MM8BDM Discussion / Re: The UNOFFICIAL Roboenza Guide V2

Can you hear me? It's The Law (check my name list for alternate titles) with an update on this outbreak from my own sanctity, protected by the Force...Beams. But not for long.

Airman's place has become less safe for us. Mr. X and Dr. Light agreed to make the tikis in the middle of the pitfalls off-limits to encourage more active combat in battles, but their modification has now forced those who use them to go around the stage elsewhere, meaning more traffic, more run-ins and more infections. I saw a group there that actually lost to this damned disease. How I had hope Airman would be the ultimate safe haven against Roboenza, but not anymore. Thanks, X and Light.

Large groups in small stages need to beware the most. I've seen almost no occurrences of large groups making it out of places like Gemini Man's, Drill Man's, Cut Man's (especially), Spark Man's, etc. If you're in one of these with a large group...call someone now to arrange a funeral without a body. Call your creator up and tell them to make a backup of you. Then fight your hardest knowing you'll still come back whether you die from Roboenza or not.

One observation I've made is in Gravity Man's stage. I've seen a few instances where survivors hide in the floating spikes. Unless you had a screw loose or a circuit fried when your creator told you, you should know that spikes kill. Even the floating spikes if you hang out in them too long. You can pass through the spikes as a survivor, but if you stay in them, you will die.

Oh, dear Wily, they've passed the Beams! I'm outta here. My Skull Barrier should get me through...got it. *off*

Even those holes in Crash Man's stage aren't 100% safe. Same with the Gemini Man pockets. You climb above them (if there's room above) and drop in and move backwards so that knockback pulls you toward them. Then you turn around and tag them quickly before you die or they shove you back out. It's tougher in that high slot in Gemini Man's because it's deeper than others and there's no room above to drop into it, but I've found ways to get in and infect those lazy campers.

My thoughts are camping might not be cheap or against the rules, but it's still lazy, everyone knows about the camping spots by now and you're not doing anything to improve your abilities as a player when you just go hide in a "safe spot." When you take advantage of one of these spots, you're asking for whatever they decide to do. How about you deal with it? How about instead of hiding, you start running for a change? You'll have a lot more fun, everyone else will have a lot more fun, you might even get a cheap laugh out of it. There is no fun in staying back in your hiding hole while every zombie on the map climbs up to get you for the 8000th time.

Since I downloaded skins into my 8BDM folder, I've noticed that the game resets my settings every time I pull it up. I have to open 8BDM from the actual folder instead of the Downloads section on my computer since Skulltag has to be in the same folder. What would you recommend I do so I don't have to configure my controls and settings every time?

For those of you who are unfortunate enough to be stuck in Quick Man's domain with the infection, if you have Skull Barrier on you, I have good news. The Skull Barrier is truly immune to everything, even Force Beams. Use this to your advantage. Lead the infected into the corridors, then activate the Shield when the arrows appear on the floor. If you can spare the energy, impede their progress until they get blasted. Once you start running low on Shield energy, get out and onto safe ground. If an infected bot comes at you, repeat luring them into the halls, then let them fry.

As for the Mobies/Mecha Dragons, don't bother downloading the skins. If you don't, you can see past them and you get a better idea of their hit-box. If you get the skins and stick them in your hard drive, get them out before you have to run from an infected Fail Whale.

You're taking advantage of the designers overlooking that spot. You use cheap tactics instead of real tactics. Several players just hide there and use Fire Storm or some shield weapon and make it impenetrable. Where's the fun in not being able to catch someone because they cheat? I'll accept you running away and using a shield until I die, but hiding where no one can get you and using a weapon there makes the game no fun. It is just a game, yes, but games are supposed to be fun. Cheating takes the fun out of it. How about you play fair and you won't have to worry about servers kicking you. Vote kick is a way that if you are cheating, harassing to no end, making vulgar, racist or illegal comments or otherwise becoming a nuisance to the rest of the players on the server, they don't have to take your crap and they can toss you out of the game. Your situation is but ONE. You would have to make a case for EVERY possible situation where someone has been unfairly banned before you can bring it to the creators' attention. Besides, isn't vote kick an automatic feature from Skulltag? Wouldn't you have to remove it from Skulltag altogether?

Oh, and one more thing. I've heard of groups that come together when Pharaoh Shot is available, hold the miniature suns over their heads and cluster so that they hit each other. This might be fun since the healthy can't hurt the healthy in infected areas, but survivors are heavily advised to NOT take part in these "Pharaoh Raves." If ONE infected robot gets in there, the party's over and I can guarantee you half of the survivors in the rave will end up living their worst and last minute and a half of their lives.

Stay away from Pharaoh Raves! They are the most tempting of large groups to join in, but I warn you now the dangers are still there. Other survivors' guidelines still apply when deciding to join Pharaoh Raves or not. And especially stay away in Pharaoh Man's domain. There, they usually gather atop one of the four tallest columns and rave there. If they don't pay attention, one will slip behind them and start a chain reaction. Plus, the noise alone can draw even zombies without the slightest clue other than everyone blasting each other.

Dive Man's stage, don't get aboard the whale to get atop the tallest tower. The zombies can climb and climb up faster with the lower gravity.

Elec Man's stage, don't become too dependent on the highest tower for protection. I've seen too many allies head up top only to get tagged by a climber.

If you get stuck in Cut Man's lair, may Light have mercy on your AI soul. It's a coin toss there. Either everyone gets the virus or many survive it.

In Gravity Man, you can hide on one tower in particular, but stay away from the left edge and have someone watch that. I've seen parties infected on that tower because no one saw them coming. Only try to get on this tower when the gravity is light. There is another tower defended by floating spikes, but only when the gravity is light. The zombies might only have 90 seconds, but the time between gravity switches is nowhere near that mark.

Don't be deceived in Wave Man's stage. Zombies are still as effective on jetskis as they are on land. Roboenza has still passed well on those waters. Just run. Don't fight unless you're on land with other survivors.

Small stages are best to try to fight when the ratio is in your favor down to even. When the zombies are larger in proportion, fight, but don't stand. Run.

Large stages, fight long-distance until the ratio favors the infected too much. Then run.

They're coming...their moans and red-hot metal melting the ground give them away early enough. Signing off. Light help us all...

Protoman here. I've found some use for the Atomic Fire, but I also add a tip in using it.

The formula for calculating a newly-infected zombie's health seems to depend on how many infected there are at the time of infection. For the initial infected, that health bar is 1100. The first infected gets 400 health, and for each of those monsters running around at the time they catch the dreaded disease, they have 10 health less. Therefore, the formula is 400-10(x-1) where x=number of zombies prior to infection. Plug in the number of zombies to x to determine the newest zombie's health if you know how many there are.

With that, there is also my finding with the Atomic Fire. A full-charged AF can render a "daughter/son" zombie dead if not close to it. Keep in mind who was infected first, though, especially if it was one of those Mega Men. Learn who you're dealing with so you can use their tendencies to your advantage. You are likelier to kill an "offspring" zombie than the "parent" zombie with AF since the parent has a wider potential health level. Later zombies, though, fire away, but this might be the one exception to the "run away" rule. Wait until you have the best shot you can get. If you can't handle being this close, then stick with the other rules and get the hell outta Dodge. If you can keep calm and have Atomic Fire, wait until they're right in front of you, then let them have hell to receive, both now and immediately after.

Strange...as the first of these robots ever made, I've resisted quite a few of these encounters-OH MY LIGHT!! Back! Back, you mongrels! You demons!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! *runs away*

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: A New Roboenza Guide?
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:31:18 AM »
Personally, I thought the guide Renegade put up the first time was pretty good. It wasn't official, so I don't see why people were nagging that their method was better. It might not be when the v3 update comes. Plus, it's one player voicing his own opinion about how he thinks Roboenza mode should be played. You have a different method, good for you, keep it to yourself, you don't want others copying you when you're the zombie. This guide is almost like an opinion column in a newspaper. Can't he have an opinion without everyone else dragging him down by latching onto his back with theirs?

MM8BDM Discussion / Wear the Pants. Join the Pants Legion.
« on: November 12, 2010, 11:58:46 PM »
Okay, this spurred from a random comment last night, but I decided I could make a full-fledged, unofficial MM8BDM group, the Pants Legion. Last night, we were playing the Darkman level on Roboenza mode. A player who used the name TTM at the time (I don't know if he/she still does) made a comment about the Agent group on at that time and something about pants (TTM, if you're on here, please verify what you said 'cause I don't remember), so I decided to change my name from Agent Bass to Pants Bass and eventually Protopants. So, here we are. Join if you like, just stick "pants" somewhere in your name.

Our motto: "Wear the pants."

I use Bass as my online skin. I go either by Mario94 or, currently, What is a Man (bonus points if you know where that's from). I use the Bass avatar since, if you look up the 2nd MM8BDM video, I am who Rose calls "Zombie Bass." I use Mario94 and What is a Man as names since Protoman is taken and DRN-000 equates to the same name.
