I'll still drop by to keep up with the duels. I can still host if you need me to for any US matches, just try to drop me a line at least a few hours before you need it.

I noticed recently that the Ballade Cracker looks just like this model of the chlorate ion.

Who can not see the resemblance? Alternatively, you could say it resembles the hydronium ion

but "Chlorate Cracker" sounds catchier to me.

I can do somewhat well, but not nearly as well as those listed in Firestorm's top 11.

DM: Sometimes, I get 20+ kills and I won 2 online DMs since I started playing. Other times, I couldn't kill Gamma if he was a papier-mâché model.

LMS: I pick my battles and only fight when I must. Otherwise, I try to hide until only 2 of us remain. Even when I pick my battles, I usually lose, but I can make it to the last few.

CTF: I can defend a lot better than I can bum rush the other team. Even some bum rushes get the flag to my team's side, though. Since it's a team thing, I might be good, but I still need a solid team to help me out.

TLMS: I usually get toasted, but not without leaving my killer with a big gap in his/her health.

Possession: I have rarely played possession, so I don't know.

And last time we tried a top players list, it did turn into a popularity contest and was subsequently shut down. We can discuss it all we want, but unless we can keep every record, we can't know for sure.

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Epic Fails
« on: February 28, 2011, 02:54:00 AM »
I was playing MM10 last night. I made it all the way to Wily Stage 4, lost my last life to the Wily Machine and bought a few more items before I mistakenly hit "Stage Select." That took me all the way back to the entrance. I raged and tossed the remote to my sister and let her play Phoenix Wright.

Also, I went to my region's Science Bowl yesterday. It might not exactly be a Megaman fail, but it's Megaman related. One bonus question was "Who was the first man launched into space?" My team talked it over, had no idea, and with less than 5 seconds to answer, someone said "It's some Russian dude."

My answer: "Mikhail Cossack."

That got some laughs out of everyone in the room.

Yeah, tough fight. That first round was another example of the power of Pharaoh Shot. He was gracious enough to take the match to round 3, then we slugged it out. Or, rather, I slugged while he ripped through me with Metal Blades.

Anyway, great match, Korby. Hope you do well in the semifinals.

Okay, I shot Sawnik a PM 4 minutes after he said he could fight me yesterday and still has yet to reply. We need to move on. My patience went a week past the deadline, but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait if at all.

Name: Prosecutor Godot
Time Zone: US Central (list me in "US South" if possible)
Times available: Anytime I'm not in school. So from about 4 until 10 on weekdays. I'll see about Saturdays. Sundays from 2 until 10.
Can you host?: Yes, but give me more advance notice than the following:

On an MM8BDM Server:

(insert user here): "Godot, can you host our match right now?"

Godot: "No because you didn't pay attention to the forums and did not let me know earlier." *smacks user with a full mug of coffee*

This is to ensure that you don't have to bug me about a server. It'll be waiting for you and your opponent(s).

HOLD IT!

Sawnik can fight me now. We'll settle this now. Unless he's already out of the tournament, that is.

Notice to those whom this affects:

I will not be able to get on until Saturday evening. I am doing some major cramming for Saturday's Science Bowl and need as much time as I can get to learn everything we need to win. Until then, fare thee well.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: Rules for Deathwind's Servers
« on: February 24, 2011, 12:02:37 AM »
Okay, so I got into a game of Roboenza at Quickman's stage. When it got down to the last survivor, (I will not mention who it was unless inquired) I don't know what they used (and I don't care) but they got up to a ledge and was able to float there above the wall. Some people said that a tower could reach them, but with only 2 zombies left, that was not a plausible option. When my zombie partner died, they bolted and left me to climb for a few seconds until I found that they were gone.

One, is this a legitimate hiding spot to begin with?

Two, if not, then is the tactic above still legitimate? They did get down when I was the last zombie but that flaw in the map still allowed them to suspend themselves until they didn't have to worry about any surprises.

And I believe we need someone to watch over the servers and enforce rules in Messatsu's absence. It seems that more players have got the mindset that since Mess isn't always around, it's only breaking the rules if he catches them personally. This does not promote the standards very well and does not make things very fun without someone around to keep exploiters, ragequitters and glitch-campers in check more often than when he can make it online.

The tournament started a while ago, actually. No new entries have been accepted for a while. Sorry, but you are welcome to keep up with the tournament and watch the championship.

Since it has become evident that although Sawnik had a virus, he did come back last night and did not make an attempt to schedule a match since I shot him back a PM. This is not his first opportunity for our match.

I hate to do this, but we need to get past round 2 already and only our match is holding that back. I move that Sawnik forfeits not because of his inability to fight but of his failure to uphold his half of the fight agreements before yesterday's deadline.

I do plan to fight Sawnik at a later date out of curiosity. To see who would have advanced had the match played out. For now, though, we need the last quarter-finalist.

I got a PM from Devil. He said he had a computer virus. Does this change anything?

so who will advance from the round of 16 if the matches are unfinished or unplayed?

coin flip?

My thought is if neither player has made any attempt to schedule their tournament match is that Firestorm declare a double forfeit. While this may speed up the tournament, it would let someone skip a round without even getting a chance to schedule their challenge against either player.

Next time one hosts a tournament, I suggest that applicants state how likely it is that they will be able to participate in every round of the tournament from round 1 to the championship should they make it that far. That way, there are fewer forfeitures, more contests and a more definite champion. There still might be an exception to that (Sonia's sudden inability to access the internet is a good example) but you will get competitors who can guarantee they'll fight until the end.

Godot, you and Devilthefox literally just missed one another 3 days ago when I was playing.

I think a forfeit win in this case may be a bit unsporting; devil indicated to me that he was looking forward to playing you, godot.

I know it is, but Firestorm set the deadline to this weekend. I don't want to claim victory by any means except beating Devil, but he hasn't reached me back since he said Wednesday was good. I told him I might have church that night, and it seems I didn't catch him. If he was on, he could have caught me here and shot me a PM to set up another time. I want to fight him, too, but the tournament has to go on. Nothing personal. I'm all for a fun tournament, but it's not very fun when I've had to wait this long for my second-round match and there's already a semifinalist.
