeker alone. Hamachi is an entirely different program, so it will not work with Doomseeker. All Hamachi does is enable people to use alternate IPs which may help solve hosting problems.

For those that want to check the program out, here's the download link from their main website: https://secure.logmein.com/US/products/ ... nload.aspx (I use unmanaged, but it's up to you)

With that said, the purpose of this topic is to advertise Hamachi networks and/or MM8BDM servers that require Hamachi IPs to join and to let people know if a server has to go down for some reason (if possible). Here's a template to help you advertise your server(s):

Code: [Select]
Name of Server:
Gamemode(s) Your Server Hosts:
Country You Are In:
Estimated Time Range Your Server is Up:
Max Amount of People That Can Enter the Server:
Wads Used in the Server:
Hamachi Networks You Are In:
Hamachi IP:

And here's a template to advertise your Hamachi Network(s):

Code: [Select]
Name of Network:
Password [if required]:
Number of Current Members:

Here are some example templates:

Name of Server: Unofficial Deathmatch Server
Gamemode(s) Your Server Hosts: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch
Country You Are In: United Kingdom
Estimated Time Range Your Server is Up: 12 PM to 10 PM CST Monday-Friday, 12 PM to 12 AM CST Saturday and Sunday.
Max Amount of People That Can Enter the Server: 20
Wads Used in the Server: None
Hamachi Networks You Are In: Unofficial MM8BDM Network
Hamachi IP: 5.123.456.789

For my example network template, I'll use the one I have created to start us off:

Name of Network: TailsMK4's MM8BDM Hamachi Network
Password [if required]:
Number of Current Members: 1

I will edit this post to include any advertised servers or networks. Hope this helps you guys out with your hosting problems. Btw, I asked CutmanMike for permission to post this topic, and he gave the ok.

I will start running my server once I see interest for the idea start to build up.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: My thoughts about the game. (Warning - Spoilers)
« on: January 14, 2011, 03:24:44 AM »
Since a couple of people posted theirs...

I was introduced to the game by brawlman9876, around the time of the demo. I didn't play a whole lot of it since I found it pretty hard (at that time, the only Doom mod I played was SRB2). I did meet a random friend online (PowerGloveNinja), but otherwise I didn't do much of it because I was bad at Deathmatch.

Here comes the actual release, and it took me a while to figure out how to beat the Yellow Devil (now I can almost beat it without getting hit by the eye shots. I always dodge the body parts). It took me a while to figure out how to change the chapter, though. The only time I faced a mini-boss was Punk, and I lost to him when he had five bars of energy left. Never faced another mini-boss since. Gamma took a while for me to figure out (and brawlman9876 helped me with him), but now he's the only major boss I tend to have some trouble with.
